Ive worn glasses since I was about 8, my vision has steadily been getting worse. Last time I had an exam I was 17 and i was legally blind in my left eye... Your vision doesnt just turn around from a -4 to a -2 over night either. There are two separate doctors here. One does the lens fitting for glasses only, the other does the fitting for contacts. The doctor, Jafar (not kidding), for contacts..is an idiot. He barely speaks English and will not listen to a word you say. My first day in they did both exams. My glasses seemed normal, Left eye got better a -3.00 over the course of 2 years, right went to a -2.75. Contacts were a HUGE ordeal. Before even walking in I had called my insurance to make sure EVERYTHING was covered, I double checked it too. Well, Mr. Jafar charged me $150 for a premium fitting and contacts that werent fully covered by my insurance. Yeah, no. He gave me a left contact for an astigmatism, that HURT my eye and he refused to listen when I explained that it hurt and was extremely difficult to take out. I told him I wanted Acuve Advance (which is fully covered by my insurance) and he started to fight with me about it. I went in 48hours later and he told me that my prescription had changed from -4 to -2 in my left eye. THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN. This went on for 2 months. I called my old eye doctor and explained the situation and asked him to fax over my prescription to this doctor. Mr. Jafar called me to tell me that my old doctor was wrong and that he was right. I did a double check, went into TARGET OPTICAL and got my prescription done again. I could actually see and not get massive headaches. I requested that Mr. Jafar give me Acuve Advance. Today I went in to get my AA contacts, he told me that he only had one box and that it was going to cost me $55 dollars to get it. I repeated the same thing: They are FULLY covered by my insurance. He got fussy with me, so I asked for my full prescription and pupilary distance so I could order both my contacts and glasses online. He got mad and said: I cant do that. It will cost you $15 and I have to write you a check for $20. ...I can get my pupilary distance checked at ANY Eye Doctor in a 5 mile radius for FREE. I took the $20 dollar refund and left. Never going back, worst eye doctor in the state.

In response to Deborah : I should say this teenage girl came to our office for a contact lens exam. She had Eye Med insurance and was unaware that her insurance does not pay for her fitting fee and full price Toric lenses ( Lenses for Astigmatism). Unfortunately Deborah had Astigmatism and for us to make her to see 20/20, we had to fit her with the Toric Lenses. Deborah did not show up to 3 of her fitting appointments. After a month and a half she walked into our office. She stated she did not like the feeling of the lenses and that she experienced headaches while wearing them. After hearing her complaint, she stated she wanted different pair of lenses. We gave her Spherical lenses but I told her although they may feel comfortable you are not seeing 20/20, your vision is now 20/30. She agreed. Eye Med paid $95 for lenses and we received $75 then we returned $20 back to Deborah. Our contact lenses fitting for patients are $140.00. We see 60 patients a week. Every problem we have encountered before has been with patients who have financial difficulties. They develop any reason to not pay our fees. Please check your insurance benefits before making any appointment with our office. And all patients should be aware for our terms and conditions regarding follow ups.

I walked in and every pair of glasses I SWEAR was from the 80s! There office is like a hole in the wall that has one little shady back room. I went back for a contact fitting and the "doctor" used an old fashion peice of equipment to look at my eyes, it was very strange and shady. He put numbing drops in my eye and said that it was so he could put my contacts in first (these numbing drops are standard, but not for a contact fitting). He brought me out in the main room to learn to put my contacts in and I was just sitting there while he took the contacts out with his finger and then had me take them and put them in my eye. He brought out the "prescription contacts" and had me put them on, then took me back to the room and looked at them in the little light once and said ok they look fine. There was no contact fitting at all. Then when I went to pay they didnt know how to process my insurance information and then charged me $140 just for the fitting, which doesnt make any sense when my co-pay is $10. Anyways, the doctor was very very unprofessional and left the store in the middle of my contact session to get fast frrom from accross the street!!! I cant tell you enough do not go there! It is weird, shady, and unprofessional.

Great private practice. I really dislike the chain vision places like Lens Crafters, Americas Best, etc. Theyve always rushed me through, and have never gotten my prescription right. This place however, got my prescription perfect. Dr. Weltman is such a nice man, and I am much happier giving his practice my patronage. Jay is also very nice. He seems interested, involved, and very patient. For my first time getting cotacts he was very helpful and spent a lot of time with me. Jay also spent a lot of time working things out with my insurance and called them whenever he needed to which I very much appreciated. Thier prices are great, and much more reasonable than other local boutique-like places. The atmosphere itself has kind of a mom and pop feel and is somewhat old fasioned. I could see this turning some people off, but I must say dont let that fool you. Their knowledge, experience and customer service beats out all other places Ive been! Pros: Affordable, works with insurance, knowlegable and friendly staff, established private practice, trustworthy and kind Optometrist Cons: limited parking and business hours

Fraud - Beware! This place is run by crooks trying to make a fast buck off your insurance and pocket book. There is only one real Optometrist onsite and he is very nice, but way past the age of retirement. The front desk manager and other doctor are the owners, and basically find out how much money they can make off your insurance before they see you. And dont expect the service you made the appointment for without the doctor and front desk manager pushing other services on you and pretending such services are mandatory. I requested an eye exam for contact lenses when I set the appointment, after the retired Optometrist finished my eye exam, the fake doctor and front desk manager said I had to pay more money for a contact lense fitting and come back in a week. Ive worn contact lenses for the past 10 years..why would anyone make me go thru a fitting again??? Its called $$$. I refused to pay more money and left with a Rx for eye glasses..which was a total waste of time and money for me!! Dont waste your time or money here!

...if only a little old fashioned. But honestly I think that adds a bit to the appeal. Jay is a gentleman who really knows what hes talking about and will adamantly defend any suggestions that he doesnt. (A rude customer once accused him of messing up his lenses when in fact it was his former eye docter who had sent the wrong information. Jay handled the irate person with tact and quickly defused the situation. The customer apologized after being proven without a doubt to be in the wrong.) The environment reminded me of going to the eye doctor when i was little (and has probably been around that long) which just goes to show Jays years of experience in the industry. He also worked with me on pricing and helped me figure out the best way to pay for my contacts. Location is great too. If youre looking for a place filled with the newest machinery but inexperienced doctors, this is not the place for you. If you want the best service and dont mind that the place looks a little dated, Eye Vision-Downtown is for you.
