Anyone who wants the best care for their pets should have this knowledge about West Lynn Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Hanks, the sole veterinarian practicing there right now had his license suspended for 2 years (94-96) for abuse of small animals including cats and dogs; other veterinarians at his practice as well as employees including vet techs in his employ gave depositions detailing their witnessed accounts of abuse, many times focusing on choking (to the point of unconsciousness) and hitting the animals. I realize people make mistakes and should be given opportunities to change; HOWEVER, recently a cat owner new to Austin took the family cats to this vet and witnessed excessively rough treatment of the cats and will not return to the clinic. It appears he has not changed since the suspension in 1994. Dr. Hanks graduated a DVM in 1974 from Texas A&M and it seems unlikely that in 20 years he would spontaneously develop an abusive nature and commit acts of cruelty. It is more likely, in my subjective opinion that these practices were ingrained gradually over those 20years and are therefore, unlikely to change. These facts combined with the many comments here regarding experiences of clients feeling they were pushed into very expensive treatments/tests/products leaves me with feeling that Dr. Hanks is not a veterinarian with a calling to protect and heal animals, but rather a callous gentleman who has found a lucrative vocation and is a means to become wealthy and will not voluntarily ever give that up by ceasing practice. PLEASE BE AWARE AND DO NOT TRUST THIS VETERINARIAN WITH YOURS PETS!

I just read all the reviews. You must understand that the bad reviews were of the previous vet who sold this practice. So ignore those and the below five star rating. This is an absolutely SUPERB animal clinic. Everyone there is solicitous and knowledgeable. Even though we are not regular customers -- we use our neighborhood mobile vet, who will refer is to West Lynn when necessary -- West Lynn worked us in not once but twice, despite being packed with patients, because our dog had an emergency. The care was excellent, and even after we had to send our dog to the hospital, Dr. Faludi continued to call us to check up on his health and to consult with us about his treatment. We were facing the prospect of possibly having to put our beloved dog to sleep, and Dr. Faludi struck exactly the right balance in presenting the two strategies of continuing treatment or effecting a euthanasia. The service at the clinic was prompt, despite the fact that there were many patients. There was never any hint of recommending anything expensive just to make money. Everything they did was necessary. Dr. Faludi was happy to talk to us at length, both in person and on the phone. I never felt that she was trying to hurry the conversation. She also connected us to an excellent specialist. We credit Dr. Faludi and the doctor she referred us to with saving our dogs life. We recommend West Lynn without qualification and, in fact, with great thankfulness.

Dr. Fauldi, Dr. Whitworth and staff are simply amazing. All of our pets (3 cats & 2 dogs) have been lovingly taken care of over the years by West Lynn Vet Clinic and we wouldnt have it any other way. The staff is always a big help in explaining conditions, symptoms, medications beyond what is written on the label, and is always there to help give advice based on personal experience with their pets. When we lost one of our cats (Sammy) last year Dr. Whitworth took care of my wife and I during this very hard to deal with moment. I couldnt have asked for it to have gone any smoother considering the circumstances and I will never forget Dr. Whitworths kind and simple words when Sammy passed which was "She is now at peace". Furthermore the staff took time to do a paw print of Sammy for us in a piece of clay that has become our little memorial for her. We are truly happy to have our pets cared for by West Lynn Veterinary Clinic.

Ive been visiting West Lynn ever since I moved to Austin in 2009 with my dog, Timber. Timber was 8 then, and West Lynn gave him amazing care for the rest of his life—from treating frequent skin infections, to seeing him when he was hit by two cars, to kenneling him when our regular kennel was full, to the end of his life (which they were incredibly kind after, sending condolences and check-ins, and even donating to a Texas A&M veterinary fund). The entire staff is compassionate, loving, and caring. I now have a puppy, Jack Cousteau, and he, too, sees the wonderful techs and doctors at West Lynn Vet. They refer to him as "Timbers little brother," and treat us both like family. I know there are many wonderful vets in the Austin community, but the folks at West Lynn will always have my loyalty. They will give your pets the treatment and love they give their own.

I took my cat in because she had a reaction to a vaccine she received from my usual vet, who was closed that day. After telling the vet what I thought was going on, he proceeded to twice torture her by shoving a metal rod down her throat thinking that she might have swallowed something. After he ruled that out, he then concluded that she was probably just having a reaction to the vaccine and gave her a Benadryl shot (which worked). Of course before he came to this conclusion he tried to get me to do blood work and other tests that would have racked up my bill to $400. Of course he did not volunteer this information, I had to ask. I have never had a vet try to sell me on a bunch of tests -- instead, they do one test at a time to rule things out. The whole experience just felt shady.

I’ve been taking my furry children to West Lynn for several years. I can wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone who wants great veterinary care. With an introduction like that, I must think highly of these three veterinarians’ medical expertise. Beyond that, everyone at this clinic loves furries and truly cares whether my kids are happy—mom and dad, too. One other thing I find striking about about West Lynn: Ive _never_ seen "ego" here, unlike other clinics. The vets confer with each other and their staff. In the case of my older boy, they referred me to an expert chiropractor and acupuncturist. This mix of Eastern and Western medicine has kept a little dog on his paws. My point is, these are open-minded people who have your kids at heart.

This is THE place for care for your animals. They really DO care. I can barely speak to it all- the staff and techs are awesome. I always surprises me that they know my dog, when I call. Um... It shouldnt. He has a seizure disorder- docs have been fabulous and knowledgeable with that care. And when they had a question, they consulted an expert, in his disease. Quite without me having to be there. COOL! Then? He REALLY, really doesnt like his paws to be touched. Makes nail trims, shall we say, LOUD! Techs are so good to him... Well run office- if you need a "squeeze in" they are there. Everybody in this office is a fan of animals, and the humans feel as comfortable as the pets do. I cross the city to get there. SO very worth it.
