I have never used a Sentara Facility, ever. and this visit was the first time in the Sentara building on Parkway Dr. in Gloucester. I went to the allergy Dr. upstairs who seemed to be pretty good, but was sent afterward to go to the lab for some blood work. When I found the lab, it was 4:55 pm. There was no sign for hours that I could see on the door, all the lights were on, and there were people sitting in the lobby apparently waiting for blood work. I went to open the door and it was locked. (Now keep in mind that I normally use Riverside, and they have a lab that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). I knocked thinking that maybe after a particular time they may have the doors locked for security. A patient opened the door and let me in without hesitating, or saying a word, so I thought nothing of it and walked up to the desk to check in. An employee named Terri, I believe, walked up to the desk where I was standing, and in front of the people in the waiting area, looked at me without ever greeting me and said "how did you get in here, I locked the door?" I was so shocked, I shrugged and looked at the guy that let me in and didnt say another word about it. She said, Im sorry, youre going to have to come back" because she was helping the lady in the lab and she couldnt draw my labs. When I asked when I was supposed to come back, she said tomorrow morning. Still in front of the patients in the waiting room, embarrassed, I said I have to work in the morning and couldnt come back then. I looked at the order saw that the way it was written out I could use it some where else. I told her I would not be coming back, that I would be going to Riverside Walter Reed instead. She then asked what insurance I had, then told me to go ahead and go to Riverside.... they would take my insurance. He actions really show how important I, the CUSTOMER and patient was and how much she cared about her place of employment. Rest assured, I will NEVER use their lab again. She lost business from a potential NEW patient to Sentara. Instead, I will stick to Riverside. They are always friendly and willing to accommodate the patient as best they can, not EMBARRASS their patient..especially a new patient. I could not believe she didnt care how embarrassed she made me and obviously only cared about herself.

My family and I have been going to this office for over 5 years. I had major back surgery a few months ago and recently fell. I have been in excruciating pain and my family doctor could not fit me in so they suggest I go to the Urgent Care until they could see me. As soon as my doctor walked in he stated that he was new and would NOT TREAT me if I did not have a broken bone or severe burn. He said this before asking me any questions or even looking at my back. I immediately walked out of the office appalled at the way he had spoken to me like I was some kind of degenerate. He than said he could "lower my rate" since I didnt "get what I wanted". I will not recommend this place to anyone ever again. What a terrible way to treat people, especially when you are suppose to be a doctor who "cares". I am not someone just looking for drugs! Even my family doctor was in shock when I told them how I was talked to!

How can you call this place an Urgent Care? Two hour wait time & only two people waiting in the waiting room. I shouldnt have to go on My Charts to set up an appointment. Thats if Im going to the Doctor. An Urgent care should be a place for people to go when their doctor is closed or busy. Next time Ill go to Med express & pay the more Money! They can see you a lot faster!
