While my first time at this optic was a great, taking an eye exam and buying one year supply of contact lenses, the problem came when I had to renew my contact lenses. Since it had been 13 months since my last eye exam they told me I had to retake the eye exam and that I would need to wait 3 weeks for an appointment. I told them I was short of contact lenses and that I could take any day off from work to accommodate any time during the next 10 days (trying to give them as more options as possible). They were not accommodating at all, telling me to wait or find another doctor. Well, I called another optic that same day and without being a client they understood my situation and found me an appointment that same day, making time between patients to get my order ready. While I liked the service the first time I went to this optic, their lack of flexibility and service toward existing clients makes me give them one star since a good optic is the one that take cares of their patients. For people looking for an optic, I am not saying you should not go, just know that they wont help you in any emergency, so get a backup plan or find an optic that you dont need a backup plan altogether :).

I have been seeing Dr. Zaum for the last several years after recommendations from several coworkers. As someone who has worn glasses since a child, Im used to seeing an optometrist annually, and Dr. Zaum is by far, the best optometrist I have ever had. I have previously seen optometrists at Kaiser and PAMF. Dr. Zaum is very professional, yet friendly, and you can tell she cares about her patients. The exam is the most thorough one from any eye doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Zaum explains each test, and does a great job explaining afterwards important warning signs so you know if you need to be seen right away. They do have a nice selection of frames, however Dr. Zaum and her staff are not pushy about buying glasses there, and if you wish, she will give you a prescription that you can take elsewhere, including Costco which is in the same complex. I highly recommend Pacific Eye Care Optometry to everyone, and Im glad I switched after hearing the recommendations from my coworkers.

Worse optometrist experience Ive ever had. Dr. Allison Zaum is very pushy and purely sales oriented. She is dead bent on prescribing only the brands that she sells. They also insist and try to push you to buy all the special coatings and options they offer. Expect to say “no” several times as you are confronted with a plethora of heavy handed and confrontational sales techniques. After my eye exam, I felt like I just left a sleazy pushy used car dealership. Dr. Zaum can also be very condescending. I knew something was wrong when I saw no other customers at the store the entire time. The lady at the front desk is nice, but not very competent. As hard as they try, nothing justifies the crazy prices Pacific Eye care charges compared to the quality of service and product they deliver. I thought I was going to get something more for the extra money I spent, compared to the vision center at the Costco next door, but I was definitely wrong.

This was my very first visit to Pacific Eye Care. When I entered through the front door, I felt a pleasant atmosphere. The place was clean, I was greeted immediately and given the proper forms to fill out, and given enough time to complete the form before being greeted by Dr. Zaum. She was very pleasant, she listened to everything I said, she did not interrupt me while I was speaking, and she answered every question I asked in very professional manner. She even checked to make sure I had selected the correct style frames so I wouldnt look like a dork. I dont know of any O.D. who would take the time to do that. There was no pressure, no rushing to get through the exams, and she explained every procedure and test before and while they were being performed. I will definitely be returning and I will definitely recommend her to my friends and associates. Keep up the good work, Dr. Zaum!

I have been a Kaiser patient for years using the Kaiser vision program, but my contacts just never seemed right for one reason or another. I met Dr. Zaum and decided to try her services...her examination was thorough and led to a whole different prescription for by contacts than what I had been given at Kaiser. Dr. Zaum had no problem with me ordering my contacts through Kaiser using her prescription, since my plan at Kaiser would save me money. The most important thing, though, is that my new prescription did away with the problems I had been experiencing with dryness and trouble reading at my computer. Now I have my husband going to her as well, and he is very pleased with the new contacts she prescribed for him as well...also better vision and more comfort. I highly recommend Dr. Zaum if you want someone that cares about you and your vision and will do the absolute best for you.

Excellent service, with care! We came to Pacific Eye Care Optometry with Awtar, who has been serving the family for more years than I care to admit. Obviously we appreciate his service ... but it has been great to get to know Dr. Zaum over the past few years. It is clear that she sees her patients as people she wants to help in more ways than fitting for glasses and contacts. They have an e-mail newsletter which includes a lot of health related information which is useful for more than just maintaining your vision.

Ive been going to Dr. Zaum for 2 years and I find her very friendly and not at all pushy. In fact, because my contact lenses (Acuvue Daily) are expensive, she encouraged me to buy them at Costco instead of through her office. Im not surprised that the reviewer below didnt see other patients in the office - with only 1 doctor it makes sense that patients would only show up for their appointment, and Ive never had to wait once I arrived.

Strong anti-recommendation. Very pleasant experience on the first time visit, then it is really difficult to get an appointment afterwards. I was stood up twice after the first time. Another comment in Google map also had a similar experience, I guess their strategy is to get you buy as many glasses as possible at the first time, and when it comes to the contact matching, which is less efficient in making money, they couldnt care less.

Went to get an eye exam and a new glasses. Dr Zaum was very nice and helpful. The guy who helped me trying the glasses was also very patient. It only took 2 days for my new glasses be ready to pick up. With VSP insurance, I only need to pay about $40 for a bill of about $800. Con: the appointment queue is a bit long. I had to wait for 1.5 weeks. You can ask them to let you know when a timeslot opens up though.

Allison is a very professional, knowledgeable optimetrist. She spends time with you during an exam explaining what shes doing and why, is very reassuring if you have concerns, and even goes so far as to help you pick out glasses that best complement your face. She really seems to care about her patients. All in all, shes what a good health professional should be. I highly recommend her.
