Dr. Ricardo Alverado does not have any desire to "put you back in the drivers seat" nor does he use a "compassionate" approach to pain management. My experience was terrible and I urge anyone who is considering going to him for help to read reviews others have posted on other websites, he is rated below average in every catagory. I tried to leave a review on his Facebook page but it was quickly deleted and so was the review section all together which speaks volumes of the man himself. I dont even know where to start. The receptionist is rude and has no sympathy for your situation whatsoever, on one instance she thought i was on hold and i heard her saying "that stupid woman is calling again." I had a procedure from doctor Alverado and my pain was even worse following. I tried to call for help or advice but again was treated rudely. Himself nor anyone in that office called to see how i was doing. I explained my medication situation to him 3 times and it fell upon deaf ears. He said i was too depressed to receive normal pain medication which theres no doubt; when you have the pain and health problems like i do, of course youre going to be depressed. I went in there and broke down because of the pain and how its changed my life. He had no "compassion"...he didnt want to get me in the "drivers seat." My honesty hurt me instead of helped my situation. He sent me away with a strange perscription. I asked, "Well wait, what are we gonna do about my pain?" and his response? "Well you have MS, you know?." I dropped the paper at the pharmacy and he soon canceled it like he was not aware of the medications i was currently taking. He didnt take the time to do the math or just didnt care enough. I urge anyone that wants to be taken care of, and respected by the staff to please go else ware. I thought i was the only one who has this experience but after reading the reviews and seeing the lady who had an appt before me shaking her cane in the air arguing with the receptionist about meds and her appt, i know Im not the only one that feels this way. This doctor, is in a rush and he will definetely do a procedure on you, but youre on your own after that.

I have had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Ricardo Alvarado for about 2 1/2 years, in this time, I have had three lower back fusion surgeries from my surgeon, due to an accident at work. During this time, Dr. Alvarado has successfully assisted me in managing and lowering my pain levels significantly to the point that I can now function in my life easier. Dr. Alvarado took the time to take me through several steps prior to having an implant put into my lower back to manage my pain. In this, I have been through several rounds of epidural injections to decrease the pain, which help some, without having to go directly to a higher level of treatment. Unfortunately for me, I was in the percentage range that conventional epidural injections would not work long-term for me. At his suggestion along with my research, he recommended the Nevro Neuo-Stem implant. After research and going through the trial, I elected to have the implant done and I am very happy that I did. Since the implant a little over a month ago, my pain has been reduced to half of what it was before. I trust and thank Dr. Alvarado for all his help in managing and elevating a good portion of my pain. I would recommend to anyone that if they are going through severe pain, to meet with Dr. Alvarado for treatment options. Dr. Alvarado will take the time to work you through all the steps and take care of you as if you were one of his own family members. With his friendly, caring and highly knowledgeable demeanor you will be glad that you gave him a call and met with him. Also his clinical staff George and Jackie are great people to deal with and will treat you right. If you get to the point of having to have a Neuro-Stem implant done, I highly recommend the Nevro unit.

Dr. Alvarado and Jonathan Haag are both amazing men. My daughter is 16 and for the last 4 years has battled a terrible, terrible disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, also know as CRPS/RSD). Even on tons of medications the pain was still very severe. After finding Dr. Alvarado we made the 4 hour trip, and she did a 4 hr for 4 days set of ketamine infusions. She had 0-1 pain level for 3 months! The pain returned and we returned to Dr. A for a one day booster infusion. I cant even count the number of doctors weve seen in last 4 years. I cant even count how many appointments weve both left crying and hopeless. The first visit with Dr. A, we both left in tears, but tears of hope. He and Jonathan are very much worth our 4 hr travels. I completely trust my baby in their hands, and that says a lot for me.

Most lazy and worst doctor in san antonio Just spoke to you on billy madison show and didnt realize it was you but i have to say that i take back saying i needed your help you are a horrible and lazy doctor i spent a whole year with you waiting for a response on my epidural injection and it only takes 3 weeks to get a response you were either to stupid or lazy to read the emails it it wasted a whole year of my time let alone having to go to different clinics Everytime i had to see you one clinic was over 45 miles away not even in san antonio city limits i was on workers comp and they cut you off after 2 years you waisted half of my time i had high hopes for you in the beginning ut you let me down big time...

This guy is a joke. I saw him for a workmans comp back injury due to an oil field accident and two years later nothing has changed, still in pain and still getting the run around. For the past two weeks Ive tried to see this Dr. and he not only double books patients but he doesnt even have the courtesy to call before hand and cancel, but waits to tell you while you are in the waiting room. Not to mention the receptionist, who is rude and has very limited vocabulary. If you truly need help for pain this isnt the guy for you

Ok, so I was able to get in and Dr. A is the ish! Although we are still working on the right treatment for me, Ive felt so blessed to have such a great, fun doc to work with. He truly cares about whats ailing you....and thats rare! Johnathan, the infusion nurse is pretty great too. He is inspirational. In short (or long) this office is like the fam youve been waiting for! Thanks Dr. A and J....I TRULY appreciate all you do for me and all of your patients suffering from a condition that is difficult to understand.

Dr Alvarado, Jonathan Haag, and all the staff are WONDERFUL! I could not have asked for a better team to be behind me with a plan, like the one they have in place, that gave me my life back! Every other doctor just wanted to mask the pain. DR. A finds the source of the pain and starts there! NO MORE run of the mill kinda of doc in the box deal here! I thank them everyday for giving me my life back! Thank you! All the work you do is greatly appreciated!
