I have wanted to write this review since I left our first visit in January, but every time I sat down to do it, it always felt substandard. It really comes down to this: you could not bring your pet to better humans than those at Back Bay Vet. They hashtag many of their Instagrams with #allcreaturesgreatandsmall and you feel that sentiment all around you when you’re there. From the people who check you in, to the techs, and the doctors, you will not find more patient, friendly, animal-respecting people in Boston. They took such good care of my sweet little guinea pig from the moment we met. I’m admittedly a bit of a worrier (understatement of the year), and even I felt wholly comfortable boarding her for over 4 days at BBVC, knowing she would be safe and getting the best possible care. And I didn’t just bring her here for basic check ups or nail trims. Dr. Satchu performed major surgery on her, and continued to follow up regularly with me even beyond her formal recovery period had ended. I can only scratch the surface here of all the love and compassion she showed both my guinea pig and myself during such a difficult time; there really aren’t words to describe it fully. I tell everyone that they could not put their trust or their beloved animals in the hands of better people than they could here. I’m only sad that I don’t have more friends with pets that I could recommend BBVC to. Thank you for everything that you do.

I have taken one of my cats here a couple of times because it was very conveniently located in my neighborhood. Beautiful new practice right on one of Bostons main shopping streets. But you get to pay a hefty fee for the privilege. I dont doubt that their care is good, but I always felt that you are given a list of treatment options, with the most extensive and expensive one the one that is recommended. During my last visit here they recommend a "senior cat exam" for my totally healthy 9 yo cat, so I said sure. Not exactly sure what they did other than take blood and urine, because the appointment didnt take any longer than a regular one. The only difference was that for the first time ever, my cat was totally freaked out afterward and actually pooped in her carrier, which she had never done before (or since). And when the bill came, it was $442 (or something like that--I almost fainted). Thats a lot of money for a totally routine examination. So, it you go here, make sure you bring a lot of money. Or at least ask beforehand what the treatment will cost.

Weve been going here with our two rescued cats for nearly 2 years now and theyve always been very good. Interested in the cats, good at handling them (ones extremely shy), and follow up appropriately. They do sometimes suggest non-essential courses of treatment that can be very expensive - if money wasnt an issue then Id probably go with it but the prices for blood tests and other things can be off-putting, particularly if your pet isnt in any distress at the time. Maybe if we had insurance it would be OK but our cats had a basket of problems when we rescued them so I dont think theyd be covered. Still, theyre very handy to get to and I trust them so I would recommend them to other folks nearby. If money is an issue though and you can travel further afield you might want to shop around for more complex procedures.

I get very nervous bringing my cat to the vet. Being new to the Boston area, my anxiety was at an all time high when I brought my cat in to be treated for her sickness. From the front desk to the technicians, to the Doctor, the entire Back Bay Clinic made my cat and my experience so pleasant. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Everyone worked to soothe my anxiety and treat my cat with top notch care. Dr. Torres treated my cat so well and technician Noelle was so educated and even showed me helpful ways to groom my cat! She left looking great and felt better in no time. Thank you Back Bay Veterinary Clinic.

I adore Back Bay Vet Clinic. I bring my 2 persian cats in and actually look forward to the visits! The office is super cute, everyone working is friendly and helpful, and the vets are wonderful (and weve seen several!). Their hours are really convenient - Ive been able to get my cat in at the last minute at 7:30pm when they close at 8 and theyre open on weekends! Whenever I have any concerns, I call them and they see us right away. I feel like my cats are genuinely cared about by everyone on the staff. I recommend them to anyone!

This place will harass you to get a procedure done. Ive been emailed and called numerous of times about a teeth cleaning for my dog that adds up to about $1200. But they cant send me a free diet program for my dog when they said they would? Very professional. Id consider going to a different veterinary clinic because they obviously care more about their profits more than our animals.

Theyve taken very good care of my little doggie. Hes 10yrs old now, going strong and happy. Theyve also taken great care of the newest addition, now 2yrs old, to my puppy family. Theyve kept both healthy, and ME organized!
