I Went inside the vision center with my own RX and I didnt really know what to except because it seems at every other place they want to show you the most expensive stuff. I walked in and the receptionist was really nice, she said that since I didnt have insurance I could get 10% off regular prices. She called someone to help me find frames to fit my face and she was really nice. She knew exactly wanted I was looking for. I told her that if I have to wear them all the time I want something fun and different. So she helped me find some really cute frames that were brown but absolutely beautiful. They had some jewels on the side with a pretty pattern. Plus, the frames came with a clip on, to go in front of the lenses to be like sun glasses. Be sides picking what frames looked good for my face, I learned that there are three different types of plastic lenses. That as children, thats when we are exposed to 80% of UV in our lifetime. That a glare coat doesnt help just for driving at night. But it helps for reading and computer usage. Apart from showing me every frame in the store. I felt that was valued as a person, and that my eyes were important to them. At the other places I visited I didnt get much help with the frame choice and I was only given a price in the end. At the vision center they actually took their time to help me understand what every does, and how I could benefit. I was actually taken care of vs. a customer trying to buy a car kind of feeling.

I started coming here about seven months ago because its close to work. My first appointment for an eye exam was the most comprehensive exam Ive ever had. Seemed like the doctor cared more about getting it right than others Ive been to. Then yesterday, while working under my car, a small piece of metal fell into my eye that wouldnt come out. I called them for an "emergency" appointment and they took me in in five minutes! Again, very comprehensive treatment. He didnt just pop it out with a Q-tip like another doctor Ive been to, he numbed the eye, took out the metal, removed all traces of rust, put antibiotic in my eye, and put in a "band-aid" contact lens to keep my eyelid from further aggravating the wound. To me, it feels FWVC has expert doctors who have not lost their passion for what they do.

Scheduled an appointment in early January for February 9th. It was the soonest they could get me in with my schedule and that was fine. They called me late afternoon on Feb 8th to tell me that they didnt take my insurance anymore. Ive been going there for 10 years. You have my file. You couldnt have told me that when I scheduled? You guys are incompetent.

I drive 40 miles to keep Dr Starr as my Optometrist. VSP preferred. They have a really great Optician too. Hes a seasoned pro, gave me the very first really real frame fitting Ive had since I started wearing glasses. Im really shy and was nervous, he made me laugh and feel relaxed. Great place.

The staff seem friendly enough but theres always a 15+ minute wait in a busy and cramped seating area, even with an appointment. My time is valuable. I dont appreciate waiting that long past my appointment time.
