I sued Dr. Mixon and won. OVERDOSED my healthy indoor long hair beautiful feline friend/kid named Dolly on 1.28.2016. Appt for teeth cleaning at 8am. Got her handed to me with her eyes open, blood on her face and dead (DOLLY had a clean bill of health after going through blood, urine analysis and rabbie shot by this office 2 weeks prior). DOCUMENTS from Dr. MIXON himself wrote Dolly died due to "Human Error" during a routine teeth cleaning. I obtained immediately after Dollys death her medical records and Dr. Mixons Incident report. Includes the monitor (Dolly vitals) reading during the procedure. Two (2) other Vets said it was Dr. Mixons and staffs fault...and uncovered the fact Dr. Mixon was not wearing stethoscopes himself and left vet tech (K.H) alone..plus later recd UConns preliminary and final necropsy report in this case proving what I stated from Dr. MIXON himself, plus other very disturbing information. PLUS Dr. Mixon admitted to me he did not do a few other things he promised (be present 100% and hydrate Dolly before procedure). 8am 1.28.16 when I dropped Dolly off for a routine teeth cleaning he promised me to my face "she will be just fine"..2 hours later I was given Dolly in her favorite blanket with her eyes still open, bloody face, and lifeless.

I felt the Dr was very honest. He gave me options for my cat with a bad heart murmur but understood when I did not send him to a specialist for thousands of dollars. He told me he just wanted me to know what choices I had. I think hes a good vet. That being said- there is someone on his staff that is awful and uninformed! I went to adopt a dog from a rescue and they were told that my dog was not current on vaccines, which was not true! The bordatella (an optional shot) that dog had a bad allergic reaction to had lapsed. We didnt want to board her or give it to her again if it wasnt necessary. The rescue group called again and was told all the mandatory shots were up to date. Only the optional shot had lapsed. What is wrong with this vets staff? Dont they want more patients?

I have been a client at Newtown Veterinary Center for over 8 years. During this time, Dr. Mixon has taken exceptional care of my pets including a cat, 2 dogs and a guinea pig. I am always greeted with a smile, respect and a genuine care for my animals and any concerns that I may have, nor have I ever been rejected if needing to get in right away. When leaving my pets for a procedure, I have nothing but confidence in the abilities of Dr. Mixon as a veterinarian and I know that he will care for my animals as if they were his own. I have entrusted Dr. Mixon and his staff with the care of my pets for many years and I will continue to do so and without hesitation, I would recommend Newtown Veterinary Center/Dr. Mixon To family and friends.

I had been nervous about finding a vet after bad experiences with our dogs as a child and let me tell you, Dr Mixon is a wonderful vet, and has a wonderful staff. They really know there stuff and care for the animals. I have brought my one year old dog here since we got her as a puppy. My dog had what we thought were allergies for a good while and Dr Mixon diagnosed and treated her for mange. She is doing so great! They also did her spay, they burried her stitches so she didnt even need a cone which was fantastic! Very reasonably priced!!! The boarding kennel is great as well, animals are very well cared for!

Our dog has ear problems. Despite many trips, the issue was never properly resolved. Perhaps the clinic has too many customers. The last time I booked to see the vet, he had a meeting to attend to and so I did not get to see him. I wonder why the appointment was made. The ear matter was never properly followed up. The vet insisted on issuing an ear cleanser that irritated my dog. I like the fact that they do wellness exams. No comment on cost. The vet is new to Newtown, as the former sold the practice to the present incumbent.

I found Dr. Mixon and all of his staff to be very friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and helpful at all times. Whether Im bringing in a patient thats easy or difficult to handle, they have the skills needed to get the animal examined, get blood, etc. Dr. Mixon is very thorough and careful, and leaves no stone unturned to find an answer. They keep the office clean. Ive brought in dogs and cats. I recommend them.

We were very impressed with Dr. Mixon and his staff. Dr. Mixon was very thorough and made sure we had all the information needed to make an informed decision. Both he and his staff were vary caring and loving to our 4-legged family members, Ohana and Daphne! We look forward to many happy years with our pets under the care of Newtown Veterinary Center.
