Can’t recommend Dr. Huston highly enough. We are in between vets and due for annuals for both dogs. Our older one developed breathing problems a week and a half ago. We took her to a different vet further south where they took X-rays chest down and did bloodwork but couldn’t find anything. They sent us home with antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory. She got worse so two days ago we took her to the Pet ER who performed the head and neck X-ray and found a mass pushing on her windpipe. Since the mass hadn’t responded to one of the antibiotics they concluded it was likely cancerous and not an abscess. Before she choked to death we decided to have her put down. She was a rescue so we weren’t sure of her age (probably ~13) but it didn’t make it any easier as she’d been in our family for almost 5 years and had a pretty rough life before us. We needed to find a new vet anyway so we chose Woodmoor since it is near our house and had good reviews. I say all that to explain my mindset when I brought her in to have her put to sleep. I almost walked out on our appointment. Dr. Huston and VT Amy were very kind and patient with me and my family who were not having a good go during all this. What impressed me the most was Dr. Huston took samples of the tumor while Jersey was asleep to rule out an abscess and put me at peace with it all. At the end of it all they didn’t even charge us for the extra procedure and made us a clay paw print. In a day when all Vets seem to charge premiums and recommend unneeded services to pay for their spa gallery offices it was extremely refreshing that she didn’t take advantage of the situation. I probably would have paid about anything at that point. Thanks guys, for making yesterday not as devastating. You have my business and loyalty.

I feel unfortunate that I have to leave this review due to 2 unpleasant experiences at Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital. Weve had our 2 dogs seen by Dr. Baker and Dr. Curtis since moving to Colorado 2 years ago and they have both been very informative and made good effort in diagnosing our dogs. The receptionist have always welcoming and friendly too. However, in two of our recent visits, we had terrible experiences with one of the nurses, Amy. She seems to be very rough in handling our dogs, once causing our dogs incision to reopen and bleed when removing his suture post surgery, and just today we watched her excessively force squeezed a bump on our other dogs belly as if she was trying to pop it, causing it to bleed and inflamed before Dr. Baker even had a chance to diagnose it. The second incident made us really mad because our dog went in with this bump that didnt have any external bleeding and was not bothering him, but because of her mishandling we had to go home with meds to keep his new wound that she caused from getting infected. We love our dogs like all pet owners do and want to do everything within our ability to keep them healthy, so having to leave the vet with our dogs in worse states than before bringing them in breaks our hearts. We will continue to see Dr. Baker and Dr. Curtis because we do trust them, but from now on well be requesting to have another nurse than Amy to prevent any such unnecessary pain from being introduced to our dogs again.

Not only have we had the pure pleasure of taking our pets to this hospital for over 12 years with excellent care by ALL staff and Drs. but just this past week Dr. Huston even came to our home to take a newly adopted pet to the clinic when I could not leave the house. This is a newly adopted kitty from the hospital itself. We have had 2 cats in the past, one and then another, who both got the most gentle and efficient care we could ask for. Now we have an adopted kitten who just turned 1. We thought we were done adopting when Dr. Huston told us of the 9 month old kitten in the clinic who needed a home. Not ever having more than one cat at a time we were hesitant but took her home and after one day of hissing and a little kitty discomfort, Willie and Tohy became the best of girlfriends and ran and played and chased and cuddled together. Tohy is currently on the mend at the clinic. We feel blessed to have found the Woodmoor Vet Hospital - they have always supported our pets needs and been prompt and knowledgeable, taking time with our kitties and answering any questions we have had. The facilities are super clean and our kitties are given all the attention and time necessary to complete any tasks required Thank you, Dr. Huston and Staff, for all you have done for us and our sweet girls now and over the years. We are most appreciative and grateful.

I would recommend this Vet anytime to my friends and family. My husband and I are just returning to this area after 5 years being in Austin. Not to say anything negative about our dogs previous Vet but every time we took our dog (just 1) we would wind up paying $200.00 or more, just for a visit. We returned here and took our sweet Lucy which is a 2 year old Pit mix in because she was licking at a scar from her knee surgery about a year ago and it felt a little swollen. The doctor examined her, very lovingly and caring btw and took an x-ray to ensure nothing was infected. After examining the x-ray, the doctor said it looked very good and prescribed her an antibiotic and some pain meds at a nominal fee. Not only are we very happy to return to this paradise of a place, but we are happy to return our fur babies to this loving and caring vet. Also, I wanted to mention, they probably dont get a ton of Pit mixes in and the doctor told us right away what a good dog Lucy was and took her socializing to introduce her to the staff and of course they just loved her:-) ♥

We have been delighted with the care weve received for our dogs from the vets and staff. Any questions have been answered and suggestions on problems responded to quickly and completely. When there has been a serious problem requiring the services of a specialist theyve advised us as to where those services could best be provided. When weve had a pet that was reaching end-of-life they were very sensitive to both us and our pet and helped us through that period both before and after. This came to us as a total surprise. When I had emergency open-heart surgery, they came to my home and picked up my two dogs and brought them to their facilities to board them to assist my Parkinsons wife and sent me flowers at the hospital. Again, a total surprise. The front staff is always courteous, friendly, and helpful. When I see new pet owners move into the neighborhood I always recommend this facility for their veterinary and grooming needs.
