Our family has a relationship with Dr Mike like no other health care professional. He respects our individual decisions and financial limitations. We have never felt pressured to choose any particular frequency of treatments; he educates and offers assistance in achieving your health-related goals, how often you can come is up to you...you are treated like an intelligent adult. We were referred to Dr Mike by my midwife during my first pregnancy; I was experiencing pregnancy-related sciatic pain which was kept at bay after receiving regular care. After our son was born, we noticed (particularly because of education by Dr Mike on the effects of birth on a newborns spine/how that can relate to breastfeeding) that he preferred to only turn his head one way, and, consequently like to nurse more on one side than the other. He received his first adjustment when only 24 hrs old and was soon moving his head freely/nursing comfortably on either side. Now that he is in the fearless phase of toddlerhood; we take him in as needed to make sure his latest stunts havent unscrewed his head! He is rarely sick, has only had 2 "near" ear infections and never had colic. I have received regular care from Dr Mike since before we found out I was pregnant with #2; this time, ZERO sciatic pain! Dr Mike takes a genuine interest in his patients and their individual needs. The office staff adds to the warm, family-friendly atmosphere and goes out of their way to make you comfortable. You are treated like an intelligent person and armed with information but allowed to make all decisions regarding your course of care; they truly teach responsible consumerism instead of using scare tactics.

So, I have been a skeptic my whole life. My views about chiropratic were extremely negative and I was convinced the whole industry was one giant fraud and money making scheme contrived by a bunch of quacks who had managed to dupe millions of people. Dr. Doug at Renaissance, converted me. Now, it took him two years, because I only went to quiet my husband and be a dutiful wife. I had several issues with my neck and lower back but I was never quite sure it was the chiropractic that I was improving from or that the issues just resolved themselves. This past month in fact was when I truly became a believer and threw away the last vestiges of doubt. I went in with severe hip pain that radiated down the side of my leg to my ankle, the pain was so intense it caused my knee to feel like it was giving out on me and I had to do the straight leg hobble. No stairs, no lengthy walking and constant intense pain. After one visit, I had relief, by the second visit the pain and immobility was reduced by more then 70%, by the third visit barely noticeable pain and my knee felt normal and I was back to normal daily activites. The staff here is amazing as well, always friendly, supportive and go the extra mile to get you in when you call with an emergency needing to be seen! If your on the fence, if your in doubt, give them a try.....it will change your whole perspective when your spine is aligned and pain free!!

I decided to seek Chiropractic care after experiencing a set-back with sciatica type pain. The tingling and flare-ups that I was experiencing down my left leg started to impact the activities I enjoy doing like aerobics, playing outdoors with my kids, and doing yard work. I work as a Registered Nurse and do a lot of IV starts and PICC lines and at the end of the day there were times when I felt like I couldnt "give my all" because of the periodic and sometimes overwhelming sciatica and back pain. After a thorough evaluation by Dr. Mike Long, he gave me complete assurance that he could help me. He was right on! After the first 2 weeks of adjustments I could not believe how the pain was starting to subside. It wasnt totally gone but things like this take time, consistency and patience. I had been dealing with this pain for over 8 months and my back was starting to feel much more relaxed allowing me to do more. Today, 3 and 1/2 months later, my back feels great with little to no pain at all and I am doing just about everything I used to do with ease and confidence. A testament to the care I have received by Dr. Mike and his associates at Renaissance. I highly recommend you consider seeing these chiropractors first!

I first came here several years ago on recommendation from a family member to help in my recovery from a ski accident that injured my pelvis and low back. Tacoma is out of the way for my usual life, but it has always been worth the trek to see Dr. Doug (or any of the other doctors when the need arises), and Kevin, one of the massage therapists. Their exams are comprehensive and include a detailed review of the results and overview of the treatment plan. Their team is incredibly friendly, very patient with scheduling, and I can almost always get a same or next day appointment when I need it. Over the years, I have had tremendous relief from various back/neck/shoulder injuries and strains. A few months ago when I mentioned that I had frequent vertigo, headaches, and nausea, Dr. Doug was quick to see what he could do to help and explained how certain parts of the spine and cranial plates can play a role in that - my symptoms were relieved more than I ever expected! I would recommend Renaissance Chiropractic to anyone.

I had my first adjustment with Dr. Mike during my first pregnancy almost 5 years ago, after being referred to him by a friend and also by my doula/childbirth educator. Id been experiencing unbelievable sciatic nerve pain and general pain with a tailbone injury Id been living with for years. I had been treated by a chiropractor in another state for years and never felt relief from the tailbone injury and went on with my life thinking Id just have to deal with that pain forever. After one adjustment with Dr. Mike, there was relief! My family has been seeing him regularly for adjustments ever since. He is truly knowledgable and skilled in his profession, and never ceases to amaze me how he can pinpoint exactly what is out to cause whatever aches and pains Im feeling and attend to it right away. He goes above and beyond to show personal interest and care. Im so grateful for the team here!

The staff is friendly. But I had received a statement for 46$ called to see what that was about given that we havent been there in almost a month. Its from a time we hadnt paid. But have been there days after that. Why didnt the front desk let us know of this balance and just have pay the full amount instead of having to send us a statement telling us we are 60 days over due. They said they had sent out on in June. And august our last visit was July 12. Why not let us know then? Its very inconvenient and lets things get more complicated. People there in the billing department need to start communicating more. She says to just send in payments well not many people are comfortable sending their information let alone money when they could have handled this situation first hand when we were physically in the office. They need to get that together.
