I was deliberately misinformed by the staff at VisionWorks Brookline. I walked into the VisionWorks Brookline location and asked if they accepted VSP insurance and I was told by the lady in front that they did. I later called to make an appointment and during the conversation I asked what the cost would be for my exam and was told they couldn’t tell me until they checked my insurance. That sounded odd because I expected copay to be standard or at least to be within a certain a range and I tried to explain that I did not want to be surprised by high fees when I came in for my appointment. The day of my appointment, I arrived and was told that my insurance did not cover the contact lens exam. I regret not walking out as soon as she said that because I was pretty sure my coverage included contact lens exam. I wear contacts every day and made sure to get a plan that would cover my contact lens examination. Anyway I assumed it was a mistake and figured I would sort things out once I was done with the exam. After the eye exam, I was told the total was $122. I asked for a breakdown and was told the vision exam cost $35, the contact exam cost $48 after a $12 discount from my insurance, and the retinal image cost $39. I asked if they were really a network provider for VSP because I didn’t understand why the copay was $35 instead of $10 which was indicated on the form which I filled out. The lady said they were and it is just that they didn’t accept all plans and again that didn’t make sense to me. I also told her that I had specifically asked if they accepted my insurance before I made my appointment and now here I am finding out that they don’t. I was deliberately lied to by the staff even though I tried to get as much information as possible prior to my appointment. If indeed VisionWorks is a network provider for VSP but doesn’t accept all VSP plans, isn’t that something that should have been disclosed when I asked? How was I to know that some VSP plans would not be accepted? Needless to say, I regret going here for my eye exam and if you are reading this review, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. I wish I had. I can’t complain about the exam itself as Lana Tsesler was professional but after reading other reviews here, it appears misinformation and communication from staff is an issue at VisionWorks.

Seems like Visionworks needs better training and/or documentation. All employees were very nice individually, but gave inconsistent and contradictory answers to most questions. (My optometrist however, was always great... She was very nice and professional. Would give her 5 stars and the front of house 1, hence the 3 stars.) I got 4 different prices for how much my glasses were going to cost me with my insurance. I finally had one woman call my insurance while I was there and still got a different answer-cheaper than ALL the other quotes they initially gave me. Also, they said getting the glasses would take about a week and it took over three, and they never called back when they said they would. Not once. They kept saying "theyll be in tomorrow..." for over two weeks. Im fine waiting 3 weeks... just dont lie to me about it every day. Again, everyone was individually very nice, but Visionworks needs to step up their game with training/documentation so their employees can give clear answers.

Above and beyond! I bought glasses a little over a year ago, there was a issue with the lenses and they needed to be replaced. I was not happy with the replacement glasses and they worked with me until I had glasses that were comfortable and lenses that I was happy with. I worked with the entire team during this experience, everyone was helpful, a shout out to the store manager Janet. The staff have all been with Vision Works for years which is also important to me. If you need glasses, this is a great place to get them! Scott

Staff is not knowledgable at all. Although they say they accept almost every insurance, they have no idea how to bill according to the insurance. Dont waste your time going there.
