I found the vet to be extremely competent and kind. I visited hospital three times. What causes me to leave only two stars is the office staff. The times Ive gone to the front to pay for my visit, there was a young lady at the desk that was snarky without provocation, think: mean girls. I was surprised by her surly tone and wondered if she was like this with everyone or if I was receiving "special treatment". She didnt say anything mean, rather she glares at you, speaks curtly and looks annoyed that she has to deal with you. My poor cat was very sick. Its tough when your pet is dying so its not a good experience to deal with a bitchy front desk person. I didnt say anything rude or do anything to provoke this attitude from her. In addition, there is another older girl, that works at the front desk, on the surface she seems nice but she seems to get easily irritated and you eventually realize that she is just putting on a "friendly act". I also found it unpleasant dealing with her. I honestly cannot fathom why people like this work in customer service. I guess they are doing their job in a competent enough manner that justifies their employment but they really do lack the sincere qualities needed to interact with distressed pet owners in such an environment. I took my cat to Prospect Park Animal Clinic during her last hours. They are friendlier and they handled the delicate situation well. As you can imagine, I was devastated by my pets passing. So whenever I opened my email and got another promotional message from Allison Animal Hospital reminding me to bring my cat in etc., it was an sad reminder in an already trying time. I finally wrote to them and asked to stop receiving messages specifically letting them know that my cat had passed. I did stop receiving messages but they never bothered to respond to my message to express any measure of condolence. Meanwhile, Prospect Park Animal Clinic mailed me a bereavement card in which they said that they had made a donation in my pets name to an animal support fund. These small measures matter.

I would give 10 stars if I could! I have a 19yo cat who (b/c of aging) has hyperthyroidism, CKD, and a heart murmur. Ive been taking him to Allison Animal Hospital for a little over a year. Here are a few things that Dr. Klein and his staff do that are exceptional -- 1) They include you in the process. Alongside in-house tests, they ask _really good questions_ that rely on your knowledge of your pet -- i.e., how your pets sleeping, eating, or any new behaviors. This always gives me confidence in the diagnosis and treatment plan. 2) They help you understand the basics so you know how to provide good care at-home -- and how to be flexible as things change. In addition to meds, Ive had to add supplements like potassium -- and I now know how and when to moderate these to keep my senior cat feeling healthy, loved, and cared for. 3) They think of *you* when theyre finding solutions for your pet. A senior pet can put a lot of stress on a family -- and Dr Klein always thinks about what will work for all of us, not just the feline members of our household. Lastly, the whole office is WONDERFUL -- from Liz and Danielle at the front desk, to the vet techs Lily and Jarlin, and the office manager Noam. Because theyre such a great team, I love bringing my cat to around to see them, each time. That they do this for everyone who walks through the door is both obvious and APPRECIATED!

Two things - my doggie was an early patient of Dr. Kleins and had two surgeries performed by him with great success. These surgeries dont include two extremely well done dentals (Their dental guy is also extraordinary - I wish I knew his name.). Recently my dog passed away while I was at work. When I found her, I was grief-stricken and beside myself. It was after 630pm, but the practice was still open, and they waited for me to bring her in. They took custody of my dogs remains and are handling the cremation. On a happier note, not long ago, the last and final time I was at the practice w/my dog, I sat in the waiting room next to a couple w/a teensy, 10 year-old yorkie. First time patient. They told me their little girl spazzed with fear at the vets. I definitely thought theyd have a different experience here, and sure enough, when her appointment was over the yorkie was so relaxed she looked like shed had a doggie massage. Her mouth was open in a smile and she was literally lolling belly up in her owners arms. Its a big practice in terms of patients, but has all the resources you could ask for, and all the skill. I believe Drs. Klein and Ryan are an effective team, because their approaches are quite different, but I know many pet owner who swear by Dr. Ryan and many who swear by Dr. Klein (the owner of the practice).

My Kong haired domestic Maine Cooney mix cat Kurt was recently in a fight with another cat in my building and got his eye scratched. I brought him to this animal hospital 10 minutes before close and they were more than happy to help me. Staff stayed late and addressed my concerns, seeing him within five minutes. My cat was bleeding from inner eye, so it was nice to have great help so quickly. The staff and vet were all helpful, answered all my questions, and were gentle and sweet with Kurt. I was done within 1/2 hour. This includes the doctor showing me how to apply antibiotic cream to Kurts eye. They gave me a card with the email and told me to send daily pics for three days of Kurts eye, and I found that to show they truly care about the health even when Im not there. Had never been there before and they were great. Its super fancy in the lobby but for people with lower cost vets that are 80, know that I was more than happy to spend 125 on the vet visit, physical (weighed, body inspection, mouth) and antibiotics due to the quick and accommodating service. One of our friends from Prospect Park recommended Dr Klein and we have decided to switch Vets last year. We went there for a first consultation (meet & greet) and then annual physical and shots. First, they wanted us to buy the Heartguard medication they sell in the office, but we always get it online for half of the price. I have just placed an online order for Heartguard medication , which my dog must take in a monthly basis to prevent heartworms. The online pharmacy vendor called Alison Animal to obtain a prescription . Surprisingly, the office staff , Noam, gave us a hassle to approve the order and we ended up going back to our last Vet clinic to get it done. Noam handles all the clients request, despite the fact of being stupid and incompetent. Simple as it can be, and they were not able to submit a refill for an online prescription .My dog last vet has never hesitated in doing so!!! Bottom line: No hassle!!! We have choices! Wellness comes first! Find a Vet you can count on! Of course, we will not recommend this clinic to our furry friends!

Dont be fooled by the positive reviews. The office staff at Alison Animal Hospital will pick and choose who gets the star treatment, and simple requests with regards to forms of contact will be ignored since they are not convenient for them. I was denied a follow-up appointment because I requested email communication, which I was told I would receive following my first visit, and then after emailing several days over the course of a week I got a direct contact from the person who referred me to the practice after which I finally got through only to be told to go somewhere else because I wanted email correspondence since I cannot answer my phone at work. The excuse was that they are a small business and they cannot reply that quickly. In my experience as a small business owner and from working with other small businesses, that is a ridiculous excuse that will only keep you small. They were nothing but pleasant when I had my first visit, but once youre out of their practice the tides turn and they become incredibly rude.
