Well I must first say that myself & my best friend (Goldy) are from Oregon and new to Texas, I am taking an 8 day trip this month to play in the Ladies International Poker Series Poker Queen Grand Championship Bracelet Event during the WSOP in Las Vegas & am having to leave Goldy for the first time in almost 5 years! For 2 weeks I have dreaded & even cried numerous times as I have no one here to care for & watch her & have heard horror stories about boarding animals from friends & people for years, that said I called the Animal Hospital and made an appointment to get Goldy current with all vaccines & boarding requirements per Texas Law, despite the reviews I read that were needless to say less than inspiring......Goldy has not been socialized much with others & has always seemed a bit intimidated/territorial when it comes to females coming around so I am ALWAYS over cautious & probably part of her issue in this sense..... but when we arrived for her appointment to see nothing but ladies I was more than proud of how she reacted & responded to Jan the first gal....Goldy immediately gave kisses with tail wagging!*(thought to myself YES! hurdle #1 tackled) then when the Tech called us to go back & there were multiple other dogs in the lobby that I was concerned about Goldy gracefully getting past to get to the room BECKY happily came & took Goldy for me & with not a single flinch from anyone we were in the exam room where Goldy proceeded to smother Becky with kisses & I thought to myself YES!(hurdle #2 CONQUERED) then Becky said that the Vet seeing Goldy was pregnant & I immediately said oooooooh as Goldy is 75lbs of Rhodesian Ridgeback & pit that feels everyone should be as happy to see her as she is to see them as she stands on hind legs & expects to be embraced by the individual all the while not realizing she bowls 3/4 of the people over just with her pure excitement! I must say I am SO PROUD of my Goldy girl as the moment Dr. Corruthers entered Goldy was the best behaved girl anyone could have expected most importantly myself, not once did she stand up or expect hugs & proceeded to get her exam with out any issues what so ever & most importantly my fear of her accidentally spazzing out or over bearing the pregnant Vet was just that MY OWN FEARS & for the first time I let go of that fear and believed in myself & knowing I raised her with nothing but love & lots of it despite her not being socialized and saw her having the best manners ever & that made me very proud! I want to THANK Jan for her kindness & affection but more than anything I NEED TO SAY THAT Becky & Dr. Corruthers ARE TRULY THE BEST!!!!! & have not only myself but also Goldy as proud NEW patient/owner & I WILL SEE NOBODY BUT THEM if possible for as long as I am in need of veterinarian services & I truly believe that Goldy will be cared for & loved as if she was their own during her 8 day stay with them!!! Thank You from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do ladies & know I appreciate & will respect you always!!! xoxoxoxox....... Michelle

We have only seen Casey Carothers at AHL for our pets. Obviously, we love her. Shes down to earth, not an alarmist, and has no problem calling in generic prescriptions to local pharmacies to save us money. She only recommends procedures if really needed and will tell you one way or the other. Too many vets tell you its a must that your pet have a bundle of "whatever"...instead of asking about your pets environment, routine, exposures, etc. Questions with answers that tell your vet what your pet would most benefit from. We have taken our pets to cheaper clinics to save money, but have come back to AHL...twice. Care for your children and your pets means just that...care. Knowing that those in charge of your child or your pets health care really do care is priceless. What we did was applied for and received a CareCredit card that we use only for our pets needs. We will always be able to get what they need, even if we dont have the cash right then. So no more hit and miss searching for lower cost vet care. Our vet, Casey Carothers at AHL, is set for life, and that feels good. Although we have never had an issue with AHL staff, if it happened we would not leave our pets vet. For us, she is the most important person when it comes to their health care. Thanks so much, Casey!!

I have been going to the Animal Hospital of Lubbock for 30 years. Im an animal lover, so Ive made many trips to this clinic. During this time, Ive had the awesome experience of owning Yorkies, a Newfoundland, Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler), Australian Shepherd, Louisiana Catahoula Leopard, Pomeranian, and the Exotic Short Hair Persian. During my most recent visit to the AHL, I brought my 16 year old Yorkie in due to near drowning/hypothermia. Dr. Amy Gonzales was so professional, knowledgeable, and comforting with her explanation of what could result due to exposure to conditions of this nature. Dr. Gonzales very readily kept Mollie in the oxygen cage in an attempt to save her life and help Mollie continue to live. In the end, the cold water and near drowning was just too much for my sweet baby, Mollie. Dr. Gonzales was very compassionate, comforting and honest with me, and helped my husband and I make the right decision for her. I cannot express how much I appreciate this clinic. I love each and every doctor there, some even from the past: Jones, Linn, Hankinson, Long, and now Dr. Gonzales. Thank you so much, I love my babies so much and will always continue to keep them healthy at AHL. Respectfully, Kelli Taylor Stanford

Absolutely these people take advantage of people and charge them out the a$$ for everything. Have taken my dogs and cat here several times because we were new to Lubbock and this place had the most stars. But the last time they gave my smallest dog his booster shots he got HORRIBLY sick and I thought he was about to die so I ran him to doggy E.R. and come to find out theyd given him Bordella and something else that an inside dog who is never boarded or around any other dogs absolutely didnt need according to the e.r. vet and the cocktail of everything was too much for him so he counteracted it with something else. Well like idiots we gave AHoL another chance and took him in for a teeth cleaning today and without consent they pulled 7 teeth and wound up charging nearly $500 for it all when I have asked every time Ive taken him in for anything how his teeth are doing and am always assured theyre ok(here and our old vet) when CLEARLY that wasnt the case. Overall I am just DONE with this place, I dont trust them at all and their prices are ridiculous. Will never set another foot nor paw inside their doors again.

I was quoted a price of 127$ for a procedure on my daughters kitten. When I received the bill it was 100$ higher than the quote. 28$ of which was extra charges that I had agreed upon for a rabies booster and take home pain meds. The rest was for anesthesia, pain meds, antibiotic, and a tag for the rabies vaccine. Seriously- I have never been quoted a price for surgery where anesthesia and antibiotics were not included, not has any vet ever charged me 5 $ extra for a tag. We have used many vets in the past but never had one lie to us- this will be the last time we will use Animal Hospital of Lubbock. After this was written I received a letter stating that due to the misunderstanding I would be receiving a check to refund for the difference and several days later they did send a check for a little over 100$. Because I appreciate the fact that they ultimately did the right thing and they obviously care about their reputation I am upgrading their star level to a three.
