I usually dont give reviews but the service and standard of excellence at Berkeley Eye Center in Kingwood was so phenomenal that I had to leave one! First, I was greeted by name by Melissa. We stood for a few seconds in the reception area and got to know each other and then I was taken back. The whole time I was with Melissa was laid back, friendly if not fun! I could tell that she cares for her patients by the way she speaks to them and makes them feel at home. I was blown away by her customer service! It was an honor to get to know Melissa! This was my third time seeing Dr. Whitney Barker. Dr. Barker is always professional, yet pleasant and easy going. She takes time and explains things on a laymans level which I appreciate! After all this, I was taken to pick out new glasses with the help of Michelle! Michelle was also amazing! She was patient with me while I kept texting my wife and asking what I thought about different glasses and helped me find the right ones! She also laughed at all of my dumb jokes! Thank you Melissa, Dr. Barker and Michelle for a great morning! You just dont get that kind of service all the time!

Berkeley is exceptional from start to finish. The front desk staff has a good customer service oriented attitude. Dr Palumbo and the technician who examined me took great care to explain each step so that I understood what they were doing and why it was important. He answered my questions and concerns about possible affect that Type II diabetes might have on my vision. Dr Palumbo assured me that he observed no negative affect from the diabetes on my vision. He assured me that a report would be sent to my primary doctor so that he had the latest results in my file. At check out, the gentleman took the initiative to verify that my insurance allows one eye exam per year even though I do not have broad coverage for vision care. If other health care providers copied the Berkeley play book, there would be far fewer patient complaints about health care.

Going to any physician has always given me an uneasy feeling starting with going in the front door. At Berkeley Eye Center it is quite different feeling due to the decor and total lack of being a Doctors office. The receptionist is friendly and very helpful. Comfortable furniture and good reading material. When taken to the pre-exam, the staff is very efficient, professional and does their job in a pleasant manner. Never waste time and is very efficient. When you go to the inner waiting room you can have a good cup of coffee and relax before seeing the Dr. I use Dr. McQueen who in my estimation is the best in the business. He is friendly, never makes me uneasy and tends to business. His exam is never intimidating or given an uneasy feeling. His explanations and suggestion are put in a manner that is understood and never wrong.

Berkeley Eye Center is very professional and their exams are very thorough. The employees doing the preliminary testing (prior to meeting with the doctor) are enjoyable, patient and know their tasks completely. The doctors I have seen over the years do a complete eye exam and they have spent the time to explain how my eyes are doing and to answer any questions I might have. About 15yrs ago I learned that it was extremely important to have an annual eye exam by an Optometrist, to have all areas of possible eye deterioration caught early on. Since coming to Houston 6 years ago, Berkeley Eye Center was highly recommended to me and I have been using them exclusively and have been extremely pleased. I highly recommend using Berkeley Eye Center for you annual eye exam.

Everyone is wonderful at Kingwood Berkeley Eye Center, but today they really outdid themselves. Dr.Plumbo was great! I had lost the hearing in my left ear recently, and was having a lot of other problems, like sore throat, headache, and others..I had been to the Dr. for the problems..The first thing Dr. Plumbo did after hearing my vision problems, and hearing problem was to request a blook count so he could find out what was going on..I felt that he was doing everything possible to find an answer to all my recent health problems..He went above and beyond what was required..that is why I have been with them since High School, and am now a Senior Citizen..

This is my 2nd year at Berkeley in Kingwood & Ive compared it to two other eye service places and they are the best. The facility is comfortable nice and clean, the staff has always been gracious and nice, my eye assistant very attentive and patient, then my Doctor is the best Dr. Barker. She explains things in detail and I trust her which says alot because Ive always have hard time trusting doctors but when I leave there I feel Im in good hands and my eye health is their concern not mine. The eye glass shop is like seeing old friends every time I go in. I cant say enough about them all. I wish the system they have was applied to all things.

In early 2013 I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and 2 months later I had a retinal detachment in my left eye. Dr McQueen helped me to get help from an excellent doctor to reattach my retina and later performed cataract surgery on both eyes. Throughout this treatment Dr McQueen, Dr Palumbo and Dr Barker have demonstrated their skills as optometrist and have been professional and very helpful. Their skill in optometry has helped me to see well again. They have excellent interpersonal skills and make you feel well cared for. All the staff at Kingwood BEC work hard to ensure you have the best possible experience during your visit.

This was my second year going to Berkeley Eye Center in Kingwood for my annual eye check up. The entire experience was just as pleasant as my first appointment last March. The online appointment process is super user friendly. All the text, calls and emails serve as great appointment reminders for a busy working Mom like me. Dr. Palumbo was thorough in my exam and making sure I had no questions. The entire staff is professional and kind, from check in to the folks that help you choose and order lenses, to the check out folks that take payments. Just an overall very pleasant experience. Thanks Berkeley!!!!

I left an appointment at this place after having an eye exam (and being a new patient) and paid a $10 charge for what my insurance required. After being paid in full these jokers didnt track my being paid and kept contacting me to pay the $10 that I already paid. This place was a pain in the butt for the dumb stuff on the back end that makes any good on the front end not work it. Theres a ton of places that you can go that can do as good or better, just make sure they have a good accountant or someone that knows how to track payments or you could be hassled later with their lack of payment tracking.

I had been a patient of Dr. Palumbo in Kingwood but moved, so I went to another Optometrist. I did not feel comfortable with the new optometrist who immediately wanted to schedule me for cataract surgery, so I drove 2 hours back to Berkeley Eye Center and Dr. Palumbo for a second opinion. I was correct in my decision because Dr. Palumbo advised that I was not yet a candidate for the surgery. The prescription that I got from Dr. Palumbo was also different in both eyes from the prescription that I got from the new doctor. I will continue to make the long drive to see Dr. Palumbo for my eye care.
