Ive been waiting until Ive seen a different dentist before I left a negative review for this place, but I left the other office absolutely stunned at just how horrible an experience I had with College Park Dental. I met with Dr. Cherot and here were my major gripes: 1) She was very rushed. I think this played into my other gripes, the heavy-handedness and the not answering questions of mine. I felt like part of a production line and not a patient. 2) She was condescending. As my mouth was bleeding during cleaning, she told me "THIS is why you floss". True, I need to start flossing, but I didnt bleed at all during my second cleaning 5mo later, so Im not really sure I was fully at fault for the bleeding. >.> 3) She wouldnt answer general questions I had (I hadnt been to a dentist in a while and had a few). She was so rushed it seemed like she couldnt be bothered to explain to me about anything that was going on and getting answers was like...*ahem* "pulling teeth". Also, my new dentist gave me a different (and more believable) answer to a question than she did. That makes believe Dr. Cherot told me something off-hand just to shut me up. 4) She was very heavy-handed and did not care about the pain I was experiencing. I honestly believe that was the most painful experience Ive ever had at a health care professionals. It was only a cleaning, but I bled profusely. Between every tooth I could feel her anchor into my gums and just drag up until the tool found its way in between my teeth. Never once did she ask me if I was experiencing discomfort, even though I had a mouthful of blood. I thought maybe this was my fault, that all cleanings felt like this, but my cleaning today (by a different dentist) was nearly pain-free, only hurt a little at 3 points, and she consistently let me know to tell her if I felt any pain (she also did a thorough job, admitting to be obsessive about going over teeth more than once). God, I bled so bad there I spit out a clot of blood in their sink and left with a little blood on my face. I think this had to do with her being rushed and just wanting to get it over with (and not taking care to prevent me experiences pain). 5) She told me I had two cavities (that magically disappeared 5mo at another dentists office) and their office only does the expensive tooth-colored fillings which most insurances wont cover so you have to pay the difference and dont have a choice. What I mean by that is I had my new dentist check for these two cavities so I could get a filling there, but they didnt see any where this office did, saying that it was clear from the xrays I didnt have any. This was my awful experience. Maybe Dr. Cherot was having a terrible day. Maybe the other dentists are awesome. However, I was very unhappy with my experience and will NEVER be returning to College Park Dental.

This is long-winded but worth the read: I have been a patient since 2011 and initially I was seen by a dentist practice that I didnt particularly care for. OK-Lets say I left a practice in Forestville that was ULTRA ghetto and hood- where the dentist stopped working on my mouth one time to leave me and consult with another patient- what in the world...???? WHO DOES THAT? He wasnt truthful about HOW MUCH Dental Work in was in for. I was livid to say the least. So, I quickly searched for another dentist- I left there, found College Park dental and arrived to work with a dentist that was snooty. She didnt have the greatest customer service and empathy that I was looking for, but she was honest about all of the dental work that I needed. Prior to coming there in 2011, I didnt have dental insurance so naturally I needed lots of work. Needless to say I continued going until I progressed in my treatment plan and one day this particular dentist no longer worked there. (so happy was I !!!!!! ) I begin to see Dr. Brager (hes the oldest dentist there I believe and he is part owner I think?) Any ways I enjoyed his no-nonsense honesty and humor- kinda sarcastic but oh well. I mentioned this because there are several dentists to choose from and they have specialists there. I had a root canal done there by the endodondist and he did a good job- no issues almost 4 years later. So check them out and always ask for a specialist depending on your dental needs and situation. They can handle that. Oh and last but not least- they work with your budget. They allowed me to pay later and I honored my payment plan so dont take advantage if they work with you. Be resspectful and upfront. They have a flexible hours in the morning- I had to go around 6:30am before work one morning and some doctors arent as flexible but the best dentist that I have so far is Dr. Tiwari and she has the BEST attitude- she is patient, gentle, honest, caring and kind. No nastiness or rudeness that I have experienced like you just another number or patient. I would give rating this a 5 star - but nothing is perfect and there is a crass-kinda-rude lady in billing when you check out and pay your copay but she doesnt matter as long as my teeth look good. :)

My dentist probed my gums to establish sensitive areas. Then, she apparently *deliberately* shot icy cold water exactly in those spots till I screamed. The rest of my teeth were not cleaned; I still had tartar accumulation in non-sensitive areas. This all, apparently, was so the dentist could push a mouth guard... because she claimed my gum sensitivity was caused by teeth grinding (its not). I was literally tortured so a non-solution, that just happens to be high profit margin, could be pushed on me. When I said I have a mouth guard, and asked about other options for gum health, this dentist acted like I didnt speak. I was completely ignored. Then, she then recommended that I get two healthy incisors extracted due to non-problematic hairline fractures... that Ive had for over 20 years. When I asked about dark, soft spots on my molar surfaces, you know, potential decay, she got extremely defensive and screeched, "Do your molars hurt??? No??? Then theres no need to drill!" But yet the high dollar incisor replacement... Total scam artists. Stay away if you want actual dental care. Or go here if you want to develop a dentist phobia. Ive been too scared to seek dental care since.

My dental hygienist Imani and dentist Dr. Bemani were both knowledgeable and quick in their duties. Dr. Bemani asked me lots of questions as I was a new patient. The space wasnt as modern as Im used to, but it didnt take away from the level of care Im used to. The wait to check out after the appointment was a bit lengthy. Also the parking lot was hectic because there was construction. They had up to date magazines in the lobby. I am editing my review as of 1/26/15 from the previous one in November due to a lack of organization on the part of the administrative team. As a new patient the office did not request any pervious records or ask if I had any. During the appointment they did two sets of x-ray exams. Unbeknownst to me one x-ray exam I had previously, so when they tried to bill for it, the insurance sent it back. I had to pay $67 for a x-ray I already have in my dental records. I told the billing specialist they need to tell new patients to give them their former dental records. She said they do tell patients that. I let her know no one told me. She apologized, but I dont care but I still am out of $67.
