While I understand my dentist was recuperating from being ill, And that I was her last customer of the day her first day back, I was not impressed with the fact that when she was finished ( 2 extractions were much more difficult than she expected~ due to infection , after Many repeated attempts to numb the difficult ones she had to move forward with the extractions anyway although they were NOT numb at all , and she expressed how long the roots were....um did that Not show on my x-rays??? Anyway the whole process took much longer than either of us had anticipated) I felt like I was basically given the "bums rush" out the door. She walked right out once she was done without a word and the promise of her assistant to completely go over the post extraction instructions never happened. The office was closing in minutes. Also I was Not given Any pain medication ( hell 24 hours worth would have allowed me to at least Sleep ) nor antibiotics. The next morning I realized she had extracted ALL of my upper teeth and yet per the limits of my insurance I had been told all but 2 would be extracted. I Truly Hope I shall Not be billed for the last 2 as I made it Clear at my first appointment that I was unable to make ANY kind of payments and needed to stick to the parameters of my insurance. That being said...the overall experience of the various Other employees I came in contact with was Very Pleasant. I must say I was quite disappointed with this particular visit. Trust me when I say having teeth pulled, and difficult teeth at that~ I am conservatively guessing one of them took a GOOD 15 minutes to get out as I was in the chair almost 2 hours and only 7 teeth were pulled in all most coming right out with ease~ that would not numb and of course having far more sutures than I had expected was NO picnic. I am not big on pain meds but enough for the first 24 hours at least? Ah well it is what it is~ Sigh~ and of course I "survived" and WILL return next year for the next step. Perhaps the dentist should have remained home another day or two?? Perhaps regardless of how close to closing time I might have been instructed properly?? ( I know how much one wishes to go home on time at end of day but if necessary for the best interests of the patient another 5 minutes wouldnt have been THAT impossible??)

It has been 6+ years since I had any work done on my teeth. I didnt have the insurance or the money to go to the dentist and quite frankly, the dentist has ALWAYS scared me. This past February, I decided to go to Aspen Dental in Kingsport after I started having some visible problems. Aspen Dental told me I needed 4 crowns, 1 root canal, and 10 cavities filled with the total cost being well over $6,000. I didnt have 6k+ to fix all that! Not to mention they made me feel ashamed and embarrassed that I let my teeth get that bad. After I moved to SC in October, I got dental insurance and immediately did some research and found a high rated dentist that accepted the insurance that I had. So I called and made an appointment. Today was that appointment. Prior to me going in, I suffered MULTIPLE panic attacks because I knew I was about to be told I needed a lot of work done. From the moment I walked through the doors of the dental office, my anxiety went away. I was greeted by the friendliest receptionist, the Dental tech and dental hygienist had me laughing the whole time, and the dentist herself was INCREDIBLE. The results: TWO cavities and 2 fillings that need to be replaced. THATS IT! Well and a mouth guard because I tend to grind my teeth. When I told my dentist about Aspen Dental, she frowned and said, "You wouldnt believe how many transfer patients we get from Aspen that have done the same thing to them that they did to you." Aspen Dental is money hungry. Plain and simple. I will be out of pocket just $200 for the mouth guard, cavities, and new fillings. I also plan to get my teeth whitened (insurance doesnt cover that). I go back in the morning to get all my work done (except for the whitening). Aspen Dental was going to drill into perfectly healthy teeth, give me multiple crowns I didnt need, and give me a totally unnecessary root canal. All which couldve very easily given me PERMANENT damage to my teeth. It makes me sick! For those who are Aspen Dental goers, I ask that you please look into a different option. For those who are considering going to Aspen Dental, I ask that you dont. Do you research, find a dentist that will work with you.

The so called Dr shaker is a rude b***h who needs to go back to what ever country shes from!!! She talks down to you and tells you not to talkask a question until she says what she wants to say! She doesnt address your pain and says "if you can afford it I will remove the abscessed tooth" and then just exits the room! No bed side manners or empathy!I wouldnt let her treat my dog! Dr Norman (& his assistant Darrell) on the other hand are wonderful! They both show empathy and compassion with a great bed side manners! They talk to you like a person and not like youre beneath them. After 4 1/2 months in agonizing pain he did provide a little medicine to treat the pain which is something it seems no kind of doctor is willing to do... Judging everyone as drug seekers. If you do go here I recommend you ask to see Dr Norman. And one final thing... The prices are alot higher than they advertise

A horrible experience. I was an old returning customer trying to have an old chipped tooth (teeth) filled again and was examined and advised many crowns would be needed. The dentist and finance staff refused accept payment and fill the two teeth demanding thousands of dollars to fix them with crowns. Long term planning included 13 crowns total. I requested fillings as a cosmetic quick fix understanding they may not hold long until I could get money for crowns; however, staff were unresponsive to my needs. I located another provider and explained the situation and will accept payment to fill the teeth for just a few hundred dollars. Needless to say, when I have the financial means to replace the teeth with crowns that I will not be returning to Aspen Dental.

Worst dental experience Ive ever had. I had to wait in the lobby for over an hour and a half for my initial exam after I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment that Id had scheduled almost a month in advance. X rays took multiple failed attempts with painful administration of oral cameras. Upon arriving to my cleaning appointment 2 weeks later, their receptionist informed me that my appointment had been cancelled due to an equipment malfunction. They neglected to call me about the cancellation, wasting multiple hours of my time (travel, scheduling, etc). The dentist that I saw during the initial visit displayed a complete lack of basic expertise necessary for their field. Find literally any other dental institution and you will receive better service.

I felt like I had been baited into a money trap. The people were nice and number of x-rays were numerous ($19). Then I was asked about a cancer screening ($75). Then the Dr. and Hygienist checked me out thoroughly. When they finished with me, I was sent to see the finance person to go over the charges for the procedures they wanted to do. $2000.00 and with the discount plan, it would be about $1100.00. All I went there for was the exam, x-rays & ($31) cleaning according to the fee schedule in the discount program. Total of $50. They didnt do the cleaning. Im out $120 for the discount program and still dont have my teeth cleaned. Maybe if you have regular dental insurance you may be ok. If you are over 70 with decent teeth go to your regular Dentist.
