For years I had flat warts on my hand so I went to Dr. Dano and she burned them off with liquid nitrogen, which temporarily disfigured my hand (to the horror of everyone I met until my hand healed), and after the healing the warts came right back anyway. Some time after this I happened to be reading a book about vitamin C which suggested that it could be helpful against warts, so I went to the store and bought an $8 jar of vitamin C cream and in about eight day the warts were totally gone. I wrote to Dr. Dano explaining what I did, since the remedy I discovered was less invasive, less expensive, and (most importantly), more effective, thinking she would want to explore adding it to her list of treatments. But she was completely disinterested. I dont know whether its because she makes more money if she performs the burning procedure vs. just suggesting simple vitamin C cream, or if she has a bias against anything she didnt learn in med. school and thats not drugs or surgery, but either way, she clearly isnt interested learning about better remedies, much less offering them to her patients. Incidentally, although I paid at the time of my visit, her office billed me again for something like $31, saying they accidentally undercharged me the first time. I asked Dr. Dano to waive this considering that the treatment she advised was not the least invasive, least expensive, or most effective, but she wouldnt. Her office continued to send me monthly bills for about eight years (many of them falsely claiming that that was my "final warning" and that I was about to be turned over to a collection agency and it was about to go on my credit report, but that never happened). She spent more on postage to send me those bills, than the amount on the bill.

I have been seeing Dr Dano for many years (at least 5-8 years) and would recommend her without hesitation! She thoroughly documents your visit and sits next to you and reviews your file with you at each visit. (When has any of your doctors ever shown you your medical file and openly reviewed it with you?) One of the things I most appreciate about Dr. Dano is that she always gives you options for treatment, explains them in laymen terms, and then asks you how you would like to proceed. If you express a lack of confidence in making that decision, then she will give you her opinion and justify it. Dr Dano has never pushed any treatments or products on me. . . I have always felt like we were a team working together for the benefit of my health. She is very personable, has superb listening skills, expertise, and a masterful balance between personal and professional lines. No one I have recommended her to has been disappointed.

Dr. Dano has been our family dermatologist for many years. I have tremendous respect for her and her abilities. My husband and I have 3 daughters and we all see her for several different skincare needs. I would recommend her to everyone! She is extremely knowledgable and takes great care to help you understand your options and her diagnosis. One of my daughters has Down syndrome and Dr. Dano is wonderful with her. The staff is great with returning calls and handling questions. The aestheticians are also very good and enjoyable to work with. Over the years, I have found that office staff professionalism and attitude are extremely important to patient care and my overall happiness with a doctor. We have had to see many different doctors in Austin for several family illnesses. Dr. Dano is easily one of my favorite and most trusted physicians!

Dr. Dano is a very thorough and impressive doctor. I have been a patient of hers for many years. However, three years ago she decided that, at least for Medicare patients, we must pay at time of service and have Medicare and secondary insurance reimburse us. I didnt like the idea, but it worked okay for a couple of years and I wanted to continue to see Dr. Dano. This year, my secondary insurance mistakenly sent Dr. Dano the check instead of me. I was promised 2 months ago that my payment to Dr. Dano would be refunded. So far, it has not been, even though Ive called and asked for my money several times. Obviously, there is a problem in her office. I dont know if she is aware of it or not, but this is a good way to lose patients.

Dr. Dano has way too many patients to spend any amount of time with you. Long waits to get to speak to her for 5 minutes if you are lucky. She pushes procedures that are expensive and not worth it. I was told a procedure was covered by insurance and lo and behold it wasnt but they didnt tell me until Id had 6 of them. Then they hounded me for the full cost which I paid out of my own pocket (almost $700). Now 2 years later, due to "accounting errors" they send me a bill saying I still owe more money. Very unprofessional office. I now go to Dr. Lisa Rhodes at Westlake Derm. She is honest about what you need and dont need and really takes time to listen to you. So glad I switched.

This office is clean, the office staff courteous, and I had no problems with billing. While the Dr. Danos habit of dictating her medical notes to her assistant in front of me was more than a little off-putting, she seemed like a decent person. Unfortunately, like so many other dermatologists, the office is run more like a spa. They promote expensive products so they can make a commission and expensive skin-care services. If you are not interested in spending money, they do not seem interested in helping you.

I cant believe anyone would complain about this doctor. She was excellent! She spent lots of time with me, was very informative, answered all of my questions, didnt berate me for having a lifetime of sun damage, and offered me very useable solutions. Her staff was very friendly and helpful. Ive been to many dermatologists in my 60 years since my family has a history of skin cancer and lots of moles and she gave me the most thorough examination. I feel lucky I was even able to get an appointment with her.

Dr. Dano has been my doctor for at least 8 years. I asked a well-informed friend, "Who is the best in town?" Thats how I found Dr. Dano. She knows her stuff, and is very skilled in explaining options in laymen terms. Her staff is friendly, congenial and trained well. I highly recommend Dr. Dano.
