Theyre kind of abusive to their patients and treat them like criminals. Not all, but some mental hospitals do strip searches which are completely unnecessary especially for the willow unit where everyone is there for depression, ptsd, or anxiety. Also, treating young kids with those disorders as criminals will only harm them further. They even strip searched a 7 yr old boy and 10 yr old girl and most people there are victims of rape or other special violence so theyre only triggering them. I have many friends wake up screaming at night bc nightmares about this place and it only makes them scared to ask for help when they need it bc theyre treated like criminals. The beds are crinkly and the blankets are thin and the entire place is kept gold all day and the blankets are blood stained. They punish you for telling them your feeling suicidal and wont even let you pee without being watched and they make it obvious to everyone that youre being watched while you pee. During the strip search they make remarks to make you feel ashamed of yourself which theyre adults forcing kids to strip for them. If youre crying or upset that only further proves your "crazy" and they leave you to suffer on your own. The doctors lie to you and you end up hearing one thing from one Dr and another from this one and they use that to say youre crazy. I was on period and having cramps and they wouldnt give me my meds bcuz they said I was allergic which I wasnt and I had taken them before and my mom told them to give them to me, instead they gave me a lukewarm heating pack. The nurse was doing blood work on me and I already lost so much blood (I had a nosebleed from where I was crying so much and it covered my hands, walls, hair, face, door, floor, etc. And I was stressed so my period was 3x worse than usual and I was using like 5 tampons a day compare to my usual 2) and she wanted 5 gives of blood and I couldnt breathe and was passing out and losing control of bodily functions and she kept trying to take my blood until I gagged and passed out and ending up ripping it out. And I was discriminated against for my abortion beliefs, religion, and sexuality. In short, if you love/care about someone and want them to get help I strongly advise against this place and they need to be shut down. Mental disorders dont make someone a lesser being or a criminal or insane. Depression is totally different than being insane, especially since a good majority of the population has depression, anxiety, ptsd, ocd, add, adhd.

Most of the staff are friendly and try to be helpful. There just arent enough of them to go around and the patients making the most noise get the most attention. No one really explained the routine to me or what was expected of me when I went in but I was able to pick things up pretty quick just by paying attention and asking questions when I could. I used to be a correctional officer and I was a bit surprised by the prison feel of the hospital. However, I do understand that these things are necessary for the health and safety of the staff and the patients. My biggest complaints were not getting enough information at check in and not getting a chance to talk with a therapist. (I made the request several times) My doctor was great though. I couldnt have asked for better. He was kind and knowledgeable and had my meds straightened out in no time. I have some physical conditions that cause me a lot of pain and he allowed me to have things I needed brought in from home to make my stay there more comfortable. Over all Id say they do the best they can with what they have and I would go back if ever needed in the future.

I would not recommend this place to anyone who needs help. I dont blame the nurses the drs are at fault. They treat the patients like they are beneath them. One of the drs put me on a medication that triggered that my seizures so bad I ended up at the med center for a week with double pneumonia because I aspirated so bad the staff let me lay in the floor seizing for six minutes until they decided to call 911. How I know this is I was on the phone with my grandmother when I collapsed and she heard the entire thing. Instead of apologizing for the way I was treated the dr sent his students over there to talk with me the next day.The mental health system is pathetic!

I have a loved one there. When I call, they are very nice. I really like her doctor. He seems to genuinely care and wants to do all he can to get her the medical treatment she needs. Her therapist is also concerned and wants to do all he can to help her. I truly feel in my heart that God placed her here. Especially compared to the other places we have dealt with in the past. Thanks Woodridge for the respect, care and professionalism that all places should strive to have.

I hope this place burns to the ground, I couldnt see my family for the whole week because I didnt gain this thing they call the "trust system" when I was only in there for depression and failed suicide attempts. The staff can be hateful and the doctor sucks to talk to.

Every time you call. Someone with a smart mouth talks to you. Totally unprofessional. Unacceptable behavior for a mental health facility. Apparently the staff need mental help on common courtesy and how to speak to people over the phone.

They stole my mentally impaired sisters stuff and told me they lost it in the paperwork and then told me that my sister has it. She didnt. It never reached her and one of the nurses stole it. I hope this place is burned to the ground.
