I’ve been taking my cats here for over 16 years. I’ve never had any problems before. Dr. O’Leary shed some tears with me when I had to put down my cat Pookie. She has also said that I have the nicest, sweetest cats. Over the years I’ve recommended them to people. Even when I lived an hour away, I still took my cats there. My cat Mercedes died in at the end of August. The vet sent me a sympathy plant. I don’t keep plants in my house and the plant arrived without a card saying what kind of plant it was. A few weeks later, my other cat Star threw up green stuff. Since we don’t have any other plants in the house, I immediately took the plant out to the garage. She started making strange noises with her mouth, like she was trying to get rid of a terrible taste in her mouth. She had never made that noise before so I went to the computer to find out what plant she had snacked on. Based on the pictures, the nearest I could guess was that it was a Peace Lily, which is apparently toxic to cats! I called up the vet to find out what kind of plant they sent me. I never would have thought that they would have sent a poisonous plant to someone who has another cat! The receptionist called me back and said “The florist sent a Peace Lily plant. Okay?” I replied “No that’s not okay. Lilies are toxic to cats and Star ate some of the plant. Can I please have the vet see her today?” She replied “Let me call Dr. O’Leary.” Dr. O’Leary called me back an hour later. She said that the florist usually use would never send a poisonous plant and she said that they outsourced this order. She sounded very curt and angry. She told me to bring Star in as soon as I could with the plant. I checked the plant over and found two leaves that had been chewed on. When I arrived the receptionist told me to bring in the plant. I gave her the plant and she took it in the back. Finally Dr. O’Leary told me to bring in Star. She was very curt and angry sounding with me. She said that she examined the plant and didn’t find any evidence that Star had chewed on it. I said I found two leaves that had been chewed on and could show her where they were. She wouldn’t let me show her where the leaves were. She then proceeded to grill me with questions, like I was a criminal. After the technician took Star away for treatment, she said to me “I never would have expected you to request that Star’s treatment be free.” I said “What are you talking about?” She replied “The receptionist said that you demanded that Star’s treatment be free.” I was shocked. I never said or expected such a thing. I told her that. Then she said me not to yell at her. I certainly didn’t yell at her; my voice might have risen a notch because of the shock. She then said “Well, I will have to check with the receptionist to get the story straight.” Again complete shock. She didn’t believe me?! I had been going there for well over 16 years! I left shocked that I had been treated so rudely. Dr. O’Leary didn’t apologize and didn’t believe me. Mistakes happen. If she had apologized and treated me like the loyal, longtime client I was, I would have still continued to go her. After the way I was treated, I will not ever go back there. I just adopted two young cats as companions for Star. So she just lost out on all that future business.

They are a total scam and they are not compassionate at all. I felt uncomfortable and obligated to keep making appointments and got ripped off because I was concerned about the care of my animals. I brought one of my rats in for an emergency visit on a Saturday that initially cost me 185.00 just for the walk in, oxygen, and a shot, which is understandable because it was last minute and I thought it was good they would see him on such short notice since he was breathing difficult and also had lice. The same visit I was charged another 86.00 on my way out for 2 of his meds and given a follow up appt (and also had to make an appt. for 3 of my other rats). I was given 2 diff meds for one week and ran out of one after 5 days, but they charged me for another bottle/weeks worth and asked if I had "spilled any", and charged 35.00 for a full bottle due to crushing and mixing it. Due to the fact that my rat had lice, I had to make an appointment for my other 3 boys for shots, and felt obligated in the best interest of my animals to do so right away. I ended up spending another 86.00 dollars on shots for the other 3. When I went in for a follow up for the sickest of my boys that had originally gone in, they told me it would be 35.00 for the visit on the phone, but ended up giving him a shot that ran the bill to 64.00 without my understanding. Theyre very quick to jump the gun and get you to spend. As it turns out, my sickest of rats did not need one of the two meds he was given. I brought them to another animal clinic that cleared up right away the problem, he had pneumonia and the vet who saw him at the clinic I switched him to right away could tell immediately. I took all 4 of my boys in to another clinic, got the sickest one an x-ray (Cat & Bird insisted I do one there but I did not want to give them anymore business), and it turns out like I said before, he was given an incorrect medicine. Not once did they tell me it could have been pneumonia, which is common in rats and treatable. Im very disappointed and feel foolish at all the money I spent there. I would recommend doing your research first and not giving these people your money. They are not accommodating and I did not feel comfortable there. In all, it was an experience I could have done without but am grateful I found a vet that got to the source of my rats health issues and was able to treat my sickest one properly, as well as sustain my other 3 healthy boys.

They had no idea what was wrong with my turtle. They said he was immacitated, dehydrated, had liver, kidney, and potentially heart disease, had a vitamin C deficiency and many broken bones. I told her it was an infection (I was right). The vet insisted that he only needed vitamins (which cost about $90) and a check up a week later (another $40). Right then and there I knew that was screwed up because if they knew they were right they would have wanted to put him down right there not milk me for $130. Then at the check up visit I finally got her to give him antibiotics for the obvious infection and a second round of antibiotics a week later (they also put $20 of "fluids" into him twice and forced me to pay even after they said it was only an antibiotics shot). Then after pouring $250+ into this turtle she told me to put him down for another $50 because he wasnt going to live. I knew she had no idea what she was talking about and she only wanted to put him down because I wouldnt agree to a $100 x ray on his stomach and I refused to pay for anything else because it started to look like a big scam. I went to them in february 2009 and its november and hes completley healthy. Do NOT use these people because they only want your money.
