Im taking care of my dads dog and he was having a very hard time holding in his pee so I took him to the vet to get his urine tested to make sure that he didnt have a bladder infection. We waited in the exam room for 45 minutes before a tech came in and asked what we were in for. After another 20 minutes the vet came in to tell us that the issue was just a lack of training and that we didnt need to come in. We had to fight the vet to get him to take a urine sample and test it after he essentially told us we were wasting his time. He then came back to tell me that the urine came back with a very high pH and crystals on the way to forming bladder stones. He then directed us to a food that was supposed to balance the pH and get rid of the crystals without telling us the cause of the imbalance and without explaining what the food would do (we found out on our own later that the cause of the crystals was due to poor protein in his diet). The prescription food itself was nutritionally worse than the food that got him sick in the first place. The vet didnt explain, either, that the food would cause increased urination-instead of dissolving the crystals or redressing the lack of protein, it would just make him pee more. This would have been bad, but it was compounded by the lack of interest and utter lack of service shown by the staff and veterinarian for the dog. They didnt care at all that he was in pain or that we were ruling out all possible issues, but that we seemed to be wasting their time. We were told later that the reason we waited so long was that they were short staffed, yet we heard a tech say goodbye to everyone in the back room and leave for the day while we were waiting. The whole episode lasted nearly 2 and a half hours in which the vet made us feel like idiots, the staff ignored us and no one explained the underlying problem with the dog.

I am so disappointed by this Banfield location! Over the past 3-4 years, we have seen a steady decline in quality and attentiveness from the employees. The Vets and support staff are clueless and have no idea what "communication" means. Over 3 weeks ago, my pet had a rash (which he has had before in the past which resolved with Simplicef), so I took him in to be evaluated. I was told that they were too busy and to try a different Banfield location. At their recommendation, I drove up to the Techridge location to be seen. He was evaluated and given antibiotics, although it was a different antibiotic this time which did not help and allowed the bacterial infection worsen. After our 3rd follow up at Balcones Banfield (and $400 later), we had a culture performed because the rash had worsened. After much insistence, we finally received a prescription for Simplicef - but only 1/2 prescription course pending culture results. I was disappointed, but optimistic that we were finally on the right track. I was told that I would be called with results in a few days and the other 1/2 of the prescription would be released to me "if it was necessary". Well, 10 days later, I still had no response and we had to take our dog to the ER at Banfield Southpark Meadows for IV fluids, antibiotics and pain medication because the bacterial infection had progressed too far. He was saved but needed to stay on antibiotics. Now, 3 weeks have passed, and I had finished the antibiotics and the infection (although improving) was not cleared yet. I called the Balcones location again to get culture results and was told that there was "no results that they could see". I was told to continue the antibiotics and steroids but when I went to the location to pick them up, they would not release them to me!?!?! Get your act together Banfield Balcones! I will NOT be back to this location.

My Boston Terrier Marv has been with Banfield since his first 6 week old checkup and has been in regularly for all his proper checkups. He has had a few issues once or twice, an eye infection a couple of years ago and a bacterial infection about 9 months ago. On Sunday he ran in to bushes and I guess he got pocked in the eye, by Sunday evening the pink flesh in the corner of his eye was inflamed and hanging out almost. When I called Banfield I was told it was not an emergency and they can fit him in 5 days later on Friday!!! This of course will not do at all, you try walking around for a week with part of your eye hanging out! The very polite girl who answered told me she would see if the vet could see him if I left him all day in the store. I never got a call back. Your location is badly organized and obviously understaffed.

The staff and Dr.s are friendly and are a great help at the actual location, but Banfield as a business in general is trash and I highly recommend going to a local vet who has their own practice and not some chain like Banfield. When calling the HQ asking for a reimbursement that they messed up on they said they couldnt refund me the money or cancel my wellness plan, even when they admitted fault. I was even told they were going to mail me a letter stating that after this year my account would be terminated.....im still waiting. If you love your dog or cat or America, dont take them here. Place is ran by commies

Website says walk-ins welcome, so we took our cat in and learn we have to make an appointment. None available for several days unless we just want to leave our pet all day so they can "fit him in". Were not fans of leaving him for exposure where other animals with contagious conditions and fleas are in proximity. Front staff seems disinterested in anything other than convenience of staff. Previously brought another pet in here and the doctor had no idea what the problem was, but charged for tests. Simple diagnosis at another practice next day. Go elsewhere.

My dog has had chronic ear infections for years. I recently moved here and brought him to Banfield and they charged me for two different ear swabs to come up with the brilliant conclusion of yeast. Well, all you had to do was smell the ear or ask me but I guess its more fun to overcharge the customer. I stupidly brought him back and they wouldnt give me any medication for him without doing another ear swab. All they care about is making money. I wont be going back.
