Well... For starters, I went to this office because they were recommended and cheap... Realistic prices for the average person as opposed to my neighborhoods overpriced vet.
Second, I agree that the waiting rooms are HORRID! There was urine on the floor and cabinets, which is understandable b/c it's a vets office but could be cleaned up after clients leave each time. No worse than the SPCA in McKinney in that aspect. There were loose, dirty syringes in the sink that seemed readily available for my child to reach in and play with. WHERE are the red BIO boxes?!?
Third, though they are nice and friendly... The staff has a hard time retrieving data from files, vets, or where-ever it may come from. Luckily, I knew the right questions to ask b/c I might not have gotten any information from them.
Fourth, DO ask for a receipt with an itemized list for your own records and your pets medical history... I didn't receive one until I asked.
Fifth, the front office is consistent with animals being brought in and out all day, with LOTS of pet hair and dirt. The smell of the kennel area permeates the front and if you ever saw what I did... You might not use them. Just lots of feces, dirty floors, uncleanliness. I am still hoping that it was just "end of the day mess" that I saw and not an all the time thing.
Though boarding is cheap, I don't recommend it... My pup didn't eat while he was there and perhaps was uncomfortable as they aren't on a pad... I disn't see one at least.

Be aware that this practice schedules their patients every 15 minutes and takes walk-ins, too. I had an appointment, and after waiting 15 minutes with a trembling dog in a waiting room full of trembling dogs (5), I asked how much longer we would need to wait. I was told there were 2 patients ahead of us, and only one of the waiting dogs had been called into an exam room since we had arrived, The staff (2 different people) were unapologetic about the wait and said the first appointment of the morning is usually the only one with no wait time. I have taken pets to a number of vets over the years, and I have never before had to wait more than a few minutes nor have I occupied a waiting room with more than 1 or 2 other pets, even for just a couple of minutes. Considering how nervous many animals get in the vets office and how they sometimes react to each other, this practices scheduling protocol and unsympathetic attitude seem not only uncaring, but irresponsible. They told me that they couldnt estimate how much longer we would have to wait, because they "have no way of knowing how long each patient will take," yet they schedule a minimum amount of time for each appointment. I was also told that one of the doctors would be going home soon, and the wait would get even longer then. I chose not to subject my dog to the situation any longer and took her home. I made an appointment at a different clinic that assured me a minimum wait time.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!!! Avoid at all costs! My cat went BLIND because of this Veterinary Clinic. She started to run into walls, her eyes were completely dilated, and it was clear she was having trouble seeing. We brought her in and the very unexperienced Chelsea McAnally examined her eyes and determined that she WASNT blind and that she did not have any vision problems. She was still running into things and her eyes were still dilated despite what Dr. McAnally said. We got an appointment at the Animal Ophthalmology Clinic in Dallas and they tested her blood pressure (which Allen Veterinary Hospital does not do) and determined that her blood pressure was 270 instead of 120 and had completely lost her vision. High blood pressure is a common cause of blindness and can cause the animals retinas to detach. If high blood pressure is caught soon enough, their retinas can reattach, but since the "Vet" told us nothing was wrong, we waited too long, and she is not able to regain vision. We called the Hospital back, and they had no comment to what had happened. They did not seem concerned what so ever. Our cat is now blind, and they could have prevented that. I cannot emphasize this enough, DO NOT GO TO THIS VETERINARIAN HOSPITAL!!!!!!! They will tell you your pet is fine even if it isnt. My cat is blind because of this horrible, unexperienced "doctor."

I can not even begin to adequately describe how wonderful this veterinary hospital is. I rescued the most adorable little teacup Persian cat, but unfortunately he was bred with a ton of genetic defects and diseases. None the less, we loved him very much and thanks to Dr. McAnally, Dr. Shiplove, and Dr. Coffman, we were given a little bit more time with him when a terminal condition hit our baby. These doctors did everything they could to make our little one more comfortable and tried to prolong his life. They even let me sit from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm in the back office holding my little baby while he received IV drips, giving me both more time with my little guy and making him less scared because he was in my arms. No other vet in the world would ever go all out like that. Dr. McAnally gave me her cell # and check in on Cupcake frequently. She was an absolute pillar of strength during this difficult time. Dr. Mac even teared up at one point when I was crying because it had become evident that Cupcakes condition was not good. That is how much she cares. We are eternally thankful and grateful for everything the doctors and entire staff did during a very difficult time. They also only billed us a very reasonable amount considering the great lengths and treatments they did for our little baby. Again, thank you Allen Veterinary Hospital.

When I was fostering golden retrievers and took them there, I was treated well. Now that I am the owner and not the foster, they really treat me like dirt, I was 15 minutes late for an appointment. While getting one of my dogs out of the vehicle, he slipped the leash & took off. It took me 10 minutes to get him. While I was trying to get him to come to me, 2 of their vet techs watched me & never offered to help. When I finally got him inside, I was told "When do you want to reschedule the visit for?" I asked why they didnt call me & tell me, I was told that they left me a message. I checked my phone in my vehicle & sure enough they had - during the 10 minutes I was chasing my dog. Not once did the tech say, Im sorry we have to reschedule - it was just very direct and rude. I was already frustrated. I asked for a copy of my dogs shot records & was given a blank computer print out. When I called to get them to send them to me - they informed me they had no records - which is wrong - my rescue was seen there for almost a year by them & my other dog has cancer and saw them to be referred to a specialist. The vets are nice - but the techs and office staff leave an awful lot to be desired.
