I cant give an actual review for Dr. Kessler because I couldnt get in to see him. This is a review about my experience with his office staff. I had called Fri. around 9AM because I was concerned about a sore on my face that Ive had for about 2 months. I dont have a regular dermatologist, so I had asked around for recommendations. My husbands friend recommended Dr. Kessler. When I called, I explained my situation and after going through the usual "Are you a patient?" and "What insurance do you have?", I then went through a barrage of questions like "How long have I had it?" "Have you applied anything to it?" "What does it look like?", etc. I was then asked "When do you want to come in?" I asked what time they were open until and she said 3. I said if it was possible, Id appreciate something that afternoon, or Mon. AM. She then told me that shed have to speak with the office manager to see what they could do for me and that the office manager would call me back. I had another appt. that day and when I returned home around 11:30, they still had not called back. I called to inquire again and had to explain why I was calling, only to be told that the office manager didnt come in until 1 PM. Around 1:45, I STILL hadnt received a call back, so I called again. After being asked who I spoke with that morning, I was put through to the office manager (never got her name). She asked who referred me and then said that "unfortunately" Dr. Kessler was booked and they couldnt get me an appt. until July, which is 2 months away! I told her that was ridiculous, that all you hear is that if you see something unusual, get it checked immediately by a dermatologist. She then "expressed regret" and said that hes in a solo practice, maybe I should see someone in a group, etc. Why make me wait all day for a call that you had no intention of returning? I wonder how many people dont receive the treatment they need because of inept office staff? Im sure that most of the time, these doctors dont even realize that patients are being turned away.

Let me just start off by saying I never write reviews and this is my first one..... I called to make an appointment because Im trying to find a dermatologist that can help me! The First Lady who answered (dont remember her name) was extremely rude from the start, and had a bad attitude for no reason! But I continued to talk nice back, and then she put me on hold and another lady came on named Linda ( also rude with an attitude) she asked me what insurance I had and I told her, she asked me if it was a certain one and I said "no its the regular one, the one with no copay" and she then said under her breath "ok whatever" in the most nastiest rude way. Mind you both these ladies had an attitude on the phone the whole time for no reason! I didnt even give them one back! ....She was on speaker and my mom was right next to me and couldnt believe that she actually said that. And took the phone from me and said we will not be making an appointment at this office and this Dr. just lost my business..... I just dont understand why people find the need to be rude and have an attitude to patients who are just trying to get help! It blows my mind that doctors have people like this working for them and representing their medical office. Smh I will make sure I tell everyone I know in massapequa to not come to this dermatologist the front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional! Its actually disgusting the way they talked to me on the phone.

Dr Kessler is a great dermatologist. The staff is great, and the wait time when you have an appointment is usually short.
