Dr. Lavery was extremely condescending in each of my 3 appointments with him for my then undiagnosed polyarthritic type joint pain at age 21. He and his staff constantly broke HIPPA regulations, using a chat program to discuss and belittle other patients on a monitor I could easily see during my examination. There was also a webcam on the monitor pointing at the exam table. When I asked him about it, he claimed it didnt work, but it still made me and my mother (an RN who accompanied me to 1 appointment) uneasy. The insulation between exam rooms is nonexistant, allowing patients to hear other exams very clearly. After holding for 30+ minutes, each of my calls for test results, medication questions (I often found his prescriptions conflicted with my other prescriptions or were the worst possible choices given my other medical problems) or scheduling would be met with a promise of a call back. These promises were literally never upheld. I'd call multiple times in the course of a week to get one simple question answered. I eventually got a grammatically incorrect form letter informing me I did not have an inflammatory arthritis but that I probably have psoriatic arthritis. PsA IS an inflammatory arthritis. After a few unanswered calls for clarification, I cancelled all further appointments. Six months later, I received a sizable bill because Dr. Lavery charged my insurance company twice for the same test on the same day. The billing office said I only just now got the bill because they were, "out of stamps." I can't even make that level of incompetence and poor business management up. I'm not sure if my young age factored into my poor treatment by this man and his staff, but steer clear. My dealings with this doctor represent my worst medical experience but also my worst customer service experience, period.

My 86 year-old mother sees Dr. Lavery for a recent onset of rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Lavery and his staff have always been extremely courteous, professional and efficient. The wait time to be seen has been 30 minutes or less, calls and/or emails are returned/responded to the same day, and test results are communicated via the patient portal in an equally timely manner. He takes the overall health of the patient into consideration with his treatment and discusses the pros and cons of available options. Dr. Lavery came highly recommended from the local physicians in Sherman, and he has held true to their esteem. Our experiences with him and his staff have been well worth the time and travel to see him.

I have been working with Dr. Lavery and his incredible office assistants and receptionists since September of this year (2016). In less than a month, I have has 15+ xrays, a lumbar MRI, 3 different blood labs drawn, and a referral to a pain management physician. While scheduling and actual "office" visit is difficult, their team keeps you updated and everything continues to progress via their online portal. They are all very brilliant and kind, but oh so busy because of it! Dr. Lavery himself is very pragmatic and intelligent, while is assistants are warm, patient, and wise. I love this office and the streamlined care and direction Ive been receiving.

I was fairly young, at the time, to be suffering from arthritis pain (or so I was told by other doctors), and other doctors did not believe that I could have it. When bloodwork came back negative, Dr. Lavery did not give up and went another couple of steps to verify that I did, indeed have arthritis. No other doctor was willing to go past a blood test. Ive never had a doctor work FOR AND with me. When I was pregnant, he found natural remedies to assist in a flare up. Im so impressed....he and his office staff are amazing. I tell EVERYONE about him...I truly feel blessed to have him as a doctor.

Dr. Lavery is extremely competent; he takes time to explain what tests he wants to order and why he wants them. He has DVDs to help educate you about your illness. The Patient Portal is wonderful; the staff responds quickly to your questions and Dr. Lavery sends a letter explaining your lab results, all electronically. In addition, each staff member is knowledgeable, courteous, and very pleasant to deal with. I am very pleased to have found Dr. Laverys practice.

Wonderful doctor and fabulous staff! At first he may seem "business-like" but after seeing him for over 3 years now I can assure you he is caring and even funny sometimes. He and his staff know who I am the minute I walk in the door and he even remembers personal stuff (like where my son goes to college) and asks about stuff like that once he gets to know you. His staff (and him too) have gone out of their way many times for me with no complaints.
