I apologize for the length of this review, but for anyone even considering going to Coast Dental, please read before going. Unfortunately I made the mistake of changing to a cheaper insurance plan (Guardian) and was given only Coast Dental as an option. I read the reviews but thought how bad could it really be? Got my x-rays and examination done and was relatively painless. Everything looked good - a couple of small cavities, but nothing to worry about. Scheduled a cleaning and after waiting an hour in the waiting room, I was told I needed a "Gingivitis Cleaning" at a cost of $250!! of which insurance covered nothing (vs. the routine cleaning which is covered 100% by insurance). I asked why I would need this since Ive been going to the dentist like clockwork (albeit more professional dentists) for the past 20 years and they have never recommended this. I declined the gingivitis cleaning and they refused to perform the routine cleaning (as Ive had twice a year for the past 20 years). The dentist claimed that if they were audited by the board, they would be in trouble if they didnt perform it (which begs the question - what about the previous dentist(s) that Ive been to?) Ive never experienced anything like this before but then I began to read reviews on Coast Dental. They are infamous for their up charges and gouging customers unnecessarily. Whereas professional Dentists that have their own practice build their practices and clientele through fair, honest, and professional service, Coast Dental builds their revenue by gouging customers and scaring them into getting procedures that are totally unnecessary. Almost the same as someone going to a Jackson Hewitt or Liberty Tax to get their taxes done instead of a professional tax preparer. Needless to say, I obviously didnt spend the $250 for the gingivitis cleaning and have changed my insurance so I can visit a professional dentist. If youre still reading this review, I would highly recommend going to a professional dentist and not one that is related to a Coast Dental Practice. As a response to Coasts response, the dentists evaluation and diagnosis is complete nonsense - $250 for an unnecessary cleaning is ridiculous as my current dentist (non-Coast Dental) will confirm.

This is going to be kinda long, but I wanted to give an honest review... Back in March of this year, I came down with a very bad tooth absess. I have had dental problems for years. Seeing dentist after dentist, I didnt care for their practices or the way they treated me. I found Dr. Lake at Coast Dental. I called, crying from the pain and Dr Lake seen me that day. Started me on antibiotic treatment and scheduled for the emergency extraction. I was scared, to say the least. I had a few extractions before and they were unpleasant, to put it lightly. In short, Dr. Lake was amazing!! He ensured that I did not feel any pain before or after the extraction. I scheduled for a full exam. We determined that I was in perio-status and came up with a treatment plan. Being a college student, working and tending to 3 small boys, I wanted to be strategic in the treatment plan so I wasnt down for the count. We decided on a top denture and bottom partial. Dr. Lake and the entire staff is so friendly and understands my needs and respects my wants! I have been going and doing extractions over the past 3 months. I wanted to spread everything out, as I was finishing up college and tending to my 3 boys, I had to be able to function. I am so glad Dr. Lake understood this!! Today I went for my try-in and had my bottom 6 fill ins. Once again, Dr Lake lived up to his reputation! Gentle, knowledgeable, understanding and great at what he does! Seeing my bottom 6 fixed made me want to cry happy tears! They look great!! I go back next month for my final extractions and placement of my new ones. I have full faith that Dr. Lake and his staff will deliver exceptional service once again!! If I need to speak with them, they answer right away or call back within a few hours! They are quick in services, welcome emergencies and always so friendly and respectful!! I HIGHLY recommend every one here!! I am so blessed to have found Dr. Lake and his staff after all the dentists I have suffered through over the years. I am no longer scared of the dentist!! I actually enjoy going and seeing everyone! I refuse to go anywhere else!!! I love all of you!! Thank you so much for everything you do and have done for me!!

First they moved my appointment at the last minute to a time I could not make. Then they argued with me and hung the phone up on me when I asked about how fast they could get me back in for the actual extraction. Then when I got there the tech messed up and the xray turned out wrong and had to be done again so I got a double dose of radiation. Then they informed me that although my insurance paid for an extraction that an additional charge would be added for "irrigation". I think they wanted about $65 for that which was more than the cost of pulling the tooth. They told me they would not pull the tooth unless I paid for the additional process which Id never heard of. The dentist said that they would go ahead and get the approval and work out the details after that. Several days go by and I call my insurance to see what progress had been made and it turns out the office never called my insurance and never notified me that they were not going to do that. I called the dentist office and asked them why they did that and of course got nothing but a hard time. Meanwhile the tooth is hurting, I am having trouble eating and now I have to find another dentist that isnt going to play games. They werent concerned that I was in pain and were rude again on the phone. I will be contacting the home office and letting them know what happened. Dont go there!

If you enjoy paying extra money, you would love this place! :) They are now opened at 7 AM on Monday and Wednesday, which is convenient to see dentist before going to work. Service is fast, and staffs are friendly. Dr. Lake and his team are knowledgeable and put extra detail in their work. Equipment is high technology. Service cost is fair. I would recommend this place to friends. Update 5/25/2017 : I have premium insurance that covered two free dental visits each year. Even so, I still paid $23 for required X-ray, $130 for 3 optional re-fillings, $30 for optional oral cancer exam - which is not bad since I got optional services. :) What made me doubting in their practice is when they are requiring me to pay Out-of-pocket for Gingivitis treatment. Two molars got no.4 probe (4 out of 10) when No.3 is considered healthy condition. The treatment is NOT covered by insurance. Booooooo... As a result, they REFUSED to provide me an insurance-covered teeth cleaning if I do NOT pay $186 EXTRA to them.

Every single time I call this location, and I do mean every single time, I am prompted to leave a voicemail " as all attendants are busy". I also have never received a call back, I usually have to call back myself. The waiting room is cramped and uncomfortable and to be honest, my wife and I did not feel very informed about the expected costs of things. I called to set up a "deep cleaning" appointment and they stated they have our insurance so to just come to the scheduled appointment. However, we were shocked that we were not notified until she was in the chair that with insurance and everything the cleaning would cost us 500.00. I just feel like we should have been aware of that with out having to request that once in the chair. Well, that day we were not prepared to spend 500.00 plus insurance for a teeth cleaning, so we left. We are now Advanced Dental Customers and already have better piece of mind with them (without explaining our regrets/issues at Coast Dental).
