My ex-husband and I scheduled an appointment at this clinic for our 8 year old daughter. We found this provider on our insurance list and thought it seemed nice. We arrived at our appointment and were greeted by a really nice receptionist. Very impressive and even engaged in conversation with my daughter. Then a young guy took us back into a dark room and had her read the letters projected on the wall. THIS GUY WAS AMAZING! He made her feel comfortable and was very thorough - spent lots of time doing this process. He ended up dilating her eyes, (which I wish he would have told us or at least tell HER what was going to happen before actually doing so.) He then told us he was going to have another tech come in just to make sure she saw the same thing he did. This tech was not nearly as impressive as the last. She was a little brash with my daughter, saying "You JUST read that for him. You should be able to tell me what that says." She made my daughter feel really awkward and pressured, which I wasnt happy with, especially because her eyes felt weird from being dilated. We then waited in a waiting room for a while and were taken into another room to wait for the Dr. He came in and looked at her eyes for a few brief moments. He started talking to us about her eyes, and to be honest, didnt really explain things very well. I asked him to clarify and explain certain terminology to us so we could understand, and he actually had to look back on what he just told us and correct the diagnosis he had just said - he told us something completely different! To be honest, besides the nice receptionist and nice tech guy, the entire visit was uncomfortable and just didnt feel right. We left feeling confused and un-informed. We will not be going back. I hope this review either helps someone else who is in search of a vision provider, or maybe helps the office re-evaluate some of their procedures and techniques.

I was refered to dr Christiansen by my previous glaucoma dr to install a pressure relief bleb on my eye. As we discussed this procedure previous to the surgery in his office I expressed my concerns about bleb placement in My eye due to the fact that I had had a previous bleb installed that had finally discontinued its functioning over many years of service. and I did not want his to be put in the same location due to scar tissue you an unsuitable tissue. he was in agreement with my request.so we went to surgery and lo and behold he attempted to install his new bleb right over the top of the old one we had discussed. The surgery that was only supposed to last for one hour lasted three hours and I was put through excruciating pain due to the fact of the anesthesia wasnt designed for a three hour surgery. That surgery failed after only several hours had a new attempt had to be made a day or two later. The next attempt didnt fail but Ive had poor results due to the fact that he did place that bleb in that previously scar tissue the area I think he made a mess out of my eye he wanted to put another one in my eye and I cant even fathom having two of these in my eye at the same time. Make sure you get second opinions and everybodys on the same page when you go to surgery. Although I feel they do have very good assistants and they have been trained well to take eye pressures and tests like that.

Was referred here by my regular eye doctor to have a chalazion removed that had formed on my daughters eyelid (she is 12). Was so impressed with Dr. Christiansen, he is great. We went back for the procedure to have the chalazion drained and again, Dr. Christiansen was great! He made my daughter feel comfortable and the procedure went well. However, everything changed after the dr. left the room. He said the tech/assistant would be in to clean up her eye (it had bled pretty bad) and then we would be ready to go. The tech came back in about 10 minutes later and basically said we were done. I was somewhat confused, at this point my daughters eye was basically crusted closed due to all the dried blood (see picture). I asked the tech if her eye was going to be cleaned up and he seemed surprised and unprepared. I told him we had to clean up her eyelid area, that she could not open her eye and that we could not leave with her eye like that. Again, seemed unprepared - left the room, came back with non-sterile / opened gauze pads. I had to clean her eye off myself using those gauze pads and warm tap water. So, the 3 stars is due to the lack of competency on the part of the tech. I will go back for follow up treatment because we loved Dr. Christiansen, but their techs need training.

Never, never choose a doctor or medical facility on your own! Based on the recommendation of my former ophthalmologist, I am seeing Dr. Gregory Christiansen. Dr. Christiansen comes highly recommended and I will schedule my an annual eye exam with him every year. I am very picky when it comes to choosing any one in the medical field. My children and I went to the same ophthalmologist until he retired. For forty-odd years, we were his patients. He was a brilliant, kind, and very detailed doctor. I miss him and I am going to trust his judgment. Every adult who wears eye ware should schedule an annual eye exam with a ophthalmologist. Children who wear eyeglasses or are diagnosed with pink eye should also see an ophthalmologist. When my childrens life-long pediatrician diagnosed my 7-year old daughter with pink eye, my pediatrician sent me to my previous ophthalmologist. When I told the doctor we were here because she had pink eye, he left the room and returned with a large tome with thousands of pages. There was a variation of pink eye on every page!

I have been going to Clarus for a few years now. A few things I believe they are incredible at: -I love the secretaries. They remember me year after year and are always helpful. -the techs are also very helpful and kind -the place is immaculate -everyone is very professional -they make it easy to schedule appts Some things I wish were a little better: -the friendliness of their doctors, they should take note from the secretaries and techs -the wait to see the doctor. For the past few visits I have waited over an hour to see the doctor. It wouldnt be as bothersome if the tech didnt promise that it would be 10-15 minutes and then its an hour. Other than those two things, Im happy with Clarus! Riley Hanni

Leaving Clarus with a shock and numb eyeballs! Horrible service... I have been waiting for almost an hour to dilate my pupils. Not even the poorest clinic in know Africa it takes this long to dilate eyes... The tech disappeared for 10 minutes to look for eye drops, put drops in my eyes and disappeared for another 25 minutes or so. Coming back he said my pupils are not dilated. He added two more drops of tropicamide and phenylephrine to the four already added. After about another 20 minutes with my eyes tearing asked me to go to the waiting room. Two or three white men are sitting there.... What in the world? Such lack of respect and poor privacy for the patient... I am done with this place.
