I have lived in Lakeland more than 10 years. During that time Dr Shumaker was the third dentist where i have been a patient. The first where I have been a happy patient. The first dentist, chosen only by location,, I found non professional, with an inexperienced staff,including both technicians and billing staff. One day i arrived for an appointment and he had closed this local office no notice, not even a referral address.posted on the door of the empty office. I did not seek where he might have gone. The second, the technicians caused me pain I did not feel I should have for a cleaning. . The dentist was ok when he performed his procedures but then his billing staff ruined that experience by double billing,, billing for procedures not performed, billing under the wrong codes,and not submitting billing to the insurance before submitting it to me charging me for covered procedures. When I tried Dr Shumakers office. I was weary and extremely skeptical that I would not find the same problems. I was happily surprised. My insurance company was happy as well. Previous visits with the other dentists resulted in spending hours on the phone sorting through past visits and procedures to correct billing and coding errors, Dr Shumaker has been my dentist for several years now. The staff is wonderful. The technicians know their work, take their time, not rushing or causing pain. The billing staff has not once in years, given a questionable charge to me or my insurance. Not one error in several years time. I am happily amazed.at my experience with Dr. Shumakers office. I cannot over praise the work of Dr Shumaker or his staff in their respective functions. Normally, like most of us, I would not take the time to write a positive review when I am paying someone for a service. However after my experience with others related here and finally finding a professional, I owe it to Dr Shumaker, his staff, and my neighbors looking for a great dentist. Jack Markey Lakeland..

Wish I could write an unbiased review. After sitting in the waiting room, waiting for my appointment, the receptionist told me that they did not accept Humana / Medicare Insurance. Not sure why they did not tell me that when I made the appointment, the week before, because I left all of my insurance info and medical info when I did that. I am sure he would be just fine. Wish I could determine that as a fact.

Great people! Before coming to Florida every dentist we went to found many cavities in my family of 6. Even when my kids were 7 years old, they wanted to do fillings on each one of them; which I did not believe and never had them done. We have been going to Dr. Sheumaker for 11 years and only found a couple of cavities in all of us in 11 years! We all have healthy teeth. Very professional and trustworthy.

Worst Dentist in town! Had TOOTH pain for over 3 year while seeing him got tried of it went to a different dentist for second opinion and found I needed 9 cavities fixed and a crown! What a Waste of time and MONEY! Very rude office staff! AVOID AND SAVE YOUR TEETH!!!!!!

I have been a patient for approximately 20 years. Staff and doc are always super nice. I rarely wait for than ten minutes for whether it be a cleaning or more comprehensive visit. I actually pay extra for my insurance so that I can go to Doc Sheumaker!

Dentists make me nervous, but my experience at Dr. Sheumaker s was a pleasant one. The receptionist is friendly, appointments are convenient, the hygienists are great, and Dr. Sheumaker is calming and has a great sense of humor.
