Moving from a large metropolitan city, it was a shock coming to Laredo, as was coming to this clinic. Appointments arent necessary which can be good if there is no other customers are there, but can be rather inconvenient when you end up waiting 25 minutes for a simple visit. After a few times of taking my pets there, I was just never was able to trust Dr. Santos. Initially, he seems OK, but then after going every time and being told scary things about what MIGHT happen if you dont order this test or pay for this procedure, you get the feeling that he is just after money. My aunt, coincidentally, also experienced this with him which is why she dreaded taking her pets there, having been scared into spending over $1,200 on them both the last time she went. When she told me that, it confirmed my gut feeling about Dr. Santos and his scare tactics. At least I only spent $700 within the first 2 months of bringing in my new pets. Additionally, the last thing that really scared me was when my female cat came back from being spayed. She is a very tiny and petite cat and after going online to research her strange behavior--completely dilated pupils and appearing not to be able to see anything in front of her-- (Im a life-long cat owner and am familiar with what cats behave like after surgery), I came to the conclusion he had given her too much anesthesia for her size. When I asked him about what Id learned online he completely dismissed the "Internet" and any information on it! As educated and tech-savvy person, holding a Bachelors degree and attending graduate school, I felt belittled and wondered if thats just how people were in Laredo--distrusting of the "Internet"! (He was not the first in Laredo to show this same attitude about the "Internet.") In any case, Im just grateful the experience didnt give her permanent blindness which is what happens when too much anesthesia is given.

While he may know his stuff, Dr. Santos will most likely use scare tactics and the love of your pet against you. I went in to get my cat checked out because it seemed to be having urinary tract infection symptoms. He claimed it was life threatening and that an emergency surgery needed to be performed. $800 was the cost asked for and I needed time to think about it. I mentioned to him, that a friends cat went through a surgery with him for a similar issue, but didnt make it anyway. Yes the medical field has no guarantees and whatever, but he got offended and told me to go somewhere else even though we probably would have fell for his scam anyway. The next day I went for a second opinion, and the other vet said my cat was fine, because he didnt react in pain or discomfort when he was touched somewhere. That other place gave him a shot and that was that. Its been about a week since and my cat that was apparently in life-threatening danger, is back to normal the way he was before. The guy just wants your money and I dont blame him since he hardly has any costumers lined up.

THIS IS MY HONEST REVIEW: I took my kitten to the vet that its on Clark, but after a week of treatment and seeing that my kitten was getting worse and worse. I decided to do something because she had stopped eating. It was a Wednesday and my vet doesnt open those days so I decided to take the risk and go to Mr.Santos. I was a little bit skeptical about it while at the waiting room reading all the negative reviews. After my poor kitten got seen, the receptionist told me the total cost of everything. It was EXPENSIVE but I went ahead and trusted this Veterinary. My kitten finished the treatment and shes as healthy as she can be. I truly recommend this Vet if you are in an emergency and cant go to Nuevo Laredo. They utilize high quality medicine so thats why it comes down expensive. Thanks to them my kitten survived. I decided to give a positive review so you dont find yourself in doubt. Also since everyone thinks he is expensive and has bad reviews theres no waiting time so its perfect if you are in a rush. Thank you Mr.Santos and staff.

I wanted to know the age of a dog that came into my rescue group, because the owner had severe medical issues and had to surrender him. When I call the clinic for any DOG information, i.e. age and how long they had been caring for him, they were so rude I couldnt believe it. Not only would they not help me, but they hung up on me. I guess there only concern in covering their mistakes, but because they sure dont care about the dogs. They can claim PRIVACY, but know a DOGS age is not a privacy act. Especially when I can tell them who the owner is and how I got the dog. I would not take a scorpion to this clinic.

Super expensive, bad customer service, gives you very limited options and doesnt work with you. Took my very sick dog on a Thursday, agreed to the ridiculous amount he was asking for and my dog was seizing the very next morning looking worse than the day before. Took him back and had to pay another ridiculous amount only to be told all tests/X-rays looked normal and that we would have to take my dog to a 24 hour clinic in SA for further tests and that HOPEFULLY they would find out what was wrong with him. Definitely would NOT recommend. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

My dog was attacked by another neighborhood dog while I was out running with her. She had vet deep wounds on her back and side. The next day I decided to take her in and it was New Years Eve. Dr. Santos and his vet tech came in nonetheless and cared for my dog for two days. I am happy to say that she is now all healed up thanks to antibiotics and an ointment he prescribed to her. He also cured an ear infection she had about two months earlier with some drops. Excellent vet and an excellent man.
