Most of the reviews I read prior to my sister coming to Rawson-Neal were true, I doubted them for a while because she seemed to be doing fine in their care. But they released my sister out of their care with no jacket, shoes, money, and did not even notify me when she was released. The only thing she received when they let her out was a plastic bag with 1/4 of her prescription bottle full. I even flew in from a different state to try and help keep her under supervision and two days after I left they put her on the streets with nothing. Finally my family and I drove to another state to find her wondering and lost and we brought her to my home. The hospitals here said she should have never been released and wanted to keep her at the hospital and the social workers and doctors wouldnt even return my calls or my attorneys!
For people who do want help and are not just there to hang out and get off the streets, this place is helpful. It is not for everyone. If you are not serious about your treatment and working hard, then this is not the place for you. There are daily groups to attend. These groups are set up for the patients with drug problems, alcohol problems as well as depression with suicide thoughts. It is easy to sit back and blame the facility if someone is not getting better. Patients need to work on their problem as well as have family support. The problem is not always inside it is the lack of treatment and follow through from the patient once they leave. Keep taking their meds as well as continue in therapy. Stop blaming everyone else and take responsibility for yourself. The help is there if you want it.
I spent a few days in Rawson Neal last year. Im allergic to peanuts and let the know that on intake. One day, this female tech was getting everyone prepared for lunch. She gave me what everyone else had, and then, pretending it was an afterthought, said, "Wait, wait, wait! Thats not your food, you have a SPECIAL diet. SPECIAAAAAL diet!!" Theres nothing special about having to worry about dying from what was just a few years ago a staple of my diet. I get the feeling she was either crazy, trying to get the other patients riled up, or, most likely, both. She also said I was faking about my headaches [from intracranial hypertension], but that didnt bother me, its a medically diagnosed problem. It didnt bother me, but it still wasnt appropriate to say. But again, pretty sure she was crazy.

Crystal Lax 626*435*5087 Hello Im in search for my daughter Natisha Vernelle Lax born 05/15/1988 28 year old. My daughter been missing since December 22, 2016. Weve been here visiting from Los Angeles for about a month now. My daughter disappeared like this before for about two weeks then I got a call from her telling me she was at Rawson Mental Hospital. They released her and then locked her back up. Leaving our family to suffer emotional mental distress from worrying about our family member they cant confirm nor deny if my daughter is in their facility. Now shes missing again. Natisha didnt call me on Christmas nor for the New Year.
The staff has the worst attitudes like theyre not getting paid, some even qualify to be patients. The doctors make the situation worse than it should be. My love one went for help and feels no help has been given to her. The food is straight garbage like its out the garbage. They are stingy with the food like its coming out of their own pockets. They hand out crackers literally for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you have a chance to go anywhere else thats what you should do!!!! P.s. Beware of the janitors they stare like they would rape you if they got a chance!!!!!!
alot of the horror stories I read before my visit had me scared i had no hope to see my loved one. though i did get to see her. i got to have my hour and it is better then most institutions where u are basically only having a skype call with them. we were face to face and even got to give her a hug when she came in and when the visit was over. seems like they have improved alot since the bad reviews were written. and the staff was friendly and helpful in helping me get in contact with my loved one

Rawson Neal saved my life. Thank you to each and every staff member (techs, nurses, doctors) who facilitated my recovery from my lost mind. This hospital is amazing and deserves accolades (instead of all the bad publicity that theyve had to endure.) Rawson Neal is A real sanctuary and a gem out here in the desert.
I wouldnt let them treat a rabid bat.
Youd have to be crazy to go there.
