this place is given too much credit in what it does. Yes it does offer diabetic options but other than that its a over popularized for its line of work. All you do is eat and sit in their day rooms watching tv/movies till the next meal and its just repeated from there. With some unhelpful groups they have placed on your schedule. They dont teach you how to better your self esteem or how to look at body shapes without societies standards in play. The staff are also inconsistent with almost every aspect they could possible be in. From being meals not on time to going against the rules/guidelines. Patients arent happy and dont learn. Only eat and sit.
i dont know why everyone seems to be in love with this place, because the treatment plans are often ineffective and my time with them as a minor was pure hell. i could barely control anything and every time i left i would end up feeling very angry or suicidal. the therapists and staff i had to work with didnt care about knowing any of my other mental illnesses (refused to do any work about them actually) even though they are something that plays into my eating disorder. basically i do not think that any of their treatment was in any way good for me or my mental health and i do not recommend melrose.
The staff and culture here are not visitor-friendly, and the methods this eating disorder clinic employs seem rather draconian -- my complaint is with the staff, who seem terrified of management as well as inclined to assume every guest is suspect. The program may be therapeutic and effective, but the culture needs serious attention.
Told me not to eat- less fat now! Great work, reccomend to all my fellow liberals.
