I am appalled by the level of incompetence that is displayed at this facility. A roommate of mine was willingly self admitted into this establishment and when asked about visitation rights, they proclaimed that they didnt know. (given that it was a weekend and most of the staff from what we encountered was, in there own words, "New", i may give some leeway.) From my roommates explanations (when we finally was able to convince the receptionist that there was in fact a patient by his given name staying there) was told that the showers was in prison fashion, where you push a button and you are given a minute of cold water to bath yourself. That the mirrors that was provided to the patients where all deformed and it was like a fun-house. that when asked about your own treatment that no one was on the same page and just as confused as you are. he has said that he has done the same tests multiple times in a row due to the previous person not filing or even telling other people that he has in fact done that very test. that he has CORRECTED people about the dosage that he needs and that when confronted with his sliding scale insulin requirements that they are bewildered. i find that ABSOLUTELY appalling that in a place where people are confused and seeking to "find themselves" that what is provided by the care of the people around them is the same confusion that yourself find. That you cannot even look into the mirror without it being deformed and possibly diminishing the self worth that you already have. i believe a full scale investigation is far due. Edit #1: Apparently when the facility contacted us on his development, they were unable to inform us of anything, that they could not answer any concerning question that we may have. And when asked what the reason of this call was. it was stated "To provide you answers to any concerns as i am able." Edit #2: Went to visit and the whole facility was in disarray, first again the receptionist had no clue on how visitation worked nor how to answer any of our question. when we was taken to the visitation room we was told that we couldnt DO visitation because of a scheduling mishap (which is common place) so waited in the lobby, so that wasted 10 minutes of OUR time with OUR loved one. second it becomes apparent that they have a 16th century degree in medical research and use "Christian Science" with dealing with there patients and i swear that everyone i talked to or was talked to said "Im new here so i dont know." so the establishment is full of inexperienced interns. From the patient explanation, he has not been informed on absolutely nothing on even the simplest question "how am i being treated? How long will i be here? Why is my insulin being mishandled? Are you going to fix the mirrors?" and even being visited by actual doctors seem to be only "chance" encounters. from what was being told he met with his dietician WHILE walking in the hallway TO come visit us. I am Furious with the level of structure this establishment has. i dont fault the people that work there so much as i am sure "some" of them are there to help, but i do wish there was a star rating LESS then one to give.

This place exists to collect private insurance money when the law forces someone into their facility under a 5150. Nice business strategy. I had the unfortunate experience of having a loved one committed there (for a legitimate reason, a suicide attempt via overdose). Do not believe the glossy brochures, warm/fuzzy web page and commercially slick phone waiting recordings. This place will do nothing except perhaps scare someone into not wanting to go back. Why the rant? Please read: 1. They put an 18 year old girl with no psychotic tendencies whatsoever in with a bunch of men and boys who did have such tendencies. Only after I called and pleaded with them to move her because one of the boys was pestering her with lewd comments, etc did they move her to the depression wing with people like her, i.e., those with overwhelming sadness. 2. They took her off of her existing meds cold turkey and didnt give them back. The withdrawal effects of being removed from mood stabilizers alone is enough to drive someone further into a bad episode and this is exactly what happened. We got her back in worse shape than she was to begin with. 3. Trying to get some simple item of clothing that I brought to her (slippers, pajamas, etc) required 10 hours and several (increasingly angry) reminders because the place doesnt have the staff. I heard this phrase about 5 times in the 3 days that she was there. In the meantime, a girl recovering from a near fatal overdose and a bad chest cold had to walk around in socks on a cold tile floor. 4. Her so-called psychiatrist was clueless and, like everyone else there, spread so thinly that he didnt have time to do a minimally complete assessment. 5. As parents who have spent nearly half our adult lives caring for a child with a problem and all of the stress and sacrifice that goes with that, we were made to feel like somehow it was our fault. Something wrong in your house? Divorce? Other stuff hidden beneath the carefully crafted loving family exterior you present to the world? Ive waited several months from when this incident occurred until now to cool off and try to write a rational and fair review. Anyone wondering why I am using a fake name to post a review should stop and consider that reviewing a mental health facility for someone who was committed there involuntarily might not want their Dads name attached to it. My daughter, with the help of her own psychiatrist has found a treatment which is helping her now. If a place like this is going to take lots of insurance money to do a job, there should be some return other than scaring someone into not wanting to go back ever again. We were hoping that her stay there would help her, perhaps discover something that her regular psychiatrist had not. Perhaps to get some counseling to help her. Sadly, that was not the case. It was simply an involuntary commitment and perhaps a future deterrent.

As psychiatric hospitals go, this one is the WORST I have ever seen. The treatment of patients is uncaring and intimidating in the extreme. There was no actual mental health treatment going on; the staff were rude, poorly trained, incommunicative, and clearly on a power trip dominating over patients. There were only two individuals I found worth the label of human being: The social worker Cara and a psychiatrist named Dr. Odin. I saw another psychiatrist, Dr. Sukhi Johal, first, and he diagnosed me (incorrectly) in about 30 seconds and did not give me the respect one would give a dog. In my personal opinion Dr. Johal is the Devil incarnate (ok, well, almost.) I was a prisoner and denied my legal rights or any information about my case. If you have any choice DO NOT LET YOURSELF OR A LOVED ONE GO THERE!!! The place is toxic.

I called the hospital, I told the friendly receptionist, I was her landlord and needed to know if she was still there. recognizing this was a privacy concern, I asked to be connected with some one in authority. - the friendly receptionist connected me to her ward. - the ward hung up on me 3 times without any word. (I thought it must have been a bad connection) - On the 4th time, they told me to "stop calling", and hung up. - on the 5th time, the ward 300 supervisor - who had been monitoring my calls - told me "She is not in this hospital, stop calling", when I objected to the rude treatment, she said its hospital privacy policy and hung up. Its been a long time since I was treated that rudely, with out provocation, no matter what the problem. And the staff gets paid for this?. tony
