I have been to this doctor’s office since my first child was born. 9-11-08 Matter of fact Dr. Hill delivered my child who nearly died. I have always loved this doctor’s office until recently. My second son was born and was immediately carried upstairs to have fluid taken out of his lungs. Since then my son struggles with one respiratory infection (both viral and bacterial) after another ever since. He was diagnosed by Dr. Blackstone and Dr. Solanki with asthma under a year old after being hospitalized for a week with RSV. He has had a preventive, Zyrtec, and ablution since. He is now 21 months old and recently saw a doctor there this past Friday which had been a scheduled appointment for awhile. Two days prior to that I had to rush my child to the emergency room for breathing, hoarse, and had a 102.7 temperature WITH Tylenol AND Motrin mixed. I had 7 people witness that my child was wheezing heavily and had hard time breathing. When I got to the hospital after he got two puffs of Albuterol and they did not hear wheezing (typical because I had given him the medicine before we left and drove 45 minutes to the hospital). My son was sounding terrible and was diagnosed with the Croup. Two days later we went to his scheduled appointment, (again drove 45 minutes from work) to an ASTHMA ACTION PLAN appt. At every appointment here they ask you like 20 questions about what is going on with your child. The appt ended up being a follow up about the Croup and being seen. He told me he said it wouldn’t be asthma (which I was still administering the Albuterol because the emergency room doctor told me to and he was still wheezing) and that he thought he might not have asthma. Then he said that children this age tend to get at least 8 viral infections a year. OK well let’s count them because all of my sons "viral infections" are RESPIRATORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hmmmmmmm. I felt like I was being called a liar and that my son was not wheezing. It was dismissed because when the doctor saw my son (whom was medicated and still had a low grade fever) he was OK. I just dont like feeling like i am a liar and being dismissed. What was the point in asking me 20 different questions if they dont acknowledge what the parent is saying? I feel like my observation (being I am with my child a HELL of a lot longer than they are) was not valued. I just feel like if you are a parent you are an idiot. Bottom line you are an idiot you dont know anything about your child and they could care less what the heck you think. My child continued to run a fever over the weekend. I called the doctor back and he said come back in. He would not give my child an antibiotic or talk with me. It was done through messages by nurses. So when I had questions I couldn’t get the answer. Then the nurses on the line NEVER return your phone call. Needless to say after three years we aren’t going back! Sadly I have recommended this place over and over again to new mothers and at the daycare facility countless times. I would hate to go back on my word. I dont like to be dismissed, then ignored on the claims that I made. I know my child, I know what hard breathing is like. Just because they do not observe what I see doesnt necessarily mean it didnt happen. I am furious with the service that WASNT provided Friday. And then when I tried to call to see about an antibiotic he didnt want to give him one. I just dont understand. It is much more harder to be an outsider looking in on what I am talking about. But the manner that he put in "lame" terms for me (aka you are an idiot parent) was just rude, simply rude. This business needs to even try to act like they value what the childs parent is saying. I am not saying it for my health and believe me when I say I didnt make that drive for my health or fun but for my childs health. Consider that next time you look at a parent and pretty much dismiss and ignore what they are saying!

Excellent service! Dr. Pollock has been the pediatrician to our 4 girls since our second was born since 10-16-2004. Dr. Pollock is the ONLY doctor that will ever see our girls, period. I have driven from PA, SC, NJ and FL just to come home for my girls to have Dr. Pollock be their doctor. Hoke has 4 boys and a girl; he knows what its like to be a father, spouse and grew up with a father who is an ENT doctor. Hokes wife is a doctor as well. Dr. Pollock is NOT an IGNORANT CARELESS DOCTOR who pushes the flu shots, pills down your children mouths nor will he ever give you ill advice. Cape Fear Pediatrics is top notch! We had "the best" Childrens Hospital Dr.s in Pittsburgh for our newborn-the 4th; what a shame and sick group of doctors forcing your children to have a flu shot and shots that were off the wall pathetic. The doctor (we got stuck with if you will) would not stop about Vitamin D shots---hello--- we do not live in a tundra. Dr. Pollock noticed a HUGE issue with our daughters vaccine records from Pittsburgh and made sure the girls had what they needed. I would fully recommend Cape Fear as I have a many of times to people in Wilmington/Jacksonville and the surrounding territories. I have NEVER had an issue making an appointment; thats for 4 children. Yes, some Dr.s dont have children and dont have a great bed-side manner no matter where you go in life. Get over it!!! No matter where you go in life when it comes to your child you want the very best; slamming Cape Fear is not correct. I lived in Wilmington and adore the territory. The medical staff at Cape Fear is fabulous. Please dont slam Cape Fear; maybe you just had a bad day. The staff is great, offices are clean and the staff is not stupid. It also helps to arrive at the office at least 20 mins early... A bad doctor is this... Oh, and the woman in Pittsburgh... An ER doctor in Wilmington tried to perform a DNC 12/2005 on me and I told him no, dont touch me. He told me that our baby was dead. DEAD! Well, Piper was very much alive. How many ER doctors have preformed DNCs when the baby was alive? If you want a cold doctor; deal with the ER doctor that I had. You could hear an ant hiccup thats how quite it was in my OBGYN office and during my ultrasound. I kept telling my husband that the baby was still alive. SHE WAS!!!

Ive been going to Cape Fear Pediatrics which is now KidzCare Pediatrics for 3 years. We used to love this office but this new merger KidzCare is AWFUL. Unanswered calls, horrible new staff, and unorganized. Ive had to come in to schedule an appointment because I couldnt get a hold of anyone for 2 days. When I got to the office they had an opening with my sons Doctor in a couple hrs so we just came back in. After coming back and waiting, they told me my spot was with another doctor I said no thats why I came back because our regular doc had an opening. The girl apologized and she realized it was their fault and squeezed us in. Ive been to the office 3 times since the new merge to KidzCare and all 3 times Ive had issues. After the first issue, the next visit they forgot to call my son and my husband waited with him for 2 hours. One ladys daughter was throwing up in the lobby..the office staff came to help give her some stuff to wipe it up but I didnt see them sanitize the area at ALL..no spray, nothing. I was in shock and ended up telling one of the medical staff. The third I forgot my sons Insurance card and they warned me after 3 times of not bringing in his card I will be considered self-pay...the lady was super rude. They couldnt even give me a reasoning of why thats even a policy. Ive never heard of such a thing if they have the information on file that has not changed. My husband and I are looking into switching offices but love our sons Doctor so its hard. Please do something about the new merge. It is horrible!
