My experience with Family Dental Group in Fishkill has been the worst experience I have ever had within the healthcare industry. After almost three months and several appointments, I am still untreated for the initial tooth pain that brought me there. Ive also lost out of hundreds of dollars at my own job because of missed overtime and time off Ive had to use to take care of the mess they created. To make matters even worse, they have the most unprofessional Dentist I have ever come across (Dr. Singh) I cannot, in my right mind, recommend that anyone goes to this dentistry in its current state. My experience started with a mistake on my end. I showed up to an emergency appointment because of severe tooth pain--without my insurance card. After talking to the lady at the front desk, she told me that she had found my dental health information and I wouldnt have to worry about it. What I didnt know is that they had found my crappy secondary dental insurance and not my primary. After X-rays and a cleaning, they told me they would send out a request to pre-certify for a filling and cap to my insurance and get back to me. The young lady who cleaned my teeth was lovely. The dentist who saw me never introduced himself and never talked to me directly--spending the entire examination talking with one of the nurses about what was for lunch (this ended up being Dr. Signh). A month later, I still have not received a call. I have, however, been notified that I have bill around $200 for the cleaning and X-rays. Confused, I call their number. They figure out that they only have my secondary insurance. They tell me to send pictures of the primary insurance to the dentistrys email. I do so...and wait. After another month with nothing, I go in to pay the amount that would be left after my primary insurance submitted...only to find out that they dont have it and still have an outstanding balance for me around $200. After giving them the insurance card, I set up an appointment for the actual filling. That was today. I arrive and get called back to the room quickly. The nurse says they will start will a full mouth exam. I have to tell her that they already did that last time, so she gets the Dentist. Dr. Singh again. He asks what we are doing today. I tell him I just need a filling. He says he would prefer to do the crown and insists even after I tell him I would prefer not to and probably dont want to shell out the money. He goes to check on my insurance. 15 minutes later, he comes back, tells me I have weird insurance, and that we will have to reschedule after they get pre-clearance on my insurance. He then walks out of the room without even acknowledging me. He never even apologized--instead leaving that for the poor women up front who have to deal with him all day. I left with the promise of being called Tuesday. The idea that a large dental group has patients slip through the cracks is expected. But Ive slipped through that crack several times now--never called and never dealt with. As I sit here today, I am still untreated...and now Im unsure of if I can use my insurance at a different place because Ive already had my x-rays done once this year--even though they have done nothing with them as of yet. But I guess I cannot expect much out of a group that would employ someone like Dr. Singh. I understand that some doctors dont have bedside manner down...but Dr. Singh simply doesnt care. Avoid the mess and find yourself a group that isnt this one.

UPDATE: I saw Dr. Chung today, I think it was the most painless dentist session I have ever had in my life. I did not feel a thing. He is very patient, gentle and doesnt rush through. Complete opposite of the other dentist. He also checked the bottom fillings and let me know that it may be years until i can chew comfortably and that it is normal. This is questionable to me and i will further investigate but I am happy with Dr. Chung! I have been going to Family Dental for about a few months now. I have had fillings, root canal and a cleaning done so far. One dentist and a hygienist have performed these procedures. I am currently in the process of changing my dentist. I will start with the good stuff; I have had a large but successful root canal and it is healing fine. I just had a cleaning done yesterday and the hygienist Ellen was very gentle, professional and easy going. For me, communication is vital anytime a procedure is being done on my body and I feel like Ellen herself would be enough reason for me to try to find a good dentist in this facility. That takes us to the next section. Now off to the bad stuff; I have had 4 fillings done; 2 of them being large ones. I have been told that it takes months for the large ones to heal but I feel like the problem is bite adjustment. Every time I chew, I am in pain and it isnt just the large ones that hurt, it feels like all 4 of them dont feel right. I have had large fillings done in the past and this never occurred to me. This is the same dentist who performed the successful root canal on me. I will not be giving her name but I felt that she could be more gentle and not so rushing. She seemed overbooked and irritable. I have asked for a more gentle dentist and thankfully the office is very responsive and sensitive about this topic so I have an appointment coming up with a different dentist. I will update my review accordingly. I also want to talk about the front desk ladies. They are always so friendly, although very busy, they seem to find time to smile and greet everyone.

I am livid. I paid out of pocket to Family Dental for emergency dental work that I could not wait for my insurance company to approve. My insurance company informed me that I need to have the Dental Office request to have the reimbursement check made out to the patient rather then the dental office. I made that request. Family Dentist failed to do so. My insurance company sent a check to the Dental office on 7/30/16. The check was cashed on 8/11/16. I sent an email. I have never received a response. I have called Family Dental many times. I was told during my first conversation that I should receive a check within a week. During my second conversation I asked to speak with the accounting. I was told that the accountant is only in the Fishkill office on Mondays. I called on Monday and was told that the accountant already left for the day. That she is only in the Fishkiill office in the early morning. I asked to be connected to the accountant dept. I was told that there really isnt an accounting dept. That the accountant travels to all of their locations. Today I called and I was told that there is No Accountant. That the person that handles all of the accounting needs is the Office Manager. I was told that she is on vacation and to call back next week. I asked to speak with whom ever is handling the accounting needs while the office manager is away. I am told that there is No One handling accounting at this time. I have never heard of such Bull. A Dental Office, with multiple locations DOES NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNTING DEPT. Are you Kidding Me!!!
