The bridge work about which I am complaining began on January 31, 2012., and after six months, has still not “settled down” but, rather, continues to cause pain. Administration of anesthesia: 1. During appointment to remove root tip, he hit a nerve that caused my lips and chin to be numb for approximately 5 months. When I returned to find out what was going on, he was very matter-of-fact about it, stating that he hits that nerve maybe a dozen times a year and that the feeling should come back in up to 6 months. He was actually quite cavalier about it and did not apologize at all. 2. The next time he gave me a shot, he got a tongue nerve that felt like a strong electric current running through my tongue – twice! Again, the lackadaisical attitude, saying that happens about once a day. Sadly, it happened to me again the next time he gave me a shot. 3. After all of the shots, the achiness at the point of contact lingered much longer – upwards of 3 – 4 weeks – than I have ever experienced before. 4. I don’t know if his bad handling of needles is due to lack of skill or lack of caring. Work actually performed by Dr, Miller 1. It feels like a factory in his office, with Dr. Miller jumping from room to room. The majority of the work was completed by the dental assistants. The brand new assistant (who could not locate the instruments required to take the bridge impression) had a difficult time completing the impression. The procedure was later taken over by a different assistant. Where was Dr. Miller in this? I don’t know. The temporaries had to be remade. (It should be noted that I wanted to have my broken crown replaced and the bridge be a four tooth bridge, not attached to the back, left tooth. I was told it would be better to make one bridge with 5 teeth. My concern, that if any part of the bridge needed to be repaired or replaced, it would be more expensive with it having 5 “teeth” rather than 4. The dentist’s point was that it would be a stronger bridge with having three anchors rather that two. 2. I had complained of pain under a crown that was due to be replaced, but as it had already had a root canal, it was determined that it was the adjoining tooth that needed a root canal. I chose to wait until after a series of antibiotics before having the work done. Unfortunately, I still have pain in the tooth that was deemed not to need another root canal. 3. The bridge itself: the front connector is too large. Dr. Miller had to come in and file away at it until he couldn’t take any more off, yet it is still too large. I frequently bite the inside of my mouth because it juts out too far. It aches constantly and I need to take ibuprofen to ease the throbbing. At one point, Dr, Miller chipped off part of the porcelain on the bridge. He softly muttered under his breath and when I asked, “What?” he said it wasn’t important because it was not in the front. In addition, the teeth do not line up with the upper teeth. (He later stated that was because I had an unusual “bite” but I had already told him that believeing he would take that into account). As the process wore on, the smiling, easy-going façade started to drop, and he seemed to want to finish up and get away immediately. I feel he knew this was a sustandard job, and at over $5,000.00 for the total procedure, it should have been done properly and I should not have daily residual pain. This is a very long review and will be the basis for a professional complaint with the dental board, should I decide to file one.

Every time that I visit the dentist at the Center for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry I have a wonderful experience! Its hard to believe that I have been going here for 7 years, the staff has been just as friendly now as they were back then. Before coming here I dreaded having to go to the dentist and doing any type of work on my teeth, but because of the great care that I experience here time and time again my view of going to the dentist has changed! In these past 7 years I have had my share of work done on my teeth from fillings, to root canals, to 2 permanent bridges, ect and all I can say is I am so thankful to Dr. Miller and all the staff that has helped along the way to bring my teeth to the condition that they are in today! I have come along way with where the condition of my teeth are now and I am happy with my smile! One thing of several that I like is I am always put at ease with all my questions getting answered before, during, and after a procedure. I also appreciate how Dr. Miller calls after any major procedure done to make sure I am feeling ok, Thank you Dr. Miller! Nyla has been my hygienist here for all these years and she always does such a nice job! I enjoy going in for my teeth cleaning with her because I know she always does a thorough job while making me feel comfortable and cared for, thank you Nyla! Recently I went in to get my second permanent bridge put in and it couldnt have gone any better. I was a little nervous of going through the procedure because it had been a couple years from the last bridge I got done, but Julie the assistant and Dr. Miller did such a great job in making me feel comfortable from beginning to the end and I felt minimal discomfort. Julie is very thoughtful and caring and a great doctors assistant! I like being distracted while they are working on my teeth by watching a movie of my choice, which for me being a stay at home mom with two kids, its a plus to have this sit down time and be around such wonderful staff! Last but not least I cant say enough about the front desk ladies, from the way they greet you at the door, to the way they call you beforehand to remind you of your appointment they are super at customer service! Angie is super sweet when she calls and reminds me of my appts or any other time I have talked to her on the phone. At the end of all my appts I enjoy getting checked out by Shelly who explains to me thoroughly what has been done and goes over anything else on my treatment plan, she is so sweet and friendly and really does an awesome job, it has been so nice to see her familiar face all of these years each time that I come in. Thank you Shelly! I highly recommend the Center for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry to friends and family.

In 2013 I had a number of procedures performed at this office. Among them was a root canal and crown; also, Dr. Miller advised me that the removal of some old amalgam fillings and their replacement with composite was in the best interest of my dental health. His staff completed that service on teeth in the right side of my mouth. I was to schedule the same procedure for the left side, but I had incurred such credit card debt on what was already done and above what insurance would pay for that I did not follow through with the second half of the process. This turned out to be a blessing. In 2015, around two years later, the tooth that had been treated with a root canal and then crowned broke off at the gum line. I had moved by then, so I had to see a dentist at a practice in another town, north of Denver. He said that the tooth appeared to have decayed from the inside out, meaning that the root canal was not well executed. He also told me that the fillings on the left side of my mouth were not problematic at all, and that replacing them would have been an expensive and completely cosmetic boondoggle. Fast forward another year, and many of the composite fillings that Dr. Millers staff replaced the older amalgam fillings with have crumbled. I went to see a dentist here in Denver, with more than a tinge of bitterness about composite fillings; he showed me my x-rays, done today, that showed voids in the filling material from 2013. He described the composite filling process as being highly technique-sensitive, and didnt mince words at all about the kind of procedure that would had left me with fillings and a root canal/crown that had all failed. He punted out that, correctly done, composite fillings have a very long service lifetime (this is true - I have fillings that were done in composite in 1994, and that are still trouble-free.) I see a lot of positive reviews here, and I am honestly glad for anyone that had good care and a solid experience with this practice. Maybe I just caught the doctor and staff on a bad day or two. It is worth noting that I will spend $4,300 remediating the work I had done there just a little more than three years ago (thats out of pocket, campers - after insurance takes care of their part.) I suppose its like anything else, in being a roll of the dice in terms of what you will get. Like any roll of the dice, though, you should probably hang on to your wallet.
