Amazing people, even more amazing pricing. They dont "gouge". My cat would have died, I think and they kept her for 4 days. Thought the bill would be more than it was, but I still didnt have it all, at the time. They worked with me. I payed the balance when I promised, and was happy to do so. My 15-year-old cat is back to her younger-than-self. Love these people! UPDATE: Stopped in, for flea meds for my rescue doggies, (who are also taken care of there), and they remembered my cat, asked how she is doing! (She is doing extremely well!!) UPDATE AGAIN: Over a year later, from when I wrote this, and if I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Dr. Mitchell and his staff are all that is wonderful. They truly care about the animals they care for.

Dr. Mitchell and his staff are absolutely amazing! If youre looking for a vet with all the bells and whistles, this place is not for you. They dont even have a fax machine. Thats the only negative thing about this place. The doctor does not try to do lots of unnecessary things just to get more money. Its easy to get appointments. They are good at getting you same-day appointments or fitting you in if you need it. Because there is one doctor, youre not waiting a long time with a bunch of other animals in the waiting room. You can tell the doctor is more interested in making sure your animal is healthy rather than taking your money. He only does the stuff that has to be done. We love Dr Mitchell and his staff and will continue coming here until he retires!

I could not sing better praises about Dr. Mitchell and the Westport Animal Hospital staff! I recently moved to Louisville and had been shopping around for vets when my puppy hurt his leg. I ended up taking my puppy to Dr. Mitchell for a second opinion. He told me to bring him in on a Monday for X-rays. They open at 8am and I told Dr. Mitchell that I had to leave for work at 7am and it was a new job so I didnt want to be late. He made special arrangements for me to drop my puppy off at 6:30am and made me feel 100% comfortable with leaving him there!! He made sure to explain everything to me and gave me an estimate of how much everything would cost so I would be prepared. Needless to say I have found my vet!

I took my dog in because he kept shaking his ears. They prescribed an ear drop called Otomax. I noticed my dog seemed to have some hearing loss, so I took him back in was told "The medicine could have caused it", which the vet never mentioned. His response was "Well any anti-biotic in the ear could cause that to happen", as if I was supposed to know it. He claimed it was a "one in a million chance"...except that a quick google search turned up all kinds of articles about the drug causing hearing loss. Next time, I will go home and research any medication before administering, but I trusted my vet. Do not take your animal here

Dr Mitchell has a very practical approach to treating our 13 1/2 yr old Bichon, who has multiple problems. We appreciate the calm approach to treating her diabetes and Cushings disease. She wont eat dog food anymore and thats ok w him! We dont have to feel guilty anymore for not checking glucoses. She is really under better control than she has been. He has just a calm, common sense attitude that is very reassuring. The office isnt fancy, but a very competent and friendly staff is far more to our liking. We would recommend Dr Ron Mitchell to anyone! Definitely feel we are in the right place for the care of our dog!!

Dr. Mitchell is a reasonable vet all around. He takes good care of my pets, but is not reactionary. No pushing unnecessary tests or procedures, but still thorough and careful. His prices are fair and he does not take advantage of how much we love our pets, which I appreciate. I trust Dr.Mitchell. Because he usually tells me *not* to worry about this or that, I have confidence that if he tells me my cats or dogs need something --they really do.

I absolutely LOVE this place. Everyone who works there is so friendly and amazing and Dr. Mitchell is a man who truly cares about the animals and NOT the price. He will always take care of your animals and work with you on the cost if need be. I have 4 dogs and I wouldnt trust anyone else in this city with their care. I couldnt recommend him any higher, and this is coming from someone who is extremely picky and careful about their animals care.
