North Star Dermatology is the one and only place I will go from now on for my skin. This past year I had a big health scare and Dr. Sina was there to help me through it. In June of last year I was 6 months pregnant and I found a spot on my ear which concerned me. My primary doctor told me I had to find someone to biopsy it immediately, he told me that when calling dermatologists to not mention that I was pregnant; sometimes doctors are afraid to take on patients with child. I thought there was no way this could be true, after being turned down 5 times over the phone I knew it was. I went to my insurance page and it listed North Star Dermatology, I called and they were able to schedule me in for that afternoon and had no reservations about the fact that I was pregnant. When I arrived I was greeted by the receptionist and she was very helpful and informative as this was my first time ever to go to a dermatologist. When I went back to the room the nurse was very kind, she could tell I was nervous and did everything she could to keep me calm. When Dr. Sina came in and looked at my ear he told me that he would biopsy the spot on my ear and take a look at the other spots that I was not there for just to be on the safe side. He informed me that the results would be in about a week and one of his nurses would call me. My appointment was on a Friday and the next Wednesday Dr. Sina called me himself. He informed me the test results had come back and it was in fact cancer and had to be removed immediately. I am not now nor have I ever been a sun tanner so this whole thing took me off guard it ended up that being pregnant my hormones spurred this cancer on. He could tell that I was upset and informed me that he had already called some colleagues of his to get recommendations for a good plastic surgeon on my insurance. He called the surgeon and talked to the head nurse and left a message to talk to the surgeon before he saw me at my appointment. Dr. Sina already made the appointment for me at their practice and explained to them the importance of getting me in right away. He set an appointment for me to come in to North Star with my husband that day to discuss what my next steps were and what to expect throughout the process. I ended up having part of my ear removed as well as lymph nodes down my neck and I am now cancer free! Every 3 months I’m scheduled to see Dr. Sina for a head to toe examination for any new spots that may come up. I know Dr. Sina and his staff always have my best interest in mind and I never hesitate to contact them with any questions. If you are searching for a dermatologist I highly recommend North Star Dermatology, I truly believe that Dr. Sina is the main reason my story ended up being cancer free and blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl a few months later.

Due to rain, after-school traffic and a multiple car accident, my 10 minute drive took 30-35 minutes to travel. I called their office FOUR times to see if they needed me to reschedule. Each time the phone line was busy. I was tempted to just turn around and go back home, but didnt want to be a no call-no show. When I arrived, there were NO OTHER patients in the office. They still wouldnt see me because I was more than 10 minutes late. Are you serious??? I expressed my frustration about going through all these obstacles to get there, and if they had of simply answered the phone, I wouldnt of had to go through all that. The receptionist was non-apologetic and said that was their policy. To top it off, the phone receiver was laying there on the counter OFF THE HOOK. (repeat) OFF THE HOOK..... Thanks for waisting my time, gas and money Northstar. That was an hour and a half of my life that I will never get back.

I never write reviews but I feel the need to about this place! The last dermatologist office I went to was not a good place at all. Front desk staff didnt communicate well at all, didnt know anything about prices, the nurses were unfriendly and the doctor actually hurt me while removing skin tags/warts, they didnt care about me at all they just wanted me in and out. In fact they made me get in and out so fast I didnt even get to cover two things I went in there for!! After looking up a good derm in the DFW area I found north star and Im so happy I did!! I had forgotten my license by accident and the girl at the front desk was super nice about it. Very clean, well put together place without being "doctory". I saw Dr. Tan and her assistant Gena, both of them are awesome. Adressed all of my problems, took their time AND actually prescribed me medicine for my skin issues! I could not be happier, thanks North Star !

I will never return to Northstar Dermatology. The foreign lady at the front desk was extremely rude and did not even greet me when I walked in. The doctor was there to just take my insurance money and move on with the next patient. he was very fast and I felt like I was taking time out of his day. I barely got to ask any questions. He didnt even really look at my face. (I was there for acne) He prescribed three different antibiotics from just giving me one quick glance. Never gave any instructions about the pills that he diagnosed and one prescription ended up giving me Esophagitis. Extremely painful! I was not able to eat for a week. Overall, I spent about $200 on the visit and medications, not including the ER bill that I should be getting soon for the diagnosis of Esophagitis. I dont recommend him!

I have been to Northstar Dermatologys office two separate times, both for annual checkups. The first time I visited my wait time was short and I got right in to see Dr. Tan. She was amazing - great bedside manner, attentive, listens to concerns, and genuinely wants to see the best outcomes. The second time I went, minus a hiccup in waiting (another patient was having an adverse reaction), I had the same attentiveness. To make up for time lost, the staff went out of there way to put together a killer sample bag. Its nice when a "sorry" is followed up by restitution...that doesnt often happen in this world. I moved to south Fort Worth but will continue to make the trek to see Dr. Tan because shes phenomenal at what she does, the facility is nice, and its easy to get in for an appointment.

I am PASSIONATE about Northstar Dermatology! Ive struggled with break outs since I was a teenager, for some reason no one could get me to stay clear. After going to countless dermatologists and trying many medications I went to Northstar and it was one of the best choices I made. The office staff is amazing, they were always so warm and welcoming and always returned calls promptly. Dr. Aboutalebi is phenomenal, he listens and truly seems to care about patients. And I finished my treatment plan 6 months ago and am still clear, my skin has never looked better. Ive been to a number of dermatologists around DFW and this guy is the best!
