I found out about Safe Harbor Animal Hospital after asking friends who the very best vet in town was. My 1 1/2 year old Toy Fox Terrier is very, very precious to me and had been throwing up everything she ate or drank for 4 days. Her previous vet didnt know the cause of her condition, and she was worse off after both of the 2 visits I sent her there for this illness. Since she is only 8 1/2 lbs. and my friends dog recently died of a similar condition I was alarmed. When Dr. Richelle Smith saw my Pixie, she took longer than any vet I have ever met to examine her, explain what the potential problems were and come up with a treatment plan, and a backup plan. Pixie wound up needing surgery and medications but less than a week later, she is back to her normal happy little self and on the mend. In addition to obviously knowing her veterinary medicine, Dr. Smith is kind and obviously loves animals. She called every single night, even on the weekend to check on Pixies progress. I am so glad I found her, I believe she saved my dogs life.

Dr. Smith is fantastic with our cats. Weve had multiple cats who needed surgery and shes always done a wonderful job. She absolutely loves animals and it shows in every interaction. She answers questions thoroughly and always explains all care options carefully. Normally, cats hate going anywhere, especially the vet, but one of my cats actually loves going to the vet! Hes always happy to see Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff and he loves the treats. Safe Harbor Animal Hospital is completely across town from where we live. I probably drive past five other veterinarians to get there, and I would never take my pets anywhere else. Also I interviewed veterinarians and their staff at three or four other offices as well before choosing Dr. Smith. After those conversations, the choice was obvious. Years later, Im still thrilled with the care my pets receive!

I brought my little Ollie to Safe Harbor once on a whim, and I will never go anywhere else ever again. The staff is truly incredible - the type of people who just live for animals. From the girls at the front desk to the doctor to the folks who do the nail clipping, every single person makes me and my dog feel like royalty. They take the time to make both myself and my puppy feel comfortable before any type of exam or procedure - lots of playing and treats :) And for the humans they have a Keurig in the waiting room (aahhhh). I drive an hour away from my home to make sure my dog gets taken care of at Safe Harbor, and Im happy to do it. Please take my word for it that this is a spectacular place to take your little ones. I really dont have enough kind words to say about Safe Harbor - just trust me! :)

Loved my experience at Safe Harbor!!! I am new to the area and found Safe Harbor online. They treated my pup so well!!!! Harley will not be afraid to go back despite his nasty ear infection they treated and testing of an odd growth he had. I could not be happier with any aspect of my visit. If youre looking for a new veterinarian, Dr. Smith and her team at Safe Harbor is an Excellent Choice!!!

Safe Harbor took great care of our pets for 13 years; I wouldnt take them anywhere else. Dr. Smith and her staff are all very knowledgeable and patient. and they get to know you and your pets. I would recommend the clinic to anyone looking for an office that doesnt treat you like a number.

A very warm and caring yet professional atmosphere. Dr Smith is extremely knowledgeable and has provided many insights as to the care of our pets over the years. Appointments are not rushed and all concerns are addressed. A much more relaxed experience for pet owners and our pets.
