Back October, 2016 my wife took our daughter to Memorial Urgent Care because she was experiencing problems with her ears. After flushing out her ears and prescribing medication they were on their way back home. Prior to their visit I contacted my insurance company to verify if Memorial Pembroke was in fact a urgent care facility and they advised me yes. In addition, I called Memorial Pembroke and advised me the same. A month later I receive a bill for $75 which is the amount for my copay for an urgent care visit. However, two months later I received a bill for $637.07, in reference to my daughters visit. After contacting the billing department (Healthcare Financial Services) who represent the doctors advised me, Memorial bills you and we bill You on behave of the doctors. When I advised her that Memorial is an urgent care she stated "yes were an urgent care but we run like a ER." WTH! I cant make this up! She further stated their doctors are emergency room doctors, their for we bill for emergency room only. So, why do I pay an urgent care fee and then an emergency room fee. Its one or the other not both! After contacting my insurance company they advised me that Memorial Pembroke Urgent Care has a Tax ID for an urgent care. If you google the location it reads Memorial Pembroke 24/7.....Urgent Care Facility, not emergency room. How misleading is that! Does the location provide notice giving patients notice the difference in pricing and or services?. Do we have selective pricing, because I went their for the some issue involving my ears and had them flushed out by on staff doctor and didnt receive an emergency room bill. I did pay my copayment and thats it! In addition, to the times Ive gone there for several other reasons and only paid copayment. If I wanted to go to the emergency room then I would have gone to Memorial West. $637.07 for an ear flush!!! This is false advertising and you are misleading people in believing that this facility is a urgent care. How about posting a sign that informs people of your medical bill coding practices and given them an option to stay or leave. I will continue my quest to inform as many people as possible "Help me Howard," Facebook live and twitter.

In May 2016, I was experiencing severe knee pain and decided to stop in after work to the Urgent care center in Hollywood, wanting to avoid unnecessary ER charges. As it was quiet in the Urgent care, I was seen quickly and out of there in less than an hour, a quick xray, Md visit and Rx for medication, one pain pill, no monitors, no other procedures, labs or testing needed. I was pleased with the quick and pleasant service. There is a sign in the lobby with some possible charges for cash patients. I have insurance, but expected this would be fall under my deductible. About 2 months later, I received a bill from Memorial for $208. OK, that was reasonable. I never received a bill prior, so I had no idea this was processed as an ER visit and my insurance was billed $1064 which my insurance reduced to 208. Billed separately by the Radiologist for $61, and the big surprise, in August I received a bill from the ER Md group, who billed me $982 for this quick visit, with plan discount I still owe $432! Outrageous! I went to an Orthopedic MD later and had an injection and only have to pay $182. While I have no complains with the service, I have a big problem with the billing. I did not notice any sign about being charged for an ER visit. I went to the free standing Urgent care to avoid those costs. I called the MD group who told me that they bill for an ER visit in the Urgent care and would not reduce the cost. I would have been better off going elsewhere or waiting until the next day. I am a medical professional and know that the Memorial system has a good reputation for patient care. But, this billing for Urgent care was unexpected. The patient should be informed of anticipated costs. I would have left and not received services if I knew the Md charge would be this high. I have been to other urgent care centers and never had bills like this.

Be wary of any facility associated with Memorial Hospital. Especially this "Urgent Care Center"! I went in to drain a blister on my toe and they sent in the claim as an emergency room visit! Although all indications (the building exterior, interior, and all paperwork) are that this is an urgent care center they said "well, the doctor is an emergency room doctor, so that is how we bill". Bait and switch if you ask me. I went in to the "Urgent Care Center" instead of "Emergency Room" for a reason! Luckily my insurance company agreed with me and paid for the outrageous emergency room cost. A week later, I received another bill! This time from "Memorial Hospital". The hospital claims that "you will receive a bill from the urgent care center AND also from the hospital". What??? So not only was this bill, unexpected and suspicious, but they also billed it incorrectly as "Automobile accident"! Keep in mind, I only went in to drain a blister on my toe! Now, I was being billed for and automobile accident! Once again, my insurance company saw the ridiculousness of this and dealt with the claim. All though the staff seems nice, the Memorial billing department seem incompetent. This is quite important, since this will only add stress and become a nightmare in addition to whatever reason you went in the the urgent care center in the first place. Stay away from this place!

Very unpleasant experience. Most of the staff had a serious attitude but for a couple of nurses, who were actually pleased to perform their job. Lots of attitude from the initial contact to the end. The Doctor did seem OK and I felt somewhat comfortable dealing with him. Other than that, most of the nurses had real attitude and kept asking repetitious questions that had nothing to do with my injury. I had to explain my injury *multiple times* as opposed to receiving prompt and courteous treatment. A test was initially ordered upon my arrival but then cancelled by a random nurse. How does that happen? The technician came back a second time after being told by the Doctor to administer the Test. She was very rude. I will not be returning to this facility ever again and neither will my family. I was asked multiple times if I smoke, drank, etc. Very bizarre, It seemed they were more focused on unrelated questions than my injury. These people definately dont know how to establish rapport with their clients, in fact they do the exact opposite of that. Im in the health care field myself and I know establishing rapport and making my clients feel at ease is very important. They did the exact opposite but for one or two people. Memorial hospital has always had a good reputation. However this place does not meet those standards and I was a bit disappointed. I wont be back..

Horrible! DO NOT allow ER nurse "Jacklyn", RN. tend to you. She is evil. First she will come off as snotty, stand offish and disinterested in you no matter what kind of pain you are in. Forget if you have questions. You are a bother to her. Take this as a warning. I believe she is malicious and I do not trust what she did to me in the ER. Most of the other nurses are plainly incompetent and I would not recommend them to treat a cold. Forget the upstairs staff. They are abysmally incompetent and negligent. Experience included: 1. Dad had no IV in "intensive care" while in coma and elderly for over two hours, with no pain meds for his broken him. Despicable. 2. Another year, dad was given the wrong medications for 3 days at age 79. 3. Incompetent nurses dont know how to find you vein to stick a huge painful catheter in. This "nurse" poked my dad FIVE TIMES, causing sever pain each time. If I had not shown up, she would have kept doing it....AND IN THE DARK. 4. Same visit, my father was not given dinner and had not eaten in 17 after extensive tests. Nurses excuse "Oh no! I forget. I was rushing off of my shift". THIS PLACE IS HELL ON EARTH. Tell the ambulance to take you elsewhere if you have an extra 10 minutes within your emergency to do so. You have been warned.
