As a U of M employee, Boynton used to be my primary care clinic. After several frustrating years of terrible service, difficulty scheduling appointments, mistakes in records/accounting, etc., my family switched primary care clinics. Recently, I decided to make an appointment at Boynton again as my current clinic did not have an opening and I wanted to see someone right away. I now remember why I left Boynton in the first place. Once again, it was a frustrating experience. Long story, but here it is ... I left work early and rushed to get there for my appointment - but with traffic, trying to leave get out of work, etc., I was TWO MINUTES late. My appointment was at 4:20, I arrived at 4:22. Upon check-in, I was told I would have to wait while they check with the provider to see if I could still be seen. That was fine - I was understanding at this point because I was a couple minutes late. But then the person at check-in could not locate the doctor or the nurse, and proceeded to spend SEVERAL minutes searching the clinic for them. He finally returned to the check-in desk at 4:30 and said he couldnt find anyone. I could either re-schedule, or he could check me in anyway and see what happens. I decided to check in anyway. I proceed to the waiting room and wait a few more minutes - then I hear a doctor and nurse whispering nearby and gesturing toward me. The nurse then approaches and instructs me because I was TEN minutes late checking in for my appointment (they had my check-in time as 4:30), I cant be seen. I explain that I actually arrived at 4:22, but the person at check-in spent several minutes looking for them before checking me in. As usual, the attitude from everyone was "too bad, so sad" - NEXT! Anyway, the point of this is not really the details of the situation - its the attitude I always receive at Boynton. The rules, procedures, money, and clock ALWAYS overrule patient care. When I used to be a regular patient, I was told several times that I had only 15 minutes for my appointment so they could herd more people through the door. Many times, I had to schedule a 2nd or 3rd visit because the doctor couldnt finish everything in the allotted 15 minutes (because by the time I got in there, we had about 5 minutes left of the 15). Its cattle call medical care. Thank you, Boynton, for reminding me why I left in the first place and why I will NEVER be back. I would rather wait 3 weeks to see my primary care physician.

Easily the most incompetent staff of any health service I have encountered in my life, specifically in the pharmacy. Paperwork is constantly being lost, the process to have them fill a medication is way more difficult than it needs to be, and they dont let you know if a prescription is out of refills or cant be filled until you walk up to the counter after calling it in and asking for it. The travel services are great, and the nurses in the travel services are also great. But in the end, from the times Ive been there, Boynton is just another business looking to nickel and dime you and then screw you over some more with horrible customer service (for instance I have been prescribed medication that was essentially Dayquil but the PA told me it was necessary for me to use this one specifically and when I compared the ingredient lists between the two, they were the exact same, the Boynton one just cost me more. Ive never had this experience with other doctors or PAs at other offices/hospitals). I understand long waiting times which most people are complaining about, but because its an urgent care on campus of a 40,000+ student school the waiting times are going to be 1-2 hours in the winter and on busy days when everyone is ill, and nothing can be done about it. If I could leave 0 out of 5 stars I would or even then I would leave negative stars. AVOID BOYNTON AT ALL COSTS. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the many nearby hospitals that have an urgent care, such as Fairview riverside over on west bank.

I feel upset because my HIPAA rights were not protected, and I can no longer trust Boynton to send me mail to my confidential address. Today, I called Boynton because I noticed that there was a hold on my student account when I tried to access my college transcript. (Im an alumni by the way and graduated in May 2016.) I called Boynton to ask about the hold and they told me that I had an overdue bill that was sent over to Diversified Adjustment Inc., a debt collector agency. They told me that I would have to contact them at a toll-free number to pay the bill. When I called the debt collector agency, they told me that they had an address that was different from my confidential address, which makes me think that theyve been mailing letters to my non-confidential address. I am disappointed at Boynton because I feel that my HIPAA rights were not protected. (HIPAA is a federal law where health care providers have to protect our privacy. Im not a U.S. citizen, but I think HIPAA should have applied to me also.) Not only that, they didnt even try to email me or call me to let me know that I had an overdue bill. Can you imagine how upset I am over this breach of privacy? I used to trust them. Of note, I tried to write my review from my UMN account but was not allowed to do so by Google. I’m writing my review from my personal email.

If you have a choice, avoid Boynton at all costs. Appointment times (with a physician) rarely ever start on time. The few times I have been there, I had to wait over 35 minutes just to be called in by the nurse. Why have appointment times, if they dont mean anything. Weekend urgent care services are even worse with them refusing you service if they dont deem your pain urgent enough. I was turned away for service today because my pain was not urgent enough and I was asked to come back during a weekday. NO ONE WAS BEING SERVICED IN THE URGENT CARE BESIDE ME, but the staff refused me service anyway. Worst part is that the student health benefit plan basically forces you to go to this dump of a clinic. I cannot wait until I graduate and wont have to deal with this poor service. Shame on you University of Minnesota for providing students with such sub-par service. The eye clinic however is fantastic! The optometrists are friendly, punctual, and very helpful!

If I could give it any less than 1 star, I totally would. Took an appoint for a complete physical and checked in 10 mins before my appointment time. I waited for 1 hour when I finally put my foot down and asked the lady to check what was going on. This was after being asked to wait for my turn a couple of times. She left the desk immediately and another lady came to me to say that they had forgotten to press the Check In button and hence, I was not on their system!! And the doctor who was supposed to see me had left for the day. She took to me to another floor to get some other doctor to see me. When everyone refused, she tried get me to say yes to a check up that I did not need at all!! Horrible service recover plan - if thats what they are trying to do. I left that day without any service after spending almost 2 hours there.
