I went to Fair Lakes Urgent Care one time and was satisfied, I saw the doctor in a relatively short period of time, and though much much more expensive (paid for extra tests that I wasnt quite sure why I was getting them done) I was happy to at least get antibiotics... a few weeks later my boyfriend got the flu very bad... yes, the did take care of him (he was bad off enough to need to go to the hospital afterwards but they helped him out of a fainting spell) but we were willing to do whatever it took to make him ok. Ok, so it was more expensive and annoying than it had to be on both occasions, but worth it to get better... Now... I went back a month later because I had bronchitis... I get bronchitis at least once a year, so I have some clue what the symptoms are. Before I could get antibiotics, I had to get a flu test (last time I checked the flu and bronchitis had very very different symptoms), a chest xray and almost 300 dollars later (even with good insurance) i got antibiotics. Now, I refuse to go back to the place, and drive down to Urgent Care in Hayfield on route one in Alexandria... I figure, even when gas was at its most expensive, I still make out by only spending my co-pay when I am sick with an obvious problem. Also, the wait in Hayfield is soooooo much less.

The wait can be a little insane at times, but they treated my staph infection with ease when my PCP was literally too grossed out to treat it. (I believe her words upon seeing it was "Oh my God! What is that?!) The xrays, medicine, and procedure to heal the infection were so much cheaper than the ER. (PS--the ER can be crappy, too. My brother was misdiagnosed by the on-staff physician at the ER at a time when there was literally no one else there that night). Is FLUCC perfect? No. I wish the nurses were a little more fluent in English, but they are nice and comforting and they are able to do the basic functions as a nurse. Would I go to FLUCC if I feel like the injury or illness was life threatening? No, but you should never go to an urgent care for that. Go if you have a minor illness/injury. You will get pretty good treatment.

My daughter was seen by Dr. Okorie who is my opinion is an excellent doctor. He was very understanding, listened to all my concerns and treated my daughter (2YO) with so much patience and gentle care. He followed up with my daughter the entire weekend, who was suffering for recurrent UTIs. He gave my information and explained to me the possibilities as to why my daughter was getting UTIs and why they were recurring to frequently. The amount of knowledge and detail i recd from Dr. Okorie was great. He even followed up 10days later to check on her and made sure we had made an appointment with a specialist. Dr. O and his staff are all amazing! I would like to say thank you Dr. O, you are amazing and I wish more doctors practiced like you did.

I was treated for strep throat, and that was the only positive thing about my time here. The front desk staff was gossiping about patients files and many of them were on their phones the whole time. Once I got into a room, my doctor asked about my symptoms, and ordered two tests. He came back in 15 minutes later, diagnosed me with strep throat, and proceeded to hassle me about my weight and weight loss for 30 minutes. He also said the same thing to the patient before me as well. He was questioning my workout habits, my diet, and generally making me feel awful the whole time. I did not ask for him to do this and I left feeling very upset with the quality of care I received. I will not be coming back to this location.

I was in so much pain from a sore throat, that I just happened to catch from a visit with family in NY. I pretty much new what it was, since my cousin was just diagnosed with it on Monday. I went to this urgent care because it was close by. I got in right away at 10 am. The place was clean and staff was friendly. I saw Dr. Ziegler. He was awesome. Very professional and did a full evaluation of my symptoms. He didnt rush me and took a throat culture. Luckily, it was not strep, just a sore throat. He prescribed me the medicine necessary and sent it over to my pharmacy. Three days later, they called to check up on how I was doing. Overall, I am very happy with the service and care.

The doctor is really nice and relatively thorough but there was no discretion with him... I was in one of the exam rooms and as he was walking out, getting his nurses attention, telling them what tests and stuff I needed to get done and that they needed to "prep" me. But he said these things so openly and loud that I really hoped there werent other patients there. I dont think his intention was malicious or purposeful. At the time I was there, it wasnt busy and it didnt seem like there were other patients so I thought "phew maybe no one is here to hear him" then he goes into the exam room across from mine and greets a new patient

After waiting over an hour the doctor saw me for about five minutes. I had a severe sore throat, ear pain and had been feverish for a couple of days. He felt my throat, looked inside, and checked my ears. I heard him say "throat infection" and was handed a prescription for antibiotics. No swab tests. No idea on relief or what else needed to be done. A week later Im still in severe pain. Another doctor took tests for mono (since it was too late for strep) and discussed what could be done for relief and recovery.

Stan - Jan. 3, 2012 Went there on New Years Day (Sunday) Severe sinus infection with fever and lung congestion/coughing. Saw the doctor on call within 5 minutes. After exam he recommended antibiotics, nasal spray and several over the counter remedies. Perscriptions sent electronically to the only pharmacy that was open that day in my area. I paid the co-pay of $10.00, and that was it. What more does anyone expect of an emergency care center. If I try to see my doctor they tell me it would be a week wait!!!

I had a check up that cost over $100, I waited for 45 minutes and the doctor saw me for less than 3 minutes, didnt even explain the results of the X-rays he made me do. The doctor barely speaks English. I repeatedly asked for my claims to be submitted to my medical insurance group and when I called back a week later it was not submitted and the front desk blamed it on me. Overall, terrible experience. If you have any other option for medical care, go there instead.

Ive been going to FLUCC for several years after my primary got too busy and went the concierge route (extra $5k/yr to be seen on time). For acute issues I cant imagine anything else; ER is overkill most of the time and our primaries either have limited clinic (sick) hours or none at all. With a few exceptions weve been seen relatively quickly and are overall very satisfied. I havent been to my primary in 5-7 years...
