My wife and I have a bratty little, incredibly intelligent ten year-old miniature pinscher, Eddie "Bananas" Bocelli, that we took to Dr. Widener for a few issues, mainly for a dental exam (his teeth and gums were judged to be in great condition); an occasional cough, which was diagnosed as a result of having a small, irritated trachea, common in small dogs. The prescribed treatment was to put him on a diet to decrease his weight by 2lbs (from his 10lbs.) and to replace his collar with a harness, both of which were successful, such that he no longer coughs. My wife and I are academicians in medically related areas. After going through many veterinarians reviews, I selected Dr. Widener for his much deeper academic and research background and experience that indicated to me that he is dedicated and passionate about caring for animals. Eddie has never liked other people, nor would he allow anyone else touch him. He refuses to take food from others, which is good. He hates all other creatures, including dogs. He is an elite rodent and weasel killer. It is my theory that he is basically feral, that my wife and I are his pack, which is one of the main reasons I chose Dr. Widener. My wife and I, after Eddies exam, couldnt stop talking about how truly amazed we were that he actually liked Dr. Widener, that it was magical. Throughout his appointment, Eddie had a big smile and was happy, that he wasnt in any hurry to leave. It appeared that Eddie could sense that Dr. Widener respected and cared about him. I wish we could stop by with Eddie, just so Eddie could pay a social visit to another human he likes! Eddie is such a little treasure to us, so intelligent, focused, energetic, and funny. Every moment with him gives us so much pleasure. We couldnt be more pleased with Dr. Widener and the Farmhouse. He spent a lot of time examining Eddie, far more than any other veterinarian; thus, we are giving him five extra stars--10 stars!

I have never left a review for anything, with the exception of this one. It has become difficult to tell whether a review is genuine or left by a computer, a foreigner getting paid a nickel or some schmuck that knows the owner of whatever business is under review. Having said that, until now I have really never met a true animal doctor that cares more about the animal than juicing the owner for dough (like an emergency vet that charges you triple because it is after hours...just saying). Of course I would pay it and yes I buy overpriced popcorn at the movies, but I am at least aware of being taken. Farmhouse provides the opportunity to get that popcorn without being taken. Anyway, my chihuahua was basically dying from a gross dehydrating intestinal issue and the good Doc did an exam, provided medical care advice, gave us digestive prescription pills (which he personally broke into quarters due to the small size of my dog) and a weeks worth of healthy digestive-aid food and charged me such a small amount that I wanted to give him a tip!...and I was in and out of there in under an hour! He even covered the extra .09 cents that I did not have on me, since I only carry benjamins (or I only had a single benjamin on me...or to my name...I love my dog). I have been to more than 10 vet clinics in more than 10 states, literally (thanks military!) and was previously married (thanks military!) to a vet tech...and I have never met a veterinarian that really cared like this man does. Wait, I am pretty sure that this is how every "care" giver should care for any animal. Anyway, a family member (my dog) was going to die and my broke ($) a** was going to watch powerlessly, but I went to Farmhouse and it was like my brother (Dr.) was caring for my little hairy baby. Thanks Doc. I owe ya!

Dr. Widener at Farm House Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful veterinarian who truly cares about the animal in need. When my little chick was scalped, presumably be an opossum, I was calling clinic after clinic that I had the information for ( Im a veterinary assistant and have been looking for work, but have access to neither a phone book nor internet - so the clinics I had to call were only the ones I had dealt with and had their information on hand ). NO ONE wanted to deal with her. What do you do for a chick who has been scalped?? Vets said that they didnt see chickens, or that there wasnt anything that could be done for a chicken, that she couldnt be stitched or medicated or treated in any way - and no one wanted ANYTHING to do with her once they found out that Im in a financial bind and cant afford the big bills theyd be throwing at me even if they did treat chickens. And then I was referred to Farm House Veterinary Hospital by a teacher of mine, and sure enough, he treated her. Dr. Widener put her under anesthesia, pulled out necrotic tissue ( after NO ONE would see her for over THREE DAYS!! ), stitched her, and did everything he could, even when there was no guarantee for her survival after being left without treatment for so long. His clinic is quaint, comfortable, and very well maintained. However, I do fear that if I did not share an interest in the veterinary sciences, communication could have been quite strained. Social interactions with this man may be awkward, but by God, he treats animals to the best of his ability. My teacher said when recommending Dr. Widener, "Hes the vet who will see the animal no one else wants to see" - and she was right. I highly recommend Dr. Widener at Farm House Veterinary Hospital to ANYONE who is looking for a good veterinarian!

Best Vet in the South Sound. This Dr. Saved my dogs life! After being missed diagnosed by other Vets and dyeing during a routine surgery as a pup and being brought back to life, I was very concerned that my dog could not survive being operated on. He had several lumps all over his body. It came to the point where something had to be done for Otis (my dog) . As a pet owner I did not want to pay for a lot of unnecessary test that other vets seemed to have no problem charging me for. I couldnt help but think why pay a Vet thousands to kill my dog? Seriously , I love my dog ! It became clear to me after several Vets in the area acted like I was some sort of basterd for not wanting to spend every dime I could muster for them to miss diagnose and eventually kill my Dog ! Thank God I found Farmhouse Veterinary !!!! If you want your pet to have the best Vet care available go to Farmhouse Vet . It could absolutely save your pets life ! By the way , Otis had six sits removed, was in surgery for 2 1/2 hours ! Came through it like a champ ! Thanks to a Vet that knows how to properly sedate a dog and stays connected. Also NO CONE ! What ? Yup no cone he didnt even try and bite at the stitches!!!! Because of the Dr.s skill. Amazed, Blessed, and so happy my dog is better than ever. Thank you to The Team at Farmhouse Vet! And thank you Oreo for speaking to me with your eyes and letting me know Dr. Mike is the real deal . My familys Hero also Oreo ! ( Oreo is the resident dog in the lobby of Farmhouse vet) Best Vet ever !
