I know that people with complaints are more likely to leave reviews then people who are satisfied with their experience. So I want to add my positive review of Midtown Animal Hospital and of Dr. Suchanek. I have been bringing my pets here for 14 years. I have always found the staff considerate, friendly and helpful. As far as Dr. Suchanek, I have always found him extremely caring and concerned about my animals. He has always been up front and honest with me about costs and procedures. In addition, when I recently had to put my cat to sleep, he was extremely compassionate and really helped make a difficult time bearable. He is the best vet I’ve ever dealt with. When I got married my husband dropped his vet and started using Dr. Suchanek as well because he was so impressed with the treatment. Pet care is expensive. If you have an issue with the cost, you probably shouldn’t have a pet. Lab tests cost money, x-ray machines cost money, the food and medicine cost money, the staff needs to get paid. I would also like to mention the time I saw a this beautiful cat in the back room, it turns out the owners brought it in months earlier and never came back for it, Leaving Dr. Suchanek to assume responsibility for it. I can’t imagine the stories he must have of thoughtless owners refusing to pay for the care their pets receive. Dr. Suchanek is running a business, he has bills to pay and like all of us, he has to make a living. His prices are fair and reasonable. If you don’t think so... Bring your pet to the Animal Medical Center on 62 St. and see what your bill is like. He is a great doctor. I won’t go any place else.

My experience coming here has been nothing but positive. When we adopted our dog in January 2009, the rescue agency (Stray From The Heart) sent us here to get the physical and shots that they included in the adoption process. Apparently they have a discount arrangement with Midtown Animal Clinic. To me that reaffirms that this place is serious about looking after your pets, and weve stayed here even though there are vets closer to us in the East Village. Every time weve been in, the staff at the front-desk have been helpful and knowledgeable. The handlers are great, and Dr. Suchanek is straightforward and knowledgeable. But more than that he uses a lot of common sense. Now, I dont know whether its expensive or not because Ive never had a dog before. However, Ive no regrets about the treatments weve got for the money weve paid. For what its worth, the current price for a visit is $78, which he waived when our dog needed a repeat visit. He generally seems very fair.

So happy I found this vet and decided to try them out! Highly suggest if you are in the neighborhood looking for a realistic vet that doesnt want to nickel and dime you just because you walked in the door. My experience was fantastic. While the building is old for sure, I didnt mind. Its more about the quality of service to me and my dog! I recently moved to NYC from the west coast and my dog was due for annual check up and shots. The vet (Dr Suchanek) was so sweet and down to earth! You can tell he loves animals but is realistic and knows we are all human and life happens. He didnt try and tell me he needed to do any kind of tests or anything just the basic shots she needs when living in NYC. Was so relieved to walk out of a vet without dropping $300+ - especially in NYC! Definitely check them out. Id say pricing is competitive to other vets in the area.

My roommate recommended this vet because she had such a positive experience there. I didnt have any of these problems... the front desk girls were extremely friendly and helpful. The vet came out and greeted me and introduced himself before the appointment... even offered to get me a coffee from across the street. He was extremely knowledgeable and kind to my dog! My dog is TERRIBLE in the vet’s office- she freaks out- but he did a great job of working with her to get her to calm down. My old vet’s office was crowded and I didn’t have a set doctor that my dog consistently saw. I feel really comfortable knowing that I am going to be dealing with one doctor who gets to know my dog. My wait time was 0 and they had me in and out very quickly. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Midtown Animal Hospital is, and has been, the place where all my pet companions have received excellent medical care. Dr. Suchanek helped me to keep my cats and dogs healthy. He never pressed for unnecessary procedures but advised me if he thought the pets could benefit from something more than the basic care. The decision was always left to me and I never felt pressed to consent to treatments that we thought would have been superfluous. Everybody in the clinic treats the pets with kindness and consideration. The prices are moderate when compared to other similar establishments in Manhattan. People sometimes forget that we are in one of the most expensive avenues in the world. Dr. Suchanek and his staff offer a good service and the program of the clinic makes it easy to take your pets there.

I just recently starting taking my puppy Maybel to Dr.Suchanek and I already love him. The staff is very polite and kind they answer any questions you have even for the neurotic pet owner like me :). The doctor is also very nice, polite and answers my questions as well. He neve tries to push extra cost and never offers things that are unnecessary. I am going to make him and the Midtown Animal Hospital staff my number one hospital I love them!

pros: short wait times, convenient to our apartment, clean & friendly enough cons: way too expensive, always gives too much medicine or unnecessary shots. once our puppy had giardia and he hospitalized her for two days (and didnt even tell us that he would hold her for the second night). $750 later, she was better, but the laundry list of treatments was totally unnecessary.

After at least 35 years using this vet for my pets, he upped his prices/ would not give me any kind of consideration, being a senior on social security. If you have lots of bucks - lots of lucks. God of Mammon is his God. Good luck - Hasta Lavista Baby! Pray for compassion and love - sorely lacking!
