I just want to thank Dr. King and all the staff at First Capitol Animal Hospital. Two weeks ago my baby became very ill - my husband came home from work to find her lethargic and weak. Since we dont live close to First Capitol Animal Hospital I called and spoke with Cathy explaining the symptoms. They worked us in at the end of the day. It was a perfect storm - sick baby, and massive traffic made us even later for our appointment. Dr. King and all the safe stayed well past normal business hours making sure both pet and parents felt that they were the staffs priority. Dr. King examined her thoroughly, ran blood tests, and prescribe medication to make her feel better. The first night was difficult at best, but I know that we had gone to the best. After the blood tests were run it was determined that she had pancreatitis (which is what he suspected and had already started the medication for that). Well good news after 2 weeks of medicine and a little home cooking she has made a remarkable recovery. We are so grateful to have a wonderful vet Thank you again Dr. King and your wonderful staff at First Capitol Animal Hospital.

SNAKE OIL ALERT! Don’t be fooled by King’s self-stated experience and cock-sure attitude. If you have a tenacious problem he will take your $120 consultation fee and sell you as much expensive in-house products as he can. Sobeit. But if he advises you to trust him with your pet for a full day and fork over $2000 for all possible comprehensive tests which he neither identifies nor justifies—RUN. DON’T WALK. This is a non-scientific approach to diagnosis and the hallmark of a charlatan. If your pet needs a rabies shot or flea meds, King can probably handle this OK. But if your pet has a more serious problem— find a veterinary specialist. If you go to your family doctor with symptoms of cancer he will advise you to see an oncologist. This is a methodology Dr King ought to learn. The most heinous aspect of King’s confidence schtick is that for love of money he will prey on your unmitigated devotion to your pet and your willingness to do anything to help her. Immoral or amoral behavior? Perhaps a higher order of judgment awaits.

Dr. Ed King and First Capitol Animal Hospital has been a family to our dogs for over 10 years. Dr. King treated our boxer, Ali, with kindness and compassion after he had been diagnosed with lypmhoma. His treatment of steroid injections helped to comfortably extend Alis life for about 4 months before we had to have him put to sleep. During that 4 months, Ali felt really good and was our same loving boxer we had had always known. Since Ali, Dr. King and his staff have cared for our miniature schnauzer, Chloe, now 9 years old; our old English Bulldogge, Maximus, now 5 years old and living happily with my father in North Carolina and now our Golden Doodle puppy, Sweetie. I can say with confidence that Dr. King is the best vet we have ever been to, and we have been to many - here in Missouri and other states too. You can trust him to give high-quality and compassionate care to your furry family members. Sincerely, Derrick & Ellen Gooch St. Charles, Missouri

Our dog became sick very quickly so we brought her in to see Dr. King. They felt her abdomen, gave her pills, and sent her home. "Call us in a week." Her health continued to decline for 2 weeks after the first visit, despite multiple trips to the doc. Finally they decided that further testing was necessary, but wanted to charge WAY too much money to do blood work and give her injections that she didnt even need. We chose to get a second opinion, and thankfully we did. The 2nd vet we visited charged us half the price of First Capital Animal Hospital, and didnt just feel around before prescribing medicine. If we hadnt taken her to another vet, we would have never known what was wrong with our pup or that we were pumping her full of crap that wasnt helping.

I love Dr. King! And he can only be the best because of the awesome staff he has working with him. My Bailey (Maltese) was a patient of Dr. Kings for 10 years through bladder stones, broken back, cataracts, heart issues and probably more ailments than I can remember. No matter what the issue (even if just behavioral), Dr. King and his staff treated Bailey like he was the prince of all things and never made me feel like a bad puppy-mommy. Now we take Dara (Coton) and they as wonderful to her as they were to Bailey. I trust this office explicitly for care and for kenneling. I can never say enough thank you enough to this caring group of people.

My experience was overwhelmingly positive, but what stood out the most was how much Dr. Sullivan cares for his patients. Of course he was professional, but more than that he was kind and gentle with my animal and left me comforted with the idea that he would care for my pet in a way that met my expectations. In the end, I was right to have trusted Dr. Sullivan with my pet. Thank you Tim for taking care of our family member. He is back to his frisky self.

Ive been taking my dogs here for several years. Theyve always been friendly, kind, helpful, and caring with both my skittish dog, and my stubborn one. Were never kept waiting, and the vets spend more time with the dogs than most human doctors do with their patients. Id highly recommend them to help keep your fur babies well!

Excellent care through all stages of your family pets life. Cant say enough about how great the staff treat you and them from annual checkups to surgery if ever required. If looking for a vet or a few nights of kenneling, give them a chance to care for yours as well.

Dr. King is an amazing vet. Honest and caring. He called me on a Saturday evening to explain a procedure that my dog needed to have, squeezed us into his busy schedule next day and the staff there is just fantastic.
