As someone who has brought their animals to this clinic for 14 yrs I can honestly say I like it. I have recommended it to my mom, sister and aunt who all moved here and they are also very happy with Dr Mehne. I will admit his personality is not for everyone but he is honest if your being dumb he will call you on it. As someone who has worked in this field of work I can honestly say it is hard work, you deal with a lot of people from different walks of life. It can be very rewarding and at times very stressful and that is probably something most people do not understand. If you want to be coddled and have your hand held this is not the place for you. If you want good, affordable pet care from someone who truly cares about the animals that come into the clinic and not whether he needs a new car or a new addition to his clinic or 3 other partners in his office then it is a good place to take your pets. Those who talk about his behavior with barking dogs, yes he has told me to stop mine from barking, so what its annoying and in a small clinic hard on the ears and disruptive to everyone else around you. Mine was an excited adolescent with a few manners lol I took his suggestion and made her stop barking. The point here is that when you find a good doctor that YOU like you go to them he may not be for you but he is for me. It is also his right to refuse service getting bit is not fun and I like the fact he protects his staff this way and cares enough to not put them in harms way. Try him out like I said if he is not for you what have you lost but then also what can you also gain?

I moved out of state and have yet to find vets that I trust as much as Dr. Mehne and Dr. O (alias Dr. Greg). Sure, this is sort of an eccentric veterinary clinic by todays standards--its small and decidedly un-fancy, you can walk in without an appointment, the vets are unique characters who go straight to the point and dont try to sell you on expensive procedures and things like chemotherapy for 14 year old cats, etc.....which is why I like them. These are vets cut from the old-school cloth: their focus is completely on the animals health and well-being. They are realistic, practical, and always prone to look for the simplest, most obvious, least invasive solutions first (which is generally the most effective option) rather than the solution that will guarantee them the biggest paycheck. This is a veterinary practice that is completely and utterly devoid of B.S. If you are doing something wrong with your pet, they will not hesitate to tell you, which is probably the source of the few negative reviews Ive seen around the web. However, they always tell you what you SHOULD be doing, how to accomplish it, etc. These are good people who really know animals and do everything they can to make it possible for owners to provide good, appropriate care.

This place is great if you really HATE your pet! My dog almost died because of this place. I called them because she had stopped eating and drinking liquids on her own for 2 days. They said to force pedialyte into her and wait it out. I called back after 2 days and told them that I was bringing her in (they actually tried to talk me out of it). When I brought her in, the vet "took an x-ray" and found "nothing" (they did not show us the x-ray he took). They told us to go home and keep giving her pedialyte. I own a chihuahua/dachshund mix maximum 11lbs dog, her weight was down to 6 lbs. and I POINTED IT OUT TO THEM!!! They did not even notice that she had dropped so much weight, they were completely oblivious. I then took her to the animal hospital because I was fed up with them, there they took one x-ray and showed it to us. You could clearly see where there was a mass in her stomach. Thankfully she survived the surgery, but if I would have waited just 1 more day I would have lost her forever. Good Luck to those of you who think paying less is worth it!

I brought in a cat I picked up that had been hit, not by me, but I picked him up out of the street right after. I was a hot mess, tears and such. I explained the situation and asked them to look at the cat, they gave me a rough diagnosis and told me they could keep him overnight. I said that would be great, they then proceeded to charge me about 130 bucks to keep a cat overnight with no positive outcome. The next day they called me with a different diagnosis and told me it would be at least another $500 to save the cat. Now, I dont have alot of money and had brought the animal there thinking that the vet would save the cat. Yknow, like someone with a heart, but apparently money was more important than the life of the poor animal. they told me that if I couldnt pay they would have to put the cat down, almost as if they were trying to guilt me. I simply could not afford it and had to let it go. I will never take another animal there again, the lack of compassion is astounding.

Dr. Mehne is knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Greg is not much of a people person (some could mistakenly interpret is as rude) but he is generally good with animals. After several years of taking my pet to the Animal Clinic, I decided to try another vet. I had to take my pet in several times within a short period for the same problem and it didnt really get any better. They do call and sometimes check on the pet after a visit; that is nice. They allow you to bring your pet in for a follow up within a month for no charge if the problem persists. Prices are reasonable. There were multiple times when I felt rushed out the door and my animal didnt even get touched by the doctor, just a quick look and prescription. Most folks will be happy with the service but I wasnt completely satisfied and decided try another doctor.

I was in search of a new clinic closer to home and this will be one I NEVER visit again!!! I took my 9 month old German Shepard there to check into her UTI. She was quiet and calm during the weigh in and did well. Then When I took her back into the exam room she started to get nervous after waiting quite some time she started barking, the doctor came in and asked who her old vet was and said to take her there in a rude manor. But I was fine until he told me I should shoot my dog trainer for my puppies behavior. But thats funny cause she is great dog with my wife and newborn baby, as well as anyone she meets. She just anxiety and barks, but has a Deep German Shepherd bark. I would highly recommend not visiting there. Just decided to post this to help anybody out and save them the hassle.
