SHAME ON YOU SUMMERLIN PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ROOM!!!!! Im so glad today is over and my son is alive. People please always listen to your motherly or fatherly instincts because if I didnt listen to mine, I could have woke up the next morning and my son could have been dead due to Summerlin Peds ER not giving my child benadryl or steroids to stop his allergic reaction to pineapple. After we got home at 9pm tristian climbed straight in my bed and took some sips outta his cup and passed out asleep which isnt like him , he likes to stay up and play when we get home but this time it was different. Tristian then woke up thirty minutes later screaming in pain and tossing and turning so I picked him up and tried to calm him down back to sleep but it wasnt working like it normally does so then I called the 24h nurse line and they told me to call his on call pediatrician and they told me to go back to the er so I called the ambulance because his des office said it was an emergency. that whole process took me 30minutes from calling the nursing line to calling 911 and the ambulance showing up. Just as they got there tristian had stopped screaming and let me hold him to keep him calm the paramedics took one look at him and said he was fine and were trying to convince me that the er would tell me nothing was wrong with him and it was probably just gas , and kept trying to convince me Id be waisting my time, I am so glad I didnt listen and trusted my instincts as a mother because after we got to the hospital and the paramedics left I signed tristian in and we sat down in the waiting room because it was super packed at umc peds but then tristian started screaming again and didnt stop for 15minutes he then calmed down for five minutes and then proceeded to scream again for another 20mintues. We where called to the back and got in a room where tristian was able to calm down for 10minutes and then he started screaming again lucky for us the Dr tristian had seen was the same Dr that has seen tristian before and knows whats normal for my son and whats not and he immediately said whats wrong this isnt like your son to be screaming so I told him what happened and how summerlin peds er did not give my son benadryl or steroids at all and sent us home knowing my son had a reaction to fresh pineapple. The Dr had heard my son screaming in the waiting room so he instantly knew my son was having a rare form of an allergic reaction besides having the chemical burn on his lip area and the rash on parts of his body that his allergic reaction was affecting his BRAIN and causing it to swell from the reaction and causing my son to become extremely irritable and inconsolable to sleepy in a wave like pattern because of the allergy happening over and over again due to his body digesting the pineapple still. The Dr quickly got my son benadryl and a steroid dose and after 30mintues he didnt have another one we knew tristian was going to be okay . Im so thankful that my son is okay and I didnt let them talk me outta seeking medical care for my son. People please dont take your kids to Summerlin Pediatric ER this is the second time they didnt give my son the proper medical attention , the first time is when my son had pneumonia and the Dr refused to do a chest xray and wrote it off as bronchitis and now this time.

The past two visits to the ED was worth zero stars. Yes ED nurse was "nice" to talk to, but both nights she had a million and one excuses as to why "she forgot" to admin medication or excuse why things were not executed in a timely manner. Granted one night it was a bit hectic, however the second night had no more than 7 patients on the board and I saw a cluster of personnel just hanging out at the station. Also, last visit my chief complaints were a different realm of what took priority. I was not updated, nor was I pre-informed of CUT scan. I was just whisked away confused. Worse I feel bad for my neighbor in the bed beside me. She had a stroke and it took the nurse 6hrs to realize. The transferring nurse noticed. The nurse who missed it didnt even remember that the patient previously was able to speak. The nurse had a chance of realizing the patient couldnt phonate when she kept gurgling and making strange sounds pointing at my son. Only personell that kept me updated was the first provider contact the PA. Reason for 2nd- my symptoms were ignored the first visit, my condition worsened and I had to return. Trip two just recently with 9 month old son: If I could give this place a zero star i would. When my son was born here the L an D failed to provide quick care as ordered by my fetal medicine doctor. Then they failed my son when he was five days old and almost killed him when he was admited on pediatric floor over hydrating him due two 2 lab blood draws. Now .... Because of parental stupidity of wanting to go to this hospital ER, a couple of times this past month and a half, being told it is a virus. Well it was not. Not to mention last trip to ER, diagnostic swab was done in waiting room. Then we were pulled intonER room only to wait 4 hours to see anyone. Only vitals were taken by triage!!! Never saw a NURSE RN until discharge paperwork. When doctor came and Insaid hey his soft spots bulged with fever I was told " does he look like a baby with compressed brain?". She didnt feel his head. I then said. Hownwould i knowwhat he is tonlook like. When it happed he was lethargic. Doctor replied " your an RT you should know what a flu is, he has the flu. Come back if it is 105. He can be 105.". Umm he is a 9 month old baby. And look at his eye redness and rash. Still doctor raised her voice " he has the flu". So we went home and once again continues fever spoke to 103 so we went to UMC. Thank GOD. He had cellulitis! !! Because of being so sick for so long it went into jis skin and blood. 5 day hospital stay that could have been prevented. Even told at 2 months old not to come backnif fever is 105. Thank God I habe it on video ! Want your babies to live???? Dont vome here!!!

This hospital is an absolute nightmare & should be shut down & condemned for its disgusting, unethical, & unprofessional practices. My 17 month old daughter had a very simple, outpatient surgery at this facility and less than 24 hours later, she was having horrendous diarrhea. The next day, after speaking to her pediatricians on call nurse, I took her to an urgent care clinic. The doctor there listened to the symptoms I described & took one look at my daughters neck (where there was a surgical bandage from her surgery) & said I needed to take her to the ER because she may have a bacterial infection. I brought her to the Summerlin Hospital Pediatric ER & the doctor suggested my daughter may have c-diff. They took a stool sample & sent us home (after a 4 hour wait). At this point, my husband & I had never heard of C-Diff & of course no one at this hospital explained what it was or how its contracted. The next night my daughter was in excruciating pain, I called the ER doctor we had seen the previous night & he said test results were not in yet but to bring her back in right away. A different ER Doctor was there when we got there & magically the test results were back & it was C-Diff. The doctor, Dr. Books had zero compassion or empathy for my extremely sick little girl. She came into our room expressionless & said "Yep, its C-Diff. Were gonna have to move her upstairs & keep her overnight." She then promptly walked out with no explanation as to what C-Diff is, how its contracted, if its contagious, nothing. We were taken upstairs an hour and a half later & were confined to a room where nurses had to dress in a full gown & gloves in order to treat our daughter. At that point I had done research on C-Diff & found out it is a serious bacterial infection that causes infectious diarrhea & is EXTREMELY contagious & is almost always contracted in a hospital-like environment. So the obvious reason all the doctors & nurses at Summerlin were so secretive about C-Diff is because she contracted it there during her surgery. Her symptoms started less than 24 hours after her surgery. In addition to this hospital being a bacteria infested nightmare, they couldnt even properly treat the infection THEY caused. We had to constantly remind the nurses to give our daughter her antibiotic at the times THEY designated. Our daughter was miserable for days & we are buried in medical bills from this disgusting, joke of a hospital. Do not come to this hospital & especially do not bring your children here. Do your research as we should have, they have the worst infection rate of any hospital in Las Vegas.
