February 2015 stay: Another wonderful stay for my dog while we had another out of town trip. I added grooming to this trip and when I picked her up she looked amazing! Stay in September 2014: Ok so I was very stressed about the idea of leaving my 12 year old beagle furry child in the care of anyone else for a weekend that I just wasnt able to arrange any other care options for a long 3 day weekend. But Steve and his team of caring employees made this a very easy option for me and after 2 tours I was finally sold on giving boarding my baby a try. When I dropped her off the staff went through the detailed paperwork with me, and right off I was feeling very secure Id made the right decision. I called while I was away and checked on her and every time they were very accommodating with giving me a detailed report of how she was doing. When I picked her up she was in excellent spirits and showed no signs of being stressed out (in the past after I come home from being away a few days and she has stayed with friends, or Ive had people come to the house to take care of her, her eyes are usually blood shot and she quits eating the 2nd day) Her eyes were clear, she was full of energy and seemed very happy. I will be continuing my relationship with this business and I am very happy to have a place I feel so secure about taking care of my little furry angel when I cant.

I have a Morkie (maltese/yorkie) and I told the lady exactly how I wanted my dog cut. She did the EXACT opposite. By far the absolute worst place I have ever taken my dog to get a haircut. I even went back in there and told her that this isnt what I had asked her to do and her remark to that was "well this is how I do my puppy cuts" I then called the manager and he said he would handle it. Well him handling it was having her call me, which is fine. Yet, when she called she just repeated what she had already told me, that that was how she does her puppy cuts. She got my puppy all the tip of his snout all the way to the top of his head -completely shaved it- She also tipped his ears when I had never said I wanted that because his ears are not suppose to stick up. She also shaved a large circle around his bottom. When I say large, I mean large. The world could see everything he had. It was absolutely awful. By far the worst place I have ever gone to. So to everyone out there- dont get fooled by the nice building and decorations- The do an awful job. I will never go back nor recommend anyone to go there.

I googled grooming in lex. ky and found this place. they had really good reviews. 4.5/5 The appointment was at 9 am but the groomer didnt show up until 10:30 am. She said her grandmother had a stroke but she had time to pack her lunch and mixed drinks... whatever. She gave a free teeth cleaning but it only took her 2 seconds to clean them. yes, 2 seconds!!! she simply just added some toothpaste to the canine teeth. (regular price $10) She was being so rough with my dog. I could have done better job cutting his hair. I was so stressed over just watching her cutting my dogs hair...I just wanted to grab him and take him back to the house. She also decided to wash my dog in the middle of the haircut, so when she was done with the hair cut, instead of washing him again or giving him a blow dry to remove hair, she just let him go. I had to wash him again when I got home. I took my dog to Americas uptown hounds LUXURY resorts because I didnt care to pay little bit more money to pamper my dog however, it was a big mistake. Next time, I will just take my dog to pets mart. I

Uptown Hounds is hands down the best kennel (well, doggie hotel, really) in the Lexington area. I have been boarding my 3 year old beagle there since I got her back in early 2009. Ive visited and toured all of the other available kennels and doggie daycare places, and they simply do not compare. They pale in comparison to what Uptown can provide. Everything from the facilities, outdoor area, outside pool, indoor play areas, doggie daycare service, and hotel rooms are simply top notch (real rooms that are offset, and will wrought-iron fence for the doors - no chain-link fencing). If you care about giving your dog a stay that is stress-free and enjoyable - you will go to Uptown. No other kennel can give your dog even half of what Uptown provides. The staff at Uptown are excellent and truly love spending time with animals. Bottom-line: Uptown Hounds is THE place to go for boarding your dog. You will not be dissapointed. Youll find, like I do for my Molly, that your dog cant wait to get to Uptown for a day or days of fun.

Extremely disappointed and upset. My uncle had raved about the pool and how much fun his lab had there. As a first time dog owner I was very excited to take my new puppy whos 7 months and just received his final round of shots. We walked in, explained it was our first time and handed over all the paper work. The lady at the front desk was not friendly or helpful, she immediately started looking for a reason to turn us away. She said our pup needed the bordatella vac and he couldnt swim. We kept looking through the paper work and finally saw that he had received the vaccine from the shelter we adopted him from. She said it was one month expired and to come back after he had another vaccine. We left very unhappy and looked closer at the paper work, he had received the bordatella on 2/25, which wouldnt have expired until 8/25 so we still had a month until it expired. We didnt notice anything that felt "uptown" or even at the least friendly or polite about this place and will NOT be returning or referring anyone else.

I placed a online application submission for doggy daycare on Labor Day. Granted, they were not open. I waited the following business day to hear back for someone & never did... I then proceeded to call them "the next" following day to see as to why I was NEVER contacted back? I spoke with a lady (didnt care to get her name) and asked as to why I was never contacted back on daycare rates etc.. She then looked my name up & asked my dog name an breed. I told her pitbull and she then said "due to his breed we cant service your dog"! I then followed up & said "well what other dogs dont you service due to their breed"? she then interuptted me mid-sentence & said let me get you a number to a place that does accept pitbulls. (that wasnt my question) Wow, all due to a stereotype & DISCRIMINATION youre going to lose a clientele & business revenue? $$$ that seems really smart!!!! Im writing this horrible review because I KNOW Im not the only owner that faces discriminatory people/facilities such as Uptown Hounds

I was looking for a place to take my dog for playtime...I spent some time looking around to see if i felt comfortable. The vibe I got was that this place is more about making money. I am not saying that it is a bad place, just seemed the focus was not truly on the animals... One BIG red flag that i felt the need to share...The Groomer. I didnt get her name when she greeted a customer near to me, though I felt she was not the most friendly person to the women with the dog. I was browsing the little gift shop part of the place and happened to hear the same groomer telling the dog No, that wasnt what caught my attention. It was her tone and facial expression. Maybe she was having a bad day, we all have them. At the same time her patience with this little dog bothered me. She just looked too pissed off and I would not allow my dog to be groomed by a person in that state of mind... Dogs are hard to groom to begin with, add the energy she gave off, her sour face and harsh tone and you get trouble :(
