Last Thursday, I developed some severe right flank pain. No other symptoms. I thought this was due to my personal training sessions earlier in the week, and was just a pulled muscle. However, woke up then next day with significantly worse flank pain. No other symptoms, but it was enough for me to have to stay home from work. By Saturday it was much worse. Went to immediate care at Providence Scholls, to have my urine dipped and better pain medications. I was suspecting a kidney stone. Sent back home with a shot of Toradol, and felt much better. The next morning, pain medications started wearing off, and I would barely move. No position was comfortable. I was in tears. Decided to go to Providence Newberg Medical Center ER, since wait time would likely be less than at Providence St. Vincent’s. I live in Tigard, so Newberg not too far. Newberg ER got me back in a timely manner, and I was thoroughly evaluated by a physician’s assistant I had a CT scan and ultrasound, all of which went smoothly. Rather than my kidney, this turned out to be an angry gall bladder, with a large stone. The ER got my pain under control, and sent me home, with a plan to schedule surgery for a cholecystectomy ASAP. Unfortunately, overnight my pain worsened. Was thankfully able to get in the Dr. Richard Fisher that day and had surgery the following day. The day of surgery went smoothly, from check in all the way to postop. The staff, especially the nursing staff was professional, gentle, and explained every step of the way. Dr. Fisher is very laid back, makes you feel at ease. A huge thank you to him and his OR staff, and to my preop and recovery nurse, Lisa. I highly recommend Providence Newberg. Sometimes the smaller hospitals are perfect for those standard procedures. I am a nurse practitioner and a former ICU nurse. I am truly impressed with how they handled my situation, from ER to OR to home. Thank you!!

My son dislocated his shoulder and I took him to the emergency room. Saw a lobby full of patients who have also been waiting there too long. My son was in extreme pain and no came out to the waiting area to at least triage him. We waited for about 20 minutes and I noticed my son seemed as if was going to pass out from the pain, so I decided to take him to Providence in Newberg. As soon as we got there, they took him in within 30 seconds and started document his situation and then took him back right away. They took care of him ASAP. I too work at a clinic and many patients have already told me their experience at WVMC. Aparently they only care about your money, and they will NOT consider your situation an emergency unless you Stop Breathing. I know for a fact they even brought over to our clinic a homeless person on a wheel chair because they refused to have the patient there. I remeber she had leg pain. Its unfortunate to see those situations happen. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO WILLAMETTE VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER. They only care about your money, not about your health. PROVIDENCE in NEWBERG are the BEST. Their staff are amazing and they seem to process your care much quicker. Thank you Providence.

Just walked out of the emergency room. I had been waiting the longest (over 2 hours) after I experienced a fall and had back/lung pain. Although the emergency room lobby was empty, they said they had some ambulances they had to take care of. Others came and were called back, but it was obvious, they needed medical attention. What upset me most, was a young girl around 18 that came in with her mother. The mother knew the receptionist who wasnt friendly at all with anyone else. The mother told the receptionist that they did not want to wait long. The girl used the bathroom, and they called her back. She didnt even have to go to triage! That was it for me. When I told them I was in pain, (before the young girl came in) the receptionist said to go ahead and take my tylenol because she didnt know how long it was going to take and the only place they had for me to lie down was a bench that was occupied by other patients. Worst patient treatment from the front office staff.

They will distort your treatment to take advantage of you financially and will then lie to you about your bill. I was told as long as I made payments I would not be sent to collections. Three months later I get a collections notice after paying $80 a month. I told them I could not afford the minimum ($360 per month) since I was a student and had no income. After a half hour conversation they told me they could drop it to $280 per month. I told them I couldnt do it since I have no income and am borrowing to pay as I am. They replied that they didnt care and were going to send me to collections instead of working with me. Had to take a personal loan from a bank to avoid collections. Extremely pissed off. Avoid this hospital, the terrible care they provide, and they worthless people who work there to "help you".

Do not go here! I came in about 2 weeks ago cuz I needed my meds adjusted. Well, after the Dr. said he can fill one of the 2 meds I got irritated and said "Now, I feel suicidal and headed toward the door. Um, WTF? In Portland if you say that, it is a code grey and security is called. NOTHING! THIS DR. ACTUALLY HELPED ME OUT EVEN THOUGH I SAID IM GONNA DRIVE MY CAR INTO A DITCH. NOTHING AGAIN! So I called Washington County crisis line and the call dropped or something. They are usually trained to call back or send someone out. NOTHING AGAIN! I managed to just get something to eat, but Im warning everyone right now to NOT GO TO PROVIDENCE NEWBERG AND ALSO WASHINGTON COUNTY CRISIS LINE IS THE SAME WAY. They wouldve had a huge lawsuit if I did follow up with my plan.

Another terrible experience. Living up off of Mtn Top, its our only option for a hospital. Our son fell from quite a distance and was having a difficult time moving his upper body w/o severe pain while breathing. They arrived at 6:45 pm with nobody in the lobby waiting. After a long wait they were taken back and passed many empty rooms. Eventually they called for an xray... after the tech was finished they waited over an hour for results with no findings. After a 3.5 hrs and nearly the only patients in the ER, they were discharged. So many employees just sitting and talking. Very little communication. Sad that its Newberg and Dundees only ER. As many poor experiences as weve had I seriously think of moving since we have a little boy with lung issues.

family member was refused treatment because the receptionist thought he was under the influence after complaining of severe migraine headaches. BTW, Thank you ER receptionist for your incorrect diagnoses. He was, later that same day, taken to OHSU and had brain surgery to alleviate the migraine symptoms had multiple MRI and CT scans that verified the need of medical treatment. I just am so upset tat this hospital is allowing receptionist and nurses to diagnose who gets treatment and who does not. Since it is illegal for anyone who is not a doctor to diagnose, you will be hearing from law enforcement. ZERO STARS please have your medical needs taken care of by real doctors not this low standard of health hospital. SHAME ON YOU!
