A note to the public reading these reviews: keep in mind this clinic (as are all the Nystrom & Assoc locations) mainly provide Mental Health Care. If previously unaware of this point you now know this. Thus as with any illness when a person who has not been feeling right but cant "shake it off", or a parent or family member who is very concerned about a loved one who has been exhibiting symptoms &/or behavior, speech,, sleep has changed so as to be a bit to quite worrisome, the logical step is to contact a Medical Provider to be seen. The brain is another organ in the body. Many people are still stuck in the thinking of Mental Health as a Bad thing when just as there is a chemical in the pancreas for example that if not sufficient amount, a person gets sick (Diabetes- Adult Unset) so is it is the same with brain. &, like the pancreas (again for example), with early intervention medication is not always necessary & other treatments (diet, exercise & monitoring...) may be enough. But at a later time, meds may need to be added. My point is people coming here are often in crisis or not in a good "place" mentally &/or emotionally & may sound rude & obnoxious when just trying to hold it together. And often, they feel terribly guilty for how they may have been perceived yet cant bring themselves to apologize because then they would have to verbalize out loud to "strangers" they have a Mental illness. Keep in mind too, the Receptionist, Phone Triage, Drs Nurses & others are working in a stressful environment (compared to most other people type clinics) & some dont stay long . Yet others do - get to know them. Others transfer to clinics closer to home or other departments. Plus new (government related) rules, standards, etc., are frequent, so its important that a staff member is positive of information he or she is relaying. Im a 10+ year client with same doctor @ same clinic. Ive moved nearly 30 min from A.V. but stayed with my Doctor & clinic even tho one is close by. Finally, a persons reaction can be affected positively or negatively by ones own outlook more than actual events. Thanks.

Horrible experience. I am not angry about it. I just wish to warn parents about this place. I completely understand why 98% of the people are giving them a terrible rating and why they are so uncomfortable with the care or the lack there of. As a mom the hair on the back of my neck stood up when we met our I assigned doctor. I could not quite identify the uneasiness I felt for her first appointment. Our second appointment confirmed this uneasiness. I will be seeking other mental health treatment if necessary. I will not continue on with this provider. How are providers like this not losing licenses? How are they not been reported to the state of Minnesota???? Any positive comments must be coming from the office as part of some sort of damage control. (which I am sure happens a lot with almost every company that is trying to recover some sort of rating.) I was on time for my sons appointment this morning to have him evaluated for ADD. I had left the parent questionnaire at home on my table accidentally. I requested a copy of the parent questionnaire from the doctor (caring) for my child. His response was they are too expensive to print, I can not give you another one. How can you possibly give my childs diagnosis of ADD without any parental input whatsoever?? Already, there is no questionnaire from his teachers because it is summer. The lobby was dirty, the staff were were very very Cold and seemed very disgusted with their jobs. It felt like a state run mental institution with very little funding. I would not recommend this place for anyone, but most especially any parent needing add evaluations for their child.

My experience with Nystrom & Associates has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. Their customer service is poor and impersonal, which is surprising since they supposedly specialize in treating mental health issues. They are way overpriced and extremely inflexible. I have never had such low quality service at any healthcare facility before. I recently gave my updated insurance information to two different people over the phone before my last appointment, and when I came in to the office they still didnt have the information in their system. The receptionist took a great deal of time searching the computer, copying my card and entering my information, and then after all of that, told me that there wouldnt be time for me to have my appointment and Id have to come back another time. They charged me over $100 for missing an appointment, even though I was there and had arrived only a couple of minutes after my scheduled time due to heavy traffic. Their regular rates are astronomical, charging over $600 for the initial intake appointment, which lasted less than half an hour, after I had spent nearly an hour filling out a massive questionnaire that the nurse barely looked at when I finally went in, and they charged over $200 for a 20 minute follow-up appointment with a nurse. This appears to be a large corporation that is out to make money and seems to care very little for the welfare of the patients. Overall, my experience with Nystrom & Associates has been extremely negative, and I would recommend that people look around for a more professional doctor or clinic rather than going here. I will never go back.

origonally, the only problem was the Dr was always running behind because she had too many patients. Our Dr left and we had enough of my sons prescription to last a while till my schedule settled down so I could make an appt. with another dr. I dropped the prescription off on Wed, on Friday I went to pick it up and was told by the pharmacy that Nystrom denied the medication because the Dr who wrote it doesnt work with them anymore. I called Nystrom and was told, they couldnt do anything about it because the dr/nurses had all left for the day...It was 3:30pm! I proceeded to tell them my son was completely out of meds and it couldnt wait till Monday. She called the on call person and left a message, their response was they couldnt do anything until he was seen. The next opening isnt till mid March! What a crock of crap. Useless jerks. I HATE THESE PEOPLE. I WISH THERE WAS A NEGITIVE START RATING.... so just to update this even further, I found a doc to see my son. I went to Nystrom and filled out a medical record release form expecting that they should be able to print out copies of his med records and I could pick them up the next day before his appt... 7-10 days... they are not able to copy my records for 7-10 days, "the person that does that service has left for the day and wont be in tomorrow at all". IT IS 1 OCLOCK IN THE FN AFTER NOON ON TUESDAY! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! USELESS JERKS.

It has been years since I have gone to this clinic. My provider retired and I needed another psychiatrist. I had to do an intake interview that was quite expensive, when I had already been going there for years. I ended it because the psychiatrist was rather rude. He said he wasnt going to lie for me to get disability. I needed to have a doctor provide information to my companys insurance provider. The only reason I had the appointment with him was that my doctor retired the month before! I had severe depression, severe enough to go on my companys disability program. I was functioning at a 40, and eventually went on SSDI. I also was diagnosed by another clinic as having bipolar disorder. Another gentleman I started seeing kept telling me what I thought and felt. This clinic turned me off; I experienced nothing "Christian" about the care. What I did experience was a for-profit clinic.
