Since our girl, Tikka was a puppy, this vets office has been nothing but phenomenal. About a month ago, I called in because our girl wasnt looking like she felt well and it was concerning. We made an afternoon appointment and the receptionist was great about getting all the details. About an hour later, I KNEW i had to get her in the office fast because her health declined rapidly. The receptionist let me know i could bring her in and Dr. Cara Edelstein would be able to take a look at her in her break between appointments. For that, I am forever grateful . I came in and immediately she saw us, and let me know that I did the right thing by bringing her in because Tikkas health status was concerning. When examining, she was so gentle and kind to her while talking to me in a comforting manner. She let me know and assured me repeatedly that I am a good dog mom and she was so glad i came in right away. They gave me a list of how much everything was going to cost, high ball or low ball, which was nice. She let me go back in a room with my girl and be with her while we got the results ... and then she sent me to a specialist to get an ultra sound at Deer Creek Animal Hospital. But Dr. Cara Edelstein made the whole experience a lot easier... she actually cared about our baby girl and us. And that means the world to us. After we got the news that she was internally bleeding and her RBC were dangerously low and she had masses everywhere, behind her pelvis and her lungs... we knew we couldnt put her through a painful surgery to only have a 0-3 month chance to live. So, as horrible and as hard as it was, we let our sweet girl go over the rainbow bridge. And I have Dr. Cara Edelstein to thank for being so kind and caring for our girl for the last 7 years. Now, we have another sweet pup that we fully trust to take to Chatfield Vet Hospital for all of our needs, because we know He will be in good hands, just like our Tikka was for so many years.

Will never go back to this place. I was assisting my Mom in putting her 15 year old, blind, deaf and tumorous little Dachshund down and the already traumatic experience was made especially worse by the insensitivity of Dr. Ben Nemmers. After two of his vet techs were unsuccessful in finding a vein on her sick little dog, Dr. Nemmers comes in and proceeds to second guess my Moms difficult decision to put her dog down. He tells her he wants to run some blood work and believes the only issue the dog has is Diabetes. He informs us that dogs live long happy lives being deaf and blind and that we need to understand how "permanent" this decision is. Really, we hadnt considered this? Who does this guy think he is? I am no animal doctor, but I do know that a 15 year old blind, deaf dog is probably on the very tail end of a productive life, but thanks for the session in guilt. Look, I get that this guy is running a business, but is this this most appropriate time to up-sell? His demeanor towards us during our contentious conversation started to seem as if he thought we were just out for a walk with the dog and thought: "hey, lets go kill moms dog!" He was not giving her credit for struggling with this decision for months and not to mention, credit the struggles her little dog had been in for much longer than that. Perhaps costly Insulin injections for the next year would have saved the dogs life temporarily, but he wasnt offering any of this for free. His motives were transparent and insensitive to the point I felt compelled to offer up this review. I would hate for anyone else to have to endure this guys lack of bedside manner during their time of need. For this reason, I will personally never return to this facility or recommend it to anyone I know. It is a shame that this is the case since the facility is literally located inside my neighborhood, but I would drive across town before returning to Chatfield Vet Hospital.

We discovered Chatfield about 16 years ago through a rescue: Dr. Crawford did a free exam for our rescued puppy and we havent looked back. Four dogs later, the vets, staff and boarding facility have always treated me and my dogs with kindness, professionalism and grace. There have been difficult times, expensive times, and cloudy times when the treatment hasnt been obvious, but they are human and the dogs cant communicate so clearly, so I have never regretted a course of treatment or felt the staff werent doing their utmost to provide their best care for my dogs. They stay up on current medications, treatments etc., and are always ready to troubleshoot problems. They are extremely conscientious with the simplest of procedures, like injections, all the way up through the more complicated procedures. They also work smoothly with other specialty vets; they are not at all proprietary with their care, wanting only the best for the animal. The kennel is spotless and the staff cater to my every request for my dogs (special diets, meds, care). The staff puts safety ahead of everything; they monitor to dogs relentlessly during group playtime, and address special needs each visit. Sadly, we recently moved, and Chatfield is no longer our vet/kennel. However, I would recommend them in a heartbeat for pet quality care and boarding.

From the moment we first entered the parking lot with our new puppy 9 years ago, we began sensing it to be a nice place. The parking lot is always clean and free of debris; grounds are pet friendly, with a grassy area and bags to let our dog evacuate before entering the building, and a great playground for their doggy daycare. Upon entering the facility, it is immediately apparent that all of the staff love animals, both cats and dogs. Exam rooms are always well kept and smell clean. Prices charged are same as most. Seamus, our ever-happy laborador, loves coming here, and the staff here love him back. Its quite comforting when we have to leave him there for the day, either for teeth cleaning or just a day to play. Years ago we tried another vet because it was a little closer to our home and a little less expensive, but I sensed immediately Seamus was uneasy, as he turned around to look at me as they led him away to an exam room. Although there was nothing wrong with the place that we could tell, we came back and have stayed with Chatfield Vet Hospital ever since. After all, its all about the dog.

Lori Perrow is fabulous! She tends to my animals as if they were her own. She is thorough, professional, and offers me options to consider in making the best healthcare choices for my two pugs and a cat. Lori follows through with phone calls the day after to give me test results and to check up after procedures. I recently had to have one of my dogs legs amputated and she referred me to a skilled surgeon to do the procedure. She even sent a get well card! The whole staff is caring and a pleasure to work with. Hailey, in the front office knows my girls and always greets them by name. They always go back and cuddle my animals while theyre waiting in their kennels. They dont just stick them in a cage and forget about them until I come in to collect them. Chatfield Vets are a great group to treat your pets if you want true professionalism and a kind touch.
