I went to Dr. Farber because I was having an irritation on my head & legs, also asked if he would remove a mole on my head that recently grew. First visit he scrape the irritation on my head and sliced the mole off my head and sent them away for testing, I was called back to discuss the results, I get their & he said more testing is needed. He started biopsying moles and at one point small pimples on my legs. Every time I went I asked him what were the findings and he kept saying we have to do more tests so I can put it all together, it is like a puzzle. After a few months of going every 2wks I walked away with biopsy scars all over my back & arm. The last straw was when he started biopsying previous biopsy spots. I decide to see another & 1st visit (no biopsies) she diagnose me with vitiligo, rosacea & sensitive skin. When she seen the scars on my body she asked me about them & without saying any names she knew exactly who I was previously seen. I wonder how many he has done this to? The kicker is 2yrs later he still has his staff call me to say we need you to come in to do more testing He also was extremely late for my appointments I would schedule them for 10:00a and I would not get called back to the room until 12:00pm and then sat in the room waiting for him to come in for another 45mins. It got so bad that since I went every two weeks the receptionist would feel bad for me, she would have me call before I came in for my appointment and the receptionist would sign me it and tell me to call back in an hour to see if Dr. Farber even made it in yet. And when I would be called back I would see him talk to drug reps and he would still have me waiting.

Dr. Farbers office is a joke! This place is so bent on making money that they book patients on top of one another with no remorse on wait time. I have visited this office about 5 times in the last 3years and only one of those times was I seen within an hour of my appointment time. The office is not clean and has not been renovated since at least 1989. Not to mention the fact that there is almost never a place to sit in the waiting room because they are forever backed up. Not only did I not receive proper care for my skin condition, but I also paid for two biopsies, ONE OF WHICH I DIDNT NEED, and they werent cheap since I dont have insurance. The last time I came in to receive the results of my unneeded biopsy I asked for the early morning appointment at 11am. I came in at 11am and waited until 12:15pm to find out that Dr. Farber wasnt even in the office yet, meanwhile no one cared to mention to all the patients waiting that he was running OVER AN HOUR late. I have since moved on to a dermatologist who actually takes the time to explain things instead of reading the next persons file with one foot out the door. I do not have to wait in an over crowded waiting room and do not have to wait over an hour every time I come into the office. My new doctor also explained that the entire affected area was not treated which is why my condition kept reoccurring so often, which makes me question the quality of Dr. Farbers work all together. Dont be fooled by the long line, this DOES NOT mean that he is a good Dr.

I had a post-op incision that was not healing correctly and infected. It was draining fluid superfluously and my infectious disease specialist was unable to help me. Thats when I scheduled a medical dermatology appointment with Dr. Farber. He was able to see me the week that I called. The waiting room is indeed small but that is really a small thing to be upset about. His staff was nice, greeted me, and walked me through being a new patient. Upon seeing Dr. Farber, he was a bit busy but listened to what I had to say, looked at some of my previous lab work, and took a biopsy. Until the results of the biopsy come back, he gave me a couple of topical creams to help with the possible infection as well as to help promote healing and requested I return the next week. The incision wound made a remarkable improvement over just a few days with drainage completely stopping. The next appointment he was much less rushed with patients and he reviewed my incision. He gave me an additional cream to help with the progress of my situation and then requested to see me the next week to keep an eye on the progress. Basically, I appreciate him treating me as an individual and helping my situation to the best of his abilities. Although he was rushed to see me during my first visit, I attribute that to him being busy because people request his services. Not a bad thing at all.

I am generally pretty easy to please with appointments. I know Im going to wait- no problem. I know the Dr. might not be spending a long time with me. OK. But I waited 1 1/2 for my appointment (I had to sit out in the hallway with 2 other people on Quest Diagnostic boxes because they book 3 people for the same time slot (all three of us in the hallway were there to see Dr. Farber at the same appointment time. I felt like he barely even looked at my skin areas before biopsying them, then didnt explain anything about what would happen next as he froze and sliced off my skin. I wont be going back. (adding more to this review on 1/19/2014): Where he "biopsied" (4 spots) 3 of them have big and black now under the skin- permanent- and way more noticeable than they ever were before my "biopsies". In addition, the office did not give me any warning at all that my insurance would barely cover any of my appointment, leaving me with a HUGE bill- and I continue to receive bills from the office (after Ive already paid off the "balance due" twice) that say that I am "past due" in paying....but I have never received a previous bill with the additional charges. My horrible decision to visit this office is still haunting me!! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a dermatologist.

( THEN CAME DOCTOR FARBER THE BEST OF THE BEST!) Let me start by saying I have never written a review on any one in my life. I feel very compelled to do so now. You might be asking why now. During my life I have seen the medical field become very corporate and downright ugly.. The great treatment you once got from a family doctor slipped by the wayside to money hungry, overbilling, ego headed doctors. The medical field is filled with incompentent doctors. Your just a insurance ID number to most. THEN CAME DR. FARBER THE EXCEPTION TO THE NORM. Dr. Farber has been treating me for skin cancer for a few years. HE IS COMPETENT, KIND CARING AND DEVOTED TO HIS PROFESSION. HE IS A GEM!!! THE ONE DOCTOR THE MEDICAL FIELD SHOULD USE AS AN EXAMPLE! Their is another trait that I have come to notice, he is HUMBLE, something only exceptional parents can produce. His parents must be exceptional themselves. He makes you feel like family. CANCER can be a very scary thing but I know without a doubt I have the BEST OF THE BEST I got Dr. Faber looking out for me. If you have any conditions that Dr. Faber treats Please do your self or love ones a faver!! GO SEE Dr. Farber tell them his patent " Nathan" sent ya. and yo too will feel like you have a Dr. in the family..
