The vet here is very nice and seems reasonable, compared to many of the other places Ive been. Having said that, my complaint is with the staff. Some time ago, due to a layoff and serious illness, I was about to lose my home. So, I made the difficult decision to part with a dog (I had three at the time). I surrendered her to a local no-kill shelter with the understanding that the shelter would contact the local breed rescue. I miss her every day, but, given that I thought Id soon be living out of my car with my son and two other rescue dogs, I opted to surrender the one I thought most adoptable. Some time later, my situation turned around dramatically. I landed an awesome job and I was able to save my house. I began contacting breeders, as I was interested in getting a puppy to train as a therapy dog (as a way to give back, as many people either tried to help me or helped me during that awful time of my life). I put down Clear Creek Vet as a reference, thinking theyd confirm that, indeed, I had taken good care of the dogs I had and had kept up with their care. Instead, the breeder Id contacted lets me know that she spoke to a staff member at Clear Creek Vet, Linda, who told her Id given a dog to a rescue without trying to return it to the breeder (not true at all--I tried to place the dog with numerous people at a dog-training club, as well) and that shed have "serious reservations" about selling ANY dog to me. All of this without contacting me or even considering that maybe, just maybe, my circumstances had changed. (I mean, why on earth else would I now be considering getting a dog if Id not been able to afford that one?) Surrendering a dog to a no-kill shelter, when youre losing your home, are a single parent, and have other dogs whom youre trying to save is NOT a crime, and for her to make this assertion without ever talking to me was just wrong. I later contacted the vet to ask why this Linda person had done that but spoke with another staff member who said she would have Linda call me to discuss. Of course, Linda never did call me. Needless to say, I will never use this vet again. Ive rescued many dogs, and I think it is way more irresponsible to keep a dog that you absolutely have no way of caring for than to place it in a no-kill shelter. That is not reason to say someone should never be able to own a dog again. And its too bad for them, because I have three dogs again and would have been a regular customer in a town in which Im sure they struggle to maintain regular customers (Idaho Springs is a somewhat economically depressed city). No thanks. Ill drive the 45 minutes to the next nearest town with a vet who has staff who arent so unprofessional and willing to try and prevent me from ever getting another dog.

Dont go to this place they let animals suffer if you dont have money to put your animal down when they are so sick they cant get up! They suck as humans alls they are worried about is the money and not the animal! Whom ever the vet is sucks as a human!
